Vol. 11 - Chapter 561 - Scramble for Strategic Spot! Class-1’s squad Dilemma!

"Watch out!"

"Haaaa! «Spinning Edge»!"

The scout girl exclaimed as she watched Pamela jumping in their direction. The broadsword boy stepped up and used his own skill to counterattack.

Of course, having been trained in the «Eden» for the perfect figure of evasion attacker, Pamela graciously dodged the attack, and even had the leeway to launch a counterattack.

"Whoops, and «Poison Shuriken»-desu!"

"Wha—aargh!"

The broadblad boy had a clear opening in its movement after he finished his move, and ultimately three successive poisonous shuriken struck him square, inflicting 'poison' status. The twin-sword girl moved to cover her comrade the instant she affirmed the situation.

"Fall down. And broadblade speed can't catch up with her speed obviously! «—Ode of Sequence Slashes»!"

"Now, I can't let you have all the fun, Pamela. —«Parallel Slash»!"

Soon, Rika chased up to Pamela, and wedges herself in the situation seeing as the twin-sword girl releases a flurry of slashes as if she was waltzing on the field.

Rika's offensive skill created a parry phenomenon, off-setting the twin-sword girl's attack, preemptively cancelling the skin.

"—Rgh?! No way, you stopped the skill! Tsk, we might have more than the barga—"

"Now is the chance-desu! «Give Me Your Life»!"

"Huh, kyaaaa!"

In a flash, the twin-sword girl found herself in a 2-vs-1 situation, giving rise to an opening. Pamela used that moment to deliver her attack.

«Give Me Your Life» was in fact an impressive skill tailored for pvp. The single attack had shaved off the twin-sword girl's HP by more than half. A panicked scream escaped from the scout girl's mouth.

"Hey, hey. Hurry up and provide cover. Do something sorcerer or whatever!"

"J-Just getting to it! «Mega Frigid»! «Ice Sh—»!"

Receiving the scout girl's command, the mage boy promptly turned to cast the magic/ But of course,  how could «Sage» Misato let it happen? And so she immediately turn to stop him.

"Tsk-tsk. You don't think it will be that easy huh? «Prison»!"

"Huh—what?! What the heck is with that?! A magic cage!?"

"Enjoy the view from the backseat~"

Misato's job, «Sage», forte lied in recovery and barrier, and of course, it also had the barrier to seal the opponent.

«Prison» enclosed an opponent in a barrier, and put the effect of 'Bind.' The sealed state was akin to «Paralysis» so it was impossible to use magic or skill while stuck in that situation.

Despite facing multiple opponents, it was quite a good start. Rika murmured.

"We may have an advantage in level, but it's still quite easy huh."

"W-Who the heck are you!?"

"We're Class-1."

All of a sudden, the ease vanished from the movements of the scout girl, her expression pulling a spasm at Rika's answer.

Meanwhile, the confrontation between Class-1 and Class-9 was overlooked by a man as she stood on the hill. (Map Coordinate AE-23)

"Uh-huh, I didn't expect someone would already take a headstart for this spot. Nevermind, it's my fault. I should have expected this much from Class-1. But anyway, I ought to inform our members to fall behind before the situation turns dicey."

He was Keel, leader of Class-9, overlooking the situation right now. He had instructed the scout girl's team to head here, but in a twist of events, Class-1 had already beaten them to a punch here.

The strategic location they'd been scrambling right now was far from Class-9's base, and as much as his guess goes around, Class-1 shouldn't have their base in victiny either. This could only mean one thing—this place had been their target since the start, and unhesitatingly dispatched their force here as soon as the match had started.

Keel was impressed by the expertise of his opponent beyond his expectation.

"Time to retreat. Shoot the «Ice Arrow—no, wait."

Seeing the situation turning disadvantageous, Keel immediately had the accompanying «Wildman» shoot an arrow—a predetermined signal for retreat, but he suddenly called for halt.

