Vol. 11 - Chapter 566 - The Decisive Strikes! The settlement of Class Leaders!
A hot minute had passed since Jay became the wall to give Keel the opportunity to escape.
Jay's HP now hovered at 20%, a dangerous point, however his brave action had granted ample time to escape from the clutches of Class-8's Lacritta, Mert, and Noel.
"Go berserk! Go beyond! Supernatural Technique — Aqua Lara Clayhand!"
"! Go away, «Mike-On Impact»!"
"Haa—«Dark Drain»!"
«—Pon! Burn and decay, maifest the fantastical flames of curse—«Cursed Flame»!"
The two giant hands Jay conjured up with his supernatural abilities rampaged, bellowing the wind of destruction in the surrounding.
Noel followed with an impact skill and succeeded in destroying one of them. Meanwhile, Mert unleashed his dark attribute magic, while debuff-tank Lacritta shot black flames capable of inflicting abnormal status, in an attempt to destroy the second hand. But—
"Manifest and trample, the giant stampede—«Aqua Lara Clayleg»!"
However Jay manifested a pair of clay legs and used it to fend off incoming strikes. And then used the momentum to launch a kick at Lacritta.
"Go on, and trample her! The Leg of Aqua!"
"Don't go all mighty with mere legs! —«Frigid Pace»!"
But Mert acted on the moment, and activated the ice spell, destroying the giant leg.
"—Ah shit, now this is unexpected. ...tsk."
Seeing as how his trump card was nearly destroyed, regardless it had been strengthened by ability overload effect, Jay's shoulder heaved as he cursed.
It was bound to happen. After all, Class-8's members had been crazily buffed by Noel's unique skill. They would have otherwise required the usage of multiple third-order skills to contest against Jay's unique skill. It went to say the potent effect of Noel's buff.
"Haa, you're speaking our words if anything. I must say you are something to hold the three of us..."
Mert murmured to his rambling. A faint trance of admiration was mixed behind his words.
It stands to reason. Mert, Noel, and Lacritta were the strongest tag-team Class-8 could've offered. But Jay single-handedly stalled them. And this was brought by the support from his own unique skill.
—«Ability Overload».
Activating the ability would consume a certain amount of MP/second, but for the duration, it would grant the user an extremely potent buff that enhanced skills and spells greatly. That said, unlike what the skill name suggests, the user wasn't exactly left with a bad after effect.
Also, for the duration of the unique skill, users would also gain access to 'Aqua Lara' category spells. The spells versaily and strength had required at least two people to be his opponent. This was why when Jay manifested two giant hands, it took Mert and Noel's effort to stop him.
"You're strong, Jay, I give that to you. However, the game ends here."
Mert pointed his wand at Jay and announced that their confrontation was nearing end.
Mert leeway had came from their numbers. While there had to be at least two members to face Jay, they're three. Meanwhile, the confrontation had left Jay deprived of nearly all of his HP and MP. Nevertheless, with an intense spirit dwelling within his eyes as ever, Jay returned the resolute gaze.
"Hmph, you should have known I am being chosen as leader of Class-10 for a reason! —«Stonehedge Circle»!"
And so Jay unleashed what seemed to be his final, and strongest spell.
Enhanced by the «Ability Overload», the spell appeared to be a domain-type magic. Promptly, the count of rocks or boulders exponentially increased around Jay. They whole sky around them was hidden behind their shadow, and from a glance, it was like they're glancing at a flying island. In normal scenario, he could have manipulated only slim or small size rocks or boulder, so this was the power brought to him by the unique skill.
With numbers of rocks so magnitudally high, it was no-brainer Mert and team would require something more than single target attack. On the other hand, the spell had nearly drained all of the leftover MP of Jay. So it was his attempt to eliminate the leader Mert at the very least.
"Haaaaa! Time to settle it, Mert!"
"Bring it on! Let's see who win in this battle of unique! The chaos descended, unique skill—«Apocalypse»!"
*Boooom*
A flash of light dominated the area for a short moment, followed by a thunderous boom and a shockwave.
Mert's strongest offensive spell instantly pulverized the giant, flying boulder, and created a huge explosion.
"Gaaaaahhh!!"
Caught up in the blast radius, Jay was blown away like a ragdoll and rolled over the ground.
"Incredible..."
Lacritta let out an impressed whisper.
The impact, the tremendous power, and the lingering thunderous roar eluded to the power beheld at the fingertips of Mert. In fact, he had been under the direction of a stone shower—the fragment of giant boulder left behind after its destruction—too, but he easily warded against them.
"And the victory is mine, Jay."
Mert declared his victory as he held his wand high. However, as the fumes and dust finally settled down, Jay's figure was no longer there.

