Chapter 187 Great discoveries
Michael looked at the new Mithril Artifact in his hands.
Then, he snapped his fingers and created a fire that was as big as a basketball and bellowed out into a huge flame.
That was supposed to be a simple 1-star spell called [Ember]. It was supposed to only create a simple fire on top of his fingers, yet its strength was even enough to melt through leather armor.
It was clear from the get-go that the Mithril Artifact in his hands had a huge effect on his spell power. As soon as he cast his spell, the Artifact suddenly started glowing a bright red light, indicating that it was being used to empower a Fire-element spell.
After he stopped his cast, the flame in his hands disappeared and the Mithril Artifact stopped glowing. Yet, the blue and red glowing particles inside it were still ever present inside.
Now, this boosting effect shouldn't have happened at all with a normal Mithril Artifact. After all, it had both Fire and Water mana present inside the cores, meaning it could only boost Fire and Water spells.
But this new version of Mithril could compartmentalize itself and use only the necessary element being cast!
Michael tried this out with a [Water Ball] spell and found it to be much bigger than he expected. It was too big, in fact, that it almost extinguished one of the forges beside it.
"Amazing, boss!"
"The applications of such a discovery are endless!"
"Boss Michael, you have to teach us how to do that," Thrain asked with his excitement bubbling over the top.
Unfortunately for them, Michael was only able to change the very structure of Mithril through the 5-star [Metal Transmutation] spell.
Although the Ancient Dwarves were quite talented and were fast approaching their breakthrough, they were still far away from reaching the five-star realm.
"Sorry, but it looks like I'm the only one who can make it for now," Michael explained to them.
They were dismayed upon hearing this, but Thrain quickly picked up their morale by giving them a motivating pep talk to work harder in the future.
Michael would wait for that eventual day as well. After all, he didn't want to be the only one who could make this new and better version of Mithril. It took him far too much time to create a single fist-sized piece. He reckoned that it would take him more time if he were to make them into full armor for him and the Dragonborn siblings.
As he was about to start hammering more Mithril Artifacts to experiment, he suddenly saw Fudge jumping out of his shadow and landing on his shoulders.
"Master! Sis Sheina wants to talk to you," Fudge reported.
"Sheina? I wonder what she wants…"@@novelbin@@
Michael bid goodbye to the Ancient Dwarves and descended into the shadows. He arrived back in Neo Orcus immediately and saw Sheina looking over two Orcs who were kneeling on the ground.
"What's going on?"

Sheina bowed to Michael. "It has come to my attention that they have been secretly watching the baseball games in the bushes."
Michael looked at the two Orcs and was surprised that they were from the two rival tribes—one Orcanine and one Orcupine.
He also recognized their faces as the ones who had been delivering the Kakao beans right into the gates of Neo Orcus.
But the weirdest thing he noticed was that the Orcs didn't try to shout or fight against each other in any way. And if he was seeing it correctly, it seemed that there wasn't any hostility from both of them at all. Usually, they would have at least sent dirty looks to each other by now. But, there was nary a glare nor a scoff exchanged between them.
"Care to explain?" he asked them directly.
The two Orcs kneeled to Michael and tried to beg for his forgiveness.
"Please forgive us, oh merciful human! We were just trying to enjoy the baseball game!"
"It's true! We mean no harm against Neo Orcus and were simply following our want to witness a game…"
The two Orcs spilled the beans about the circumstances that led them to discover the baseball field, as well as how they started to fall in love with the game of baseball.
It was quite clear to Michael that the Orcs were passionate about the game, just like the Rebornians were when he first introduced the game.
"If that's so, then there's no problem if you want to watch baseball," he said, picking the two up from their kneeling position. "Next time, you should just approach the field and we can let you sit in the bleachers or play a game with them."
The two Orcs looked up at Michael with gratitude. They would like nothing more than to finally play a game of baseball with the Rebornians and the Montgomerys.
"Lord Michael, there's something more."
Sheina approached Michael and whispered to him about her experiences with the strange resonance.
A fire lit up in Michael's eyes. His curiosity was piqued. If what she said was true, then it was all the more reason for Michael to stop the civil war between the two tribes and unite them into a cohesive group.
The unexpected resonance between the Orcanine and Orcupines was perhaps a glimpse at their true potential. There must have been a reason why those two tribes used to be part of one single group, and how they were able to coexist during the ancient times.
"Can you try to repeat it?" Michael asked the Orcs.
But it seemed that they were clueless as to what Michael was talking about. Even they didn't know the kind of effect that their overlapping rituals would make or if it even had one at all.
They had always been fighting and shouting at each other for years on end now, yet the only kind of effect it harbored was a very annoying noise that reverberated through the forest. It definitely wasn't the kind of effect that Sheina was describing.
Still, the Orcs obeyed Michael's instructions and started their rituals.
The Orcanine Orc slapped his biceps, while the Orcupine Orc shivered his quills.
The resulting sound was a very pleasant rhythm that resulted in an unexpected notification from ChatJK3.
