Chapter 929: If You're So Good, You Do It
Seeing the third soccer player's expression, Su Xiao silently got up, drawing his Dragon Flash from his waist and staying alert. He didn't need to confront Alice directly, just question the opponent, but he had to remain cautious.
"Such good luck?" the detective loli said, somewhat incredulously.
"Hey, hey, hey, if the third soccer player is Alice in disguise, 'she' has 80 points in all five attributes and all skills at level 40. Are you going to engage?" the Catwoman asked, surprised to see Su Xiao draw his blade.
"Third brother!" the eldest soccer player shouted, sensing something was wrong, and immediately stepped between Su Xiao and the third brother.
"Huh?" The third brother looked at Su Xiao in confusion, his 'solemn' expression fading.
"Brother White Night, what are you doing?" The third brother was puzzled but then seemed to understand something. A second later, a notification appeared.
[Announcement: Player No. 8 has used the questioning authority on Player No. 8. The questioning failed. Player No. 8 is not disguised as Alice.]
This was a prompt from Reincarnation Paradise. No matter how powerful Alice was, she couldn't deceive Reincarnation Paradise; otherwise, contractors wouldn't have been transported into the castle. The announcement verified the third brother's identity. Su Xiao sheathed his Dragon Flash and returned to the sofa.
"Why did you act like you were exposed when you're not Alice?" the detective loli asked, exasperated.
"Sorry, I just thought since this is a deduction game, that expression looked cool. My bad," the third brother said with a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his head.Pi Pan rubbed his forehead, the man with gold-rimmed glasses leaned back on the sofa, feeling a sense of doom, and the Catwoman kept her eyes on Su Xiao. When the third brother was suspected of being Alice, everyone except the eldest and second soccer players who protected him had retreated, but only Su Xiao had stepped forward with a knife.
"Not good," the Catwoman muttered, her furry ears twitching as she kept a safe distance from Su Xiao.
"This is both bad and good news. Since the third soccer player isn't Alice, I suggest skipping the other two soccer players. What do you think?" the detective loli asked, tearing a sheet of white paper into eight pieces, each marked with a code, summarizing the round's information.
"Agree," Pi Pan said, explaining that testing the third soccer player first was to see if Alice would object to the elimination method plus self-questioning and room number questioning.
Since no one objected earlier and when Su Xiao approached the third brother with a knife, the eldest and second soccer players instinctively protected him, it was clear they had long-term teamwork habits. Even the slightest change in their formation would be noticed immediately by the others.
Testing the third soccer player's identity was also a way to observe the reactions of the other two. Statistically, with only eight players, the chance of Alice hiding among the three soccer players was 24%. However, practically, Alice would likely not hide among them due to their close bond and quick identification of any abnormality.
The other five were different. They didn't know each other before entering the demon castle game, and even now, they have limited understanding of one another.
Therefore, Alice was less likely to choose the three soccer players. Verifying the third brother's identity was efficient since it partially cleared the other two. Verifying one was like verifying three.
"Overall, we made good progress. Excluding the three soccer players, we have five people left and six questioning chances. Now… let's see when Alice reveals her true colors," the detective Loli said, performing impressively in the game.
"How about we change the rules? Instead of questioning in reverse room number order, let's go in the correct order. Tomorrow, verify me first, then number 2, number 3, and so on. What do you think?" the detective loli suggested, looking at Su Xiao and Pi Pan. She understood their intent: anyone disrupting the game would be dealt with, whether or not they were Alice.
"You just want to verify yourself first to ensure your safety. But I agree," the Catwoman said, shifting from her earlier agitation to a calm demeanor, indicating she had been deliberately stirring the pot as bait.
The Catwoman had disrupted the game, and anyone supporting her would be 30% likely to be Alice. With the situation clearer now, she stopped interfering.
The man with gold-rimmed glasses had interrupted the woman's disruptions earlier, making him suspicious in her eyes. Detective loli suspected Pi Pan of his activity, while Pi Pan suspected her for the same reason.
"This is my suspect list. We're all on it, with suspicion percentages. The higher the percentage, the more suspicious," detective loli said, arranging eight pieces of paper on the stone table, each labeled:
White Night: 29%Cocoa Bean: 21%Pi Pan: 20%Glasses: 10%Catwoman: 9%Soccer Player 1: 6%Soccer Player 2: 5%Soccer Player 3: 0%
Surprisingly, the detective loli judged Su Xiao as more suspicious than Pi Pan.
"'Glasses' must be me," the man with gold-rimmed glasses said, adjusting them. He recalled the detective loli's earlier sycophantic address of "Wosh bro," but now he was just "Glasses."
"Uh… Wosh bro, I ignore code names when deducing," the detective Loli said sycophantically.
"Little Cocoa Bean, you remember your code name very well," he teased.
"Ugh, so annoying," she snapped, glaring at him.
"Unexpectedly, I'm the most suspicious," Su Xiao mused, feeling his actions made him less likely to be Alice.
"Your chance of being Alice is lower than Pi Pan and me. But… you probably planned to kill us all when the game started," detective loli said, swallowing nervously as everyone looked at Su Xiao, the soccer trio looking unsurprised.
"No way, I'm very reasonable," Su Xiao said with a smile, eyeing the detective loli, his gaze clearly saying, "Another word and you're dead."
"Uh… I was just joking," she said with a forced smile, modifying the suspect list order.
"Scared into submission, this data is unreliable, Cocoa Bean," the man with gold-rimmed glasses said, holding a timer. Daytime lasted only an hour, and 49 minutes had passed.
"If you're so good, you do it," she retorted, glaring at him. He raised the timer.
"Ten minutes left."