Meanwhile—after managing to escape by taking support of his comrades, Keel heaved a sigh as he had the healer remove the «Fear» debuff.
"Rgh. Haa. I had underestimated the tank..."
He recalled back the two-handed shielder girl. On the surface, she appeared to have quite a reserved persona, and weak-willed for a lack of words, but hidden behind that person was a formidable tank.
Realising how he could have lost against her if they'd been locked in 1vs1 battle, Keel face scrunched in frustration and regret. And the price was paid by Jay, who had left behind to give him a chance to escape. But even he knew how tall of a task it was to held a fort against the strongest members of Class-8.
And to make it worse, Jay's unique skill wasn't exactly a friendly skill either. If anything, the 'an eye for an eye' kind of exchange for power was no less than a curse.
A streak of worry seized Keel. He wasn't sure if Jay could make it back safely. And if he did get eliminated here, all the strategy he had built would be dusted to ground. It might even create a crack on their alliance with Class-10 and Class-3.
However, the risk was needed to be taken, for Lv67 Jay was the only person who could have achieved that. If he himself had been eliminated there, the cooperation with Class-3 was bound to be shattered. And by then, they might not have been able to constrain Class-1 and Class-8 just by themselves.
No matter the scenario, it would have been a rock and hard situation for Class-9. The only silver lining was he also had formulated the backup plan too—a plan that would ensure Class-9's high-ranking position in case he was eliminated. He was prudent enough to take even the worst case scenario in his calculation.
But since he was still here, it wasn't yet too late. Keel looked ahead with determination, when—the healer, who had been running sideways beside him, was suddenly eliminated.
"W-What the heck?"
"Hmm, you're finally out of your protective circle huh, Class-9's leader."
The first thing Keel noticed when he turned around was the glittering effect. Then gradually, his gaze captured the person he was facing. His noble attire like elegant equipment, one-handed long sword, blonde hair, and extremely attractive features.
After nearly suffering his sneak attack earlier, he promptly recognised him—he was Reglam from Class-8.
"A-Ambush!"
The boy who had landed Keel his shoulder for support shouted as his eyes narrowed in shock, albeit Reglam was already upon them.
"Not this time, «Thunderclap Strike»!"
"Aaargh!!"
"Ack!"
Reglam's glowing sword—enchanted with lightning attributes—cut through the air while raising a crackling sound like lightning, and landed on both the boy who was supporting Keel, and Keel himself.
The boy supporting Keel had no time to escape and received the strike squarely, falling into down status. Keel suffered from the same fate as well.
As a matter of fact, Lacritta's «Be A Junk of Piece» skill effect had still been affecting Keel. So Reglam's strike easily reaped more than 50% of his HP.
Reglam ignored the boy and approached Keel.
"H-How could it be! Why are you here?"
The down status left him not even the leeway to stand up, so Keel questioned while rolling on the ground. Confusion had seized him so his words weren't clear, but apparently he was asking what Reglam was doing here.
"Of course, to deliver the decisive strike I missed earlier. My battle has yet to end."
Hearing Reglam, Keel finally recalled the earlier situation.
Reglam had escaped in the east direction after a sneak attack on him. And east was the direction where their base lies. In short, Reglam had seen through the situation and patiently waited for them to use that path to deliver his judgement.
To head to east, the strategic location over which the skirmish had kicked off was needed to be first crossed. It was anyone's guess where the Class-9's base was when they arrived with such a fan-fare. At the same time, given that this was their home ground, and their force laid out, Keel or his comrades didn't bother with detection skill.
In the end, this allowed Reglam to ambush them, and eliminate his opponent this time with certainty. As soon as he had spotted their team, Reglam closed the distance within a split second using «Lightning Draw», then chained his «Flash Lightning» and eliminated the healer first. Healer was the sole variable that would've otherwise become Keel's final straw to hang on.
Releasing the glittering effect as ever with his movements, Reglam at long last delivered his blow to Keel.
"Goodbye, Keel. «Vanquish»!"
"It's Plan G—!"
No one knew to whom Keel's words were meant for, but these were the only words that linger behind as he was shown the way out. @@novelbin@@
Affirming that, Reglam eventually turned to the remaining boy and delivered the same decisive strike. And after giving a last glance at the lack of enemy presence, he sprinted in the direction of Mert.
T/N - Heya, everyone. Hope your end of year is going great. So, well, It's been quite a while since my schedule went haywire, messing up my chapter update frequency for good couple of months now. I know a shifty update frequency is more annoying than anything, also reducing the interest, and this week intend to be my last. It will be my effort to release chapters at a consistent timing again.
