Reincarnated into a Game As the Hero’s Friend

Chapter 231.2

Chapter 231.2

“Welner-sama, so what should we do about this?” (Valcay)

“Ah… this is indeed something I hadn’t thought of.” (Welner)

The Farlitz knights who surrendered and became prisoners of war were stripped and tied up, not only to their swords and armor, but also to their shoes, and the wounded were treated to the point that they did not lose their lives. The loot was piled on top of the wagons.

Welner’s miscalculation was that Farlitz’s horses went into full prostration mode in the meadow beside the road after having their fill.

These horses could not lie down since they were still wearing a saddle, but the horses could also sleep standing up.

In front of Welner’s eyes, many of the Farlitz horses had started to sleep with their eyes closed while still in the saddle, and some were even snoring. Welner was unusually disturbed by the sight of a hundred horses in a relaxed state.

Horses were valuable trophies as long as they could be ransomed. These horses could not be left unattended as it would be pitiful if they were attacked by demons.

While everyone on both sides, including the captured Farlitz knights, looked at each other with a look of helplessness, Welner let out a big sigh.

“Valcay, send a messenger to Max’s group and to the Crown Prince’s main army as well, and we will interrogate the prisoners here until we meet up with Max’s group. Adventurers and mercenaries will guard the perimeter, while the knights will have the prisoners dig a hole to bury the bodies and keep an eye on them.” (Welner)

“Ha!” (Valcay)

In response to the instructions, Vacay went off while Gekke and his men were deployed to the perimeter to stand guard. The reason they were smiling was because Werner looked confused in public, which was unusual for him.

Werner noticed this and called out to the most influential prisoners. It was a relief that only he himself was aware that he was venting his anger on them.

“…Honestly, I don’t really understand.” (Knewbell)

“Is that so?” (Welner)

Count Knewbell, the de facto commander of the Farlitz Army, who had been forced to kneel with his upper body naked as a result of being disarmed, responded to Welner’s questions with a somber expression on his face, with Neurath and Schunzel holding back on either side.

Count Knewbell had been caught up in the chaos when the first of many horses swarmed the bait, and he had fallen off his horse and broken his leg. There was no denying that the count had no luck, as he was unable to fight and ended up being captured.

“So you are saying that the fourth prince Rudiger was following the oracle?” (Welner)

“That’s right.” (Knewbell)

The Count responded rather gravely to Welner’s questions, even showing an expression that intentionally called the price without honorifics instead of ‘His Highness’. Looking up at Welner, whose disbelief was showing on his face and entire body, Count Knewbell added.

“I have not spoken falsely. You know that there is a priestess in Coltrezis who can receive oracles.” (Knewbell)

“In a manner of speaking, I have heard of it.” (Welner)

Welner’s reply was cautious, as he had consulted Prime Minister Falkenstein and Grand Duke Seyfart about the possibility that the priestess had been replaced by a demon.

Both Knewbell and Welner were cautious because they did not know how much information the other party possessed.

On the other hand, Count Knewbell’s side had no choice but to speak. The prince and many of his knights were prisoners of war, and at the same time, he remembered Welner’s reputation as the slayer of Demon Generals.

Count Knewbell also realized that the stomachache was false and had a new sense of urgency about what this man named Welner might do.
