Xu Han, clad in a water-pink Luo skirt with golden tassels at her waist, came down and casually turned around to support Princess Huimin.

Upon seeing the seriousness on their faces, Shao He immediately approached and bowed deeply, “I’ve seen Princess Huimin and Princess Yunyao.”

“No need for formalities,” Princess Huimin said as they helped her up.

“Why would the princess visit unexpectedly?” Shao He was a bit puzzled in her heart, she was certain her concealer had no issues—could it be that Princess Huimin did not heed her instructions?

As she was lost in thought, Princess Huimin let out a light chuckle, “Do you intend to have me stand here and speak with you?”

Shao He, noticing the gazes around them, immediately stepped aside to make a welcoming gesture.

...

Princess Huimin and Xu Han entered the Jian Hall together and were immediately greeted by the fragrant scent of herbs upon entry.

“Is this Jian Hall?” A flash of surprise crossed Princess Huimin’s eyes, followed by a smile, “Quite elegant indeed.”

Hearing this, Shao He only smiled and cupped her hands in a gesture.

“Your highness, I have prepared some tea and refreshments, I hope you and Princess Yunyao will do me the honor,” Shao He said as she led them to the inner chamber and personally brewed two cups of tea for the table.

After Princess Huimin took a sip from one of the cups, she nodded in satisfaction, “Fine tea!”

“Who would have thought that Doctor Shao would not only possess great medical skills but also brew excellent tea.”

“Thank you for the praise, Princess,” Shao He responded indifferently.

“Miss Shao is truly remarkable,” Princess Huimin’s lips curled into a light smile, then she continued, “I came today to let you know that I plan to take Han’er to stay at a temple for a while to pray, so I wanted to get some medicine from you.”

“Certainly, but I only have so much concealer prepared at the moment, I will need some time, please wait, princess.”

She had not expected Princess Huimin to seek blessings; she had not prepared an excess of concealers beforehand.

Princess Huimin smiled unconcernedly, “No matter, the temple is deep in the mountains, we will also need a few days to set off in time.”

Hearing that the temple was in the deep mountains, Shao He suggested, “Since it’s in the deep mountains, I’m afraid there will be many mosquitoes. I will prepare some insect repellent for the princess, and send it to the princess’s mansion together.”

“That would be much appreciated, Doctor Shao.”

Princess Huimin turned and accepted the silver passed by the maid, placed it on the table, and pushed it towards Shao He, “Please accept this silver, it is a small token of my appreciation, there is no need for modesty.”

“Thank you very much, princess,” Shao He collected the silver without any hesitation.

“Enough, I shall not disturb your consultations any longer,” Princess Huimin stood up to leave.

Shao He escorted them to the carriage and watched as the vehicle gradually disappeared into the distance before withdrawing her gaze.

Upon returning to the shop, she saw Yun Qian approaching with joy, “Today I counted the frostbite ointment and the cold effervescent powder; they’re selling remarkably well.”

“You’re truly a genius. I doubt even the Imperial Medical Bureau would have thought that a woman could possess such formidable medical skills, on par with the Divine Doctor Hua Tuo.”

Yun Qian lavishly praised Shao He, words seemed inadequate to describe him; it seemed the title of divine doctor belonged to no one else but her.@@novelbin@@

Shao He chuckled softly at his hyperbole and returned to her seat.

Yun Qian noticed her indifference and suddenly remembered something, leaning in mysteriously and said, “Young Master Pei placed another order for medicine a few days ago, but he didn’t come to collect it himself.”

Yun Qian actually wanted to ask if something had happened between them, considering Young Master Pei used to come to this place whether or not he had business to attend to, but now his presence was nowhere to be found.

“Hmm,” Shao He simply hummed in response.

She picked up a medical book absentmindedly, which was filled with all sorts of herbal ingredients, but her mind wasn’t on it at all.

She thought to herself, Could Pei Huaian be avoiding her? He seemed not to have returned home these past few days; where could he have gone?

Yun Qian raised his eyebrows slightly, looking at the absent-minded person and helplessly shook his head as he left.

Two days later, when an unexpected visitor came for consultation, Shao He couldn’t help but voice her inner question.

“Have you seen Young Master Pei recently, Young Master Yan?”

A flicker of surprise crossed Yan Ze’s eyes, followed by a somewhat flustered response, “He’s been occupied with matters recently.”

The comment was somewhat evasive, but Shao He did not press further, instead asking about his health condition.

“Where are you feeling unwell, Young Master Yan? Let me take your pulse first,” she said.

Looking into the depths of Yan Ze’s eyes, she detected nothing unusual, “It would be better for me to take your pulse first, Young Master Yan, one mustn’t take medicine recklessly.”

Yan Ze could only shake his folding fan, “Actually, it’s not me who’s sick, it’s a friend of mine.”

“How old? What are the symptoms?” Shao He asked nonchalantly.

“Twenty, and he’s been having trouble sleeping recently.”

Shao He paused in her writing, and pretending to be casual, she asked, “Your friend wouldn’t happen to be Young Master Pei, would it?”

Seeing her guess, Yan Ze no longer hid the truth and sighed, “Yes, it’s him!”

Shao He looked up at Yan Ze, it’s no wonder she hadn’t seen him these past days; he was ill, which made her unexpectedly concerned, a concern she hadn’t even noticed herself.

“Young Master Pei… he’s alright, isn’t he?” Shao He’s voice carried a tinge of concern.

Yan Ze hesitated, then meeting those clear, cool eyes, he slowly said, “He’s had an incident and isn’t in a good state; Doctor Shao may not know, but Pei Huaian is quite introverted, he doesn’t like to talk about his problems, which also relates to his mother’s early death.”

“He’s alright though, isn’t he,” Shao He blurted out, her tone rising significantly, her eyes flashing with urgency.
