Chapter 42: Chapter 43 I would like to invite you to my wedding banquet
Although the early winter weather was cold, the sunlight was quite warm, and there were quite a few pedestrians coming and going on the streets.
Jhiang Yijia, wearing a veil, walked into the clinic, followed closely by her maid.
Shao He was seeing a patient and did not notice her arrival.
It was not until Jhiang Yijia sat down and reached out her hand that Shao He realized.
“How come you have time to come today?”
She had heard that the Jhiang Family and Fang Family were preparing for a marriage; she should have time to come here.
Jhiang Yijia took out a red invitation and passed it over, with a large “Happiness” character written on it.
“Congratulations,” Shao He said, glancing at the invitation.
“I would like you to attend my wedding feast.” Jhiang Yijia was sincerely inviting; without Doctor Shao, this marriage would not have been possible. She hoped that Shao He would attend the wedding feast as a friend.
Shao He lowered her eyes, “My status might make it inconvenient to attend. I wish you an early happy marriage and a harmonious life together.”
Only then did Jhiang Yijia remember her status and understood why she could not attend.
However, this did not affect the bond between them.
“I have been busy embroidering my wedding gown for the past few days and haven’t come. The frostbite ointment that the maid bought is very effective; it’s now impossible to buy anymore. Could you let me buy some more through the back door?” Jhiang Yijia leaned in, blinking her large eyes while shaking Shao He’s hand that lay on the table.
Shao He withdrew her hand and was about to answer when Jhiang Yijia immediately looked sullen, as if about to cry, “Could you open the back door, please?”
“Since you’ve asked, I shall set some aside for you.” Shao He picked up her teacup and took a sip, then looked up at the person across from her with a meaningful gaze. @@novelbin@@
At Shao He’s words, Jhiang Yijia immediately straightened up, her voice excited, “Thank you, thank you so much.”
As the two chatted, Jhiang Yijia remembered some news she had heard a few days ago. She leaned on the table and whispered, “I heard that your ointment has reached the Imperial Medical Bureau, and the Imperial Physician is studying it.”
Shao He continued to drink her tea calmly.
“Aren’t you going to react?”
“Why should I react?” Shao He put down her tea cup, her eyebrows slightly raised.
“But…”
“The formula for the frostbite ointment won’t be easily deciphered by them.” Upon hearing this, Shao He slightly squinted her eyes, a faint smile appearing on her lips, and a cold gleam flashed in her eyes.
Seeing the confident expression, Jhiang Yijia felt that her concerns were superfluous and couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
It wasn’t until the sun set in the west that Jhiang Yijia reluctantly left with the frostbite ointment.
As night fell, a carriage came from outside the city.
The carriage finally stopped in front of the clinic, and a man got out and knocked on the door.
“Knock knock knock!”
The knocking went on for a long time with no one answering the door.
“How can there be no one?” the man wondered, then frowned, “Could it be that no one is in?”
“Who is it!” The servant boy opened the door and asked, poking his head out.
The man who was about to leave quickly replied, “Is there a doctor in? We have someone injured and are looking for a doctor to dress the wounds.”
“Everyone has rested, come back tomorrow.”
Just as the servant boy was about to close the door, a large hand suddenly pushed the door open forcefully, and several thugs got off the carriage, their bodies smeared with some blood.
“What, what are you going to do?” the servant boy retreated in fright, his legs trembling because of the smell of blood on them.
One of the thugs pulled out a purse and threw it in front of him, speaking menacingly, “Go get a doctor, and treat us.”
The servant boy picked up the purse and weighed it, cursing inwardly, but his face was filled with a smile as he said, “Gentlemen, our doctor has already rested, perhaps you might consider checking somewhere else…”
The servant boy hadn’t finished speaking when he was kicked to the ground by a thug, who then grabbed his collar, pointed at the attendant and shouted angrily, ” less nonsense, hurry up and treat us, or I will smash this clinic!”
The servant boy, trembling with fear and seeing the murderous look in the man’s eyes, dared not ask more. He quickly stood up and said, “Gentlemen, please wait a moment, I will immediately call someone to come and treat you.”
With that, he hurried away.
The thug glanced at the servant boy’s retreating figure, gave a signal to the others,
One of them went outside, helping several severely injured thugs into the clinic from the carriage, then whistled to signal the others while another closed the doors and windows before sitting down again.
The servant boy was about to knock on Yun Qian’s door when, just as he raised his hand, the door suddenly opened.
“What happened?” Yun Qian, dressed in white, stood in the doorway and asked.
What do you think?
