“Then, please express our gratitude to our sister-in-law.” The two guards accepted Chu Molin’s goodwill. There wasn’t a strict rule against accepting gifts from civilians; they had merely been following old traditions.

“You’re welcome.” Chu Molin nodded before heading back to his wife.

“How did it go?” Qin Xue asked as Chu Molin approached.

“They accepted.” Chu Molin looked at his wife, realizing just how much he had missed her. How wonderful it was that she remembered to come visit him.

“Xue’er, let’s go inside and have lunch. Even if you’re not hungry, you can keep me company.” Chu Molin didn’t want his wife to leave so soon and was trying to find ways for her to stay a little longer.

“Alright, but wouldn’t that interfere with your work?” Qin Xue looked at the yearning hidden in his eyes and agreed. She wondered, though, if it could pose a problem for him.

“It won’t. We’re on break and will have two hours of rest time after lunch. Plus, you’re my wife, not a stranger. The school won’t mind.” Chu Molin thought about how there were plenty of men without wives. Having a woman visit would indeed be a rare occurrence.

But Qin Xue didn’t know this. In her former society, men with jobs like Chu Molin’s were highly sought-after bachelors. Many women wished to marry men like them, so she had no clue.

“Fine then, I’ll wait for you inside. This needs to be cut with a knife before eating.” Qin Xue had only brought a small knife. Now that she could go inside, she could borrow a knife, chop up the food, and serve it to him on a plate.

“Let’s go then.” Chu Molin took her parcel, showed it to the guard, and waited for Qin Xue to enter with him. This time, he didn’t hold her hand. He had to maintain a certain image here.

As Qin Xue walked beside him, she turned to look at his profile. He was always so charming in his work uniform. She wondered if there were women in this school who liked him. She really didn’t want to deal with any trouble.