«Wildman» had just placed his hand on the string when he stopped precisely on his movement at Keel's follow up world—a sign of his thorough training. As a matter of fact, Keel managed to climb on the hill precisely through his help. Huge mountains were impossible for the part, but that serves as a good enough spot.

Back to the topic, Keel's eyes were nailed to the central mountain when he asked for «Wildman» to halt. To be precise—He was holding a telescope item in his hands, and looking through it to check the situation. Beyond the telescope, in the direction it was pointing at, Keel saw two squads.

"They're...pfft. Haha, even Class-3 are looking to join in the fray? And my oh my, that's Class-10 from northeast huh? You know what, I think this is a good development. It wouldn't do our class any good to back down here. Alright, we have to break some hard nuts but let's solidify our step here. It's crazy when the match has just started... oh well. Time to summon reinforcement."

Affirming the situation, Keel issued an opposite instruction. The untalkative Wildman changed the direction his arrow was pointing at and shot it toward their base.

A letter with 'send the reinforcement' was attached to the arrow.

◇◇◇

The disturbance didn't go unnoticed in the strategic spot, and was promptly noticed by Pamela, the holder of «Detective Lv10» and «Detect Presence Lv5».

"Mmm! We have a problem!"

"Huh, what?!"

Despite being at an advantage in her skirmish with the scout girl, Pamela suddenly withdrew, causing the scout girl to let out a bewildered voice.

Ignoring that, Pamela joined Rika, who had been fighting the broadsword boy and the dual-sword girl.

"R-Reinforcement?!"

"Let's distance ourselves!"

Both the dual-wielding girl and the swordsman, seeing Pamela arrive, hastily retreated and cautiously observed her movements. After Rika declared that they were from Class-1, their alertness had noticeably increased.

Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, Pamela approached Rika's side and spoke in a low voice.

"Rika, we have a situation!"

"What happened, Pamela? The match was just heating up, you know."

"Heating?? No, no. It is about to turn sweaty in fact!! New opponents—four from north, and 5 from central mountain direction—are approaching-desu!"

"What?!"

Nine opponents. There was no way to tell they belonged to the same class they're confronting right now, but regardless, the point remains that they're going to see force three times of their own. They'd to call a stop in the fight ultimately.

The primary goal of Rika and team was to crush the scouts, so there was no point fighting against larger forces.

A total of nine enemies were approaching. It wasn't clear whether they were from the same class, but the report that the number of enemies was three times their current force was enough to make continuing the battle seem questionable.

While it would be a shame to let these four get away with no results after having such an advantage, the arrival of nine reinforcements was definitely too much to handle.

But they also weren't sure to leave without any information on the bag.

"Misato, you heard that, right?"

"Umm, this is a bit tricky~..."

Misato, who had unknowingly creeped back to her team, heard the situation and expression scrunched in deep frown.

"Indeed, but it would leave a bad taste to leave without any result. Besides, we're also the intelligence squad, alright. Let's see who the newcomers are first, and if situation turn sharp, prioritize retreat first, Misato."

"Hmm, I would be alright. I can keep myself out of danger."

"Then I will provide support-desu! Oh, I got the sight of the enemy, in the north! They are coming from the direction of the central mountain, as much as 5—ah, crap! They're trying to take a detour from the south. Our escape route is going to be locked at this rate!" (Map Coordinate: Northern squad at AC-19, Central Mountain Squad at X-21)

"That wouldn't be good indeed."

"Which way do we escape?"

"How about we head southwest and create an escape route?"

"…Alright, let's go with that."

Their current location was the spot where routes from north, southwest, and east converge.

This key location is where roads from the north, southwest, and east converge. However, with four enemies approaching from east, and two other squads from north and southwest, Rika and team ultimately gave up on intel gathering and sought a way out.

They set their eyes on the southeast route at Pamela's route for their escape. It just so happened their Class-1 force was nearby, so they could also join them then.

