"Those flames and the girl... she must be Class-3's «Hundred Flame's Haku»-desu."

Protected by Misato's barrier that nullified damage from flame, Pamela guessed the identity of Haku. A reaction emerged from Rika.

"You know about her?"

"But of course, a ninja is always armed with their opponent's information-desu! That girl is the leader of Class-3, the holder of «Hundred Flame Fox» job, and it specialises in Fire attribute area magic! She gained her alias for her stellar performance in her first battle!"

Originally, Pamela hailed from a branch family serving as shadow guards. So, she had been trained on how to gather intel behind the scene too. However the information this time was rather common; Haku had eliminated a low-ranking job dominated class almost by herself. The showcase of overwhelming strength earned her alias—based on her firepower that shreds the defense as easily as a hot knife running on butter—«Hundred Fire». If anything, the number of people who don't know about her were in the far minority.

Rika tapped her chin when she heard the information and fell into thought.

"Fumu. A magician, forte being area magic... It would be a problem for me with my close-combat style."

"I would refrain from having to face unavoidable ranged attacks as well-desu!"

Both Pamela and Rika grimaced. 

This was just how big Haku's spell range was. A silver bullet for the group battle. This would mean they couldn't afford to take any careless steps. 

Pamela was an evasion tank, but that barely scratched the situation if she couldn't dodge the attacks on time. Meanwhile, Rika's forte was in counterattack, but that falls short against ranged, or AoE magic.

"No choice, we will deal with the remaining four members. Misato, you can keep her in check, right?"

"Absolutely! I will make them regret for ever picking a fight with us!"

After a brief conversation, the Class-1 squad decided Misato would take on Haku, since she had better counter against her, while Rika and Pamela would thin out the accompanying four members from Class-3. 

They'd been just confirming their plan when Haku suddenly stopped her attacks.

"Ugh, you're tough. I guess this is to be expected from Class-1."

Seeing a pause in opponent’s attack, Misato followed with her own attack. She hoisted her wand, and following her gestures, a cylindrical shaped construct (holy attribute) rose from beneath Haku's feet. 

Haku was startled at the attack from an unexpected angle. She hadn't seen it but the alarms rang inside her head because of «Danger Sense» skill, and this gave her an edge in avoiding the attack, albeit narrowly. 

"!! Whoa—! You surprised me."

"Huh, you dodged that? What kind of skill do you have?"

"Fufu, you gotta beat me to find out. —«Blazing Haze»!"

Haku didn't stop and immediately followed with another of her magic. The space suddenly fluctuated and soon, flames began to fill the area, hiding Haku and her four teammate's figure amidst. The range of spells was too big to explore.

It seemed like it was their measure against Rika and Pamela to prevent them from suddenly pouncing on the field and attacking others. Rika and team raised their vigilance now that their opponents weren't in plain sight.

"Hmm, we're in trouble if this goes on. Carelessness is the last thing we need."

Rika was about to jump in, but something crossed her mind and she stopped herself.

"I know you want to be done with us, but I can’t let you do it. I would have you tag along with me for a moment. Fret not, I have many moves that you wouldn't be bored with."

"Well, no thanks. —Rikky, Pamecchi, I will solve it. You just have to be ready."

"Of course."

"I am always ready-desu!"

"Alright, then I will start! Unique Skill—«Sanctuary»!"

The tip of Misato's wand glowed as she intoned her unique skill. 

«Sanctuary». As its name implies, the unique skill of «Sage» creates sacred precincts. When in the range, this would deal damage to opponents, allies will receive continued healing for the duration of skill, plus it also overrides any terrain effect or area magic.

Misato probably figured the spell Haku casted shared the same effect as terrain effect, and decided to go with her unique skill.

"Huh, this—you broke «Blazing Haze»?! It's even dealing damage."

Haku released an astonished yelp when the veil of her spell lost its effect.

"Now's your turn!"

"I am on it! «Dark Art»!"

Like a gust bellowing, a smokescreen capable of inflicting «Dark» ailment shoots from Pamela's mouth. 

Seeing that their cover was broken all of a sudden, leaving them vulnerable, Pamela was sure this would be a direct hit. But... they're facing an elite class who have paved their path to finals. They immediately regained their bearing, and instead launched a surprise attack on Pamela.

" "«Shadow Bind»!!" "

"Rgh!?"

"Wah—what the heck is this?!"

The attack had come from accompanying classmates of Haku. 

Two of them, bearing the same «Shadow» job, promptly activated their spell, and a shadow sash-ish something swooped toward Pamela. Pamela had yet to recover from action earlier and the shadow sash ultimately entwined themselves around her, putting her into the «Bind» status, just similar to «Prison» of Misato.

"Our chance!"

"Well, thanks for forgetting about us!"

A split second after Pamela was put into bind, the two remaining classmates launched an attack from close range. They'd probably used the cover earlier to snuck their way close. On the other hand, Pamela was unable to move. And soon, the attacks were about to connect, however they're interrupted.

"I can say the same, eh? You should know a tank wouldn't miss in protecting their comrades. —Twin-sword style «Counter»!"

"Aargh!"

"Impossible!!"

Rika wedged herself in their path and promptly turned the table on two opponents, and made a counter. Before they could recover their posture, Rika chained her another attack.

"«Secret technique - Swallow Flip»!"

"—!"

One of the surprised attackers was already staggering backward, and eventually was blown away when Rika launched the follow up counter. 

The damage was especially huge since the opponent was momentarily stunned from initial parry, then the «Swallow Flip» dealt another massive damage.

Receiving the attack, the bare armor of Scout barely held on and it instantly cleaved 70% HP, and pushed them to down status.

Meanwhile, the situation took a turn between the rest of Class-3 and Class-1 members.

"Hold on, I will immediately remove it. —«Cure»!"

*Sclink*

A sound akin to glass shattering echoed, and a moment later, the shadow sashes binding Pamela came off.

"Yay! Thanks a bunch, really!"

Finally, with the help of Misato, Pamela found herself free from «Bind» status. But she didn't linger in joy for long and drew her sword. And bringing that staggering AGI to use, she lunged at the opponent who put her in the «Bind».

"Get ready for retribution!"

"Damn, how did you recover so easily!!"

The scouts were startled that their technique was so easily resolved, and hurriedly attempted a cover defense, but they're a step late.

"Fall back, everyone! —«Flameon Snake»!"

"You aren't doing anything this time! —«Reflection»!"@@novelbin@@

On the other hand, knowing it would be a stretch, Haku still hurried up to support, but Misato showed her prowess there and promptly erected the «Reflection» screen, repelling the attack to Haku back.

"Ack—whoa!"

Haku swiftly side-stepped to dodge, and by then, Pamela's attack had already pierced the two scouts.

"«Give Me Your Life»-desu!"

"I-I don't want toooo!"

"Nooooo!!"

Since speed was her forte, Pamlea capitalised on it and thoroughly broke the rhythm of two scouts. 

Among Pamela pinning down two members, Rika pushing back other two scouts, and Misato being wall to restrain Haku, the situation slowly turned in advantage of Class-1.
