Chapter 41: Chapter 42: Xiao Linzhang and His Destined Relationship
“Wah, wah, wah…”
Cries of a baby echoed as Aunt Liu, carrying the child, walked in.
“Doctor Shao, I don’t know what’s wrong with Xiao Linzhang, he suddenly started crying nonstop, and no matter how I try, I can’t soothe him,” Aunt Liu hurried over.
Shao He turned around, took the child, and gently soothed him, “Good boy, don’t cry, don’t cry, you’re the best behaved in Linzhang.”
The child, normally obedient, was crying incessantly today, and Pei Huaian, who had been following Shao He, worried that she might slip again, was also anxious about why Xiao Linzhang was crying.
In Huaian’s arms, Xiao Linzhang seemed to notice the person trailing behind and suddenly stopped crying, his big eyes staring at Pei Huaian, who was in the wheelchair.
Shao He noticed the child ceased crying and was staring at something behind her; following his gaze, she found Xiao Linzhang looking at the man in the wheelchair.
No matter how she adjusted her posture, Xiao Linzhang’s gaze remained fixed on the masked man, and he couldn’t stop smiling, drool dripping down.
Aunt Liu, amazed, said, “It seems Xiao Linzhang really likes this young master; he stops crying and fussing as soon as he sees him, and even laughs so happily.”
“Yes, Xiao Linzhang and he are truly fated,” Shao He chuckled softly, seeing the masked man’s yearning gaze, handed the child to him, then crouched down to play with the child together.
…
The cold wind kept blowing outside the window while Luo Jiner lay in bed, with Old Mr. He stroking his beard and taking her pulse.
Chu Yu anxiously waited beside her, and as soon as the hands retracted, immediately stepped forward and asked, “Old Mr. He, how is Jiner’s health?”
“I am incapable, please seek someone more skilled, Marquis.”
These words from Old Mr. He made Chu Yu step back two steps.
Luo Jiner likewise pulled back the muslin canopy, clutched the bed desperately, and pleaded, “Old Mr. He, there’s no one in the Capital City with higher medical skills than you. Can’t you think of something else?”
“Alas, the girl’s body has been too severely damaged; it’s simply impossible to cure,” Old Mr. He stated truthfully.
After speaking, he bowed his back and turned to leave.
Luo Jiner, clutching an embroidered handkerchief, started to cry, and Chu Yu approached to comfort her, “Don’t worry, if all else fails, we can adopt a child in your name; raising a child brings greater kindness than giving birth to one.”
How could Luo Jiner let such a thing happen? Thinking back on something Shao He once said, a new idea formed in her mind.
Luo Jiner, wearing a veil, arrived in front of the hospital, stared at the sign reading “Miraculous Rejuvenation”, took a deep breath, and walked in.
The hospital wasn’t busy, with only a few patients, and Shao He, the physician, was not there; she immediately stepped back and fell behind the crowd, as her visit was intended to secretly seek treatment from Shao He, hence the concealed face.
As she was waiting, the faint sound of a baby’s cry entered her ears; although very light, she heard it, and Luo Jiner, surprised, immediately ran towards the sound.
Just as she was about to enter the backyard, Yun Qian came over in time to stop her.
“The backyard is off-limits to outsiders. If you need medical attention, please get in line and wait.”
“I, I want to see Doctor Shao, please let me go in? I need to speak with her,” Luo Jiner said in a pinched voice.
Listening to her, Yun Qian still refused to let her in, “Please wait a moment, Doctor Shao will be out soon.” @@novelbin@@
No matter what excuse Luo Jiner provided, Yun Qian gently refused each one, even when she resorted to saying she needed the restroom, he still declined.
“I just heard the sound of a child crying from the back, is it your child?” Unable to enter, Luo Jiner tried another approach by asking Yun Qian, eager to know who the child was.
“Are you here for medical treatment? If not, please leave,” Yun Qian’s feelings of alertness emerged.
With her face concealed under the veiled hat, clearly not wanting to be recognized, and her keen interest in the child, he presumed she was up to no good.
Seeing Yun Qian’s firm stance, Luo Jiner decided to leave.
Upon leaving the hospital, in order to find out exactly whose child it was, she specifically asked around among the local people, and the ultimate answer was the one she least wanted.
It turned out that Shao He’s child had not died; she and her son really had strong life force; such things still hadn’t killed them.
On the way back, thinking of Old Lady Chu’s attitude towards the child, her eyes revealed a bloodthirsty gleam; she could not let the mother and son continue to live.
This was a significant threat to her.
What do you think?