Meanwhile, the four members of Class-9 heaved a sigh of release noticing the signs from north—the Class-10, their neighbour. The alliance had tied a verbal inviolable pact, that no one must target a struggling class, which made them an ally of sorts.

At the same time, their leader Keel should have called the reinforcement from their base located in the southeast.

The confrontation hadn't left them in a good shape, but at least they weren't the first to kick the bucket here. So this also brought them relief.

◇◇◇

From the southwest, the squad of Class-3 could be seen sprinting toward the direction of the central mountain.

A glance at the squad's vanguard and most would surely be surprised. The helm was undertaken by their class leader «Foxkin» Haku, or «Hundred Flame's Haku» as she had been dubbed.

With four members in tow, the group weave their route across the narrow paths, taking detours and making their destination beyond the central mountain, a spot where they sense the gathering of several other students.

"How is the map coming out?"

“It’s going well. I’ve mostly mapped the northeastern side.”

“That’s good to hear. Anyway, it looks like we’re about to run into a large group. Brace for the impact, everyone!”

“Hehe, gotcha!”

Mapping was one of the key reasons why they'd been winding around and trying to cover all the gaps since their base was located at the edge of northeast.

Their primary objective was to cover the eastern area, get the terrain details, and make a return if they encountered opponents. Of course, if they could, they were permissible to engage against enemies.

Normally, Haku, the strongest member of Class-3, should have no business here, but she tagged alone under the pretext that her presence would secure their survival. After all, an alias holder wasn't something to be trifled with. —But, in reality, she was a mere battle maniac. As long as there was an opportunity, she would take that moment to crush her opponent. Plus, this would secure the safety of scout goods as well. It was two birds with one stone.

"Enemy is around! Wait as I test them out—«Flame Swirl»!"

The instant Haku spotted an enemy in sight, she didn't bother bringing any words, and showered them with her third-order spell that dealt burn damage.

The attack targeted Rika and the team but Misato showed her prowess and momentarily repelled it with counter magic.

"Hehe, a magic counter is something I am good at—«Reflection»!"

"Hmm? Dodge, guys."

The instant attack was about to engulf Rika and team, a translucent had appeared for a split second. «Flame Whirl» crashed into it and as an effect of the barrier, it was repelled back in the direction of Haku.

Haku hadn't seen that coming, and was left surprised. But of course, she didn't let it control herself and promptly jumped from her spot.

Since Haku had issued a warning, the rest of the members managed to dodge too—or maybe except one. The attack had slightly grazed the shoulder of a member, shaving off their HP, but otherwise, rest were all fine. Though, this brought the advancement of Class-3 to halt.

"Heh, you must be quite talented to deflect a surprise attack."

"Tahaha, well what can I say, I am just that good~."

Misato gleefully accepted Haku's praise and astonishment. But that was a mere prelude.

Misato put aside the topic of assault before even greeting around, and tried to see if they could be budged.

"Well, we're currently engaged against another opponent. We would appreciate it if you can held off."

"Haha, that's maybe a tough request. Better yet, I would like to join in the fray."

Haku showed a dauntless appearance as she boldly stepped forward, joining in the situation.

Affirming that, Misato—took a step forward rather than backing down.

"Uh, then I will have to put you on brake then. You seem strong."

"Who needs a break when it's more exciting to go havoc! Enough chit-chat, let's begin this festival—«Flame Dance».

"Uh-huh, do not think we're some dandelion flower! «Spirit Barrier»!"

Haku's eyes had already narrowed in ferocious tint, like a predator finding its prey, and cast the raging flame toward Misato and group. Though Misato saw it coming and kept the flames at bay using a magic barrier.

The waves of flame crashed against the barrier and disappeared.

T/N - Aha, well, I initially planned to update these two on monday, but felt a bit behind in completing second chapter in time, and then it kinda dragged on to second update. That's why you shouldn't drag deadlines.

There's second chapter next to this. And I noticed I accidentally miss count 2nd chapter meant from the goal. Will upload it soon.
