Chapter 211 - 210: Mr. Gu, Is it Fun to Pretend to be Hurt?
Chapter 211: Chapter 210: Mr. Gu, Is it Fun to Pretend to be Hurt?
Ming Yao had watched over the man throughout the night in the hospital.
When dawn was barely breaking the next day, the man slowly opened his eyes.
Looking at the woman sprawled at the side of the bed, a trace of softness appeared in Gu Siting’s deep eyes.
He lifted his hand, wanting to stroke her head, but realized his arm was wrapped in gauze.
Ming Yao hadn’t fallen into a deep sleep; the moment the man on the sickbed moved, she woke up.
Their gazes met.
A silence as heavy as death ensued.
After that night’s incident which hurt their feelings, the atmosphere between them carried a hint of subtle awkwardness.
Still, Ming Yao didn’t overact, considering he was the one injured.
She was the first to break the silence, “I asked the doctor, you’ll recover after some rest, there won’t be any amputation, whether of an arm or a leg.”
Gu Siting swallowed hard, and almost choked upon hearing her words.
Even though he had purposely let the truck hit him, he had not intended to end up needing an amputation.
Already feeling unworthy of her because of his condition, if he became disabled, he would have no face to keep her by his side!
However, he had no intention of revealing the truth.
“Mrs. Gu, will you forgive me?” His voice was low and hoarse, laced with a hint of inexplicable seduction.
Ming Yao pursed her lips and didn’t answer him. Instead, she changed the subject, “I asked Aunt Zhong to bring some food over, do you want to eat something?”
Gu Siting looked at her with inky black eyes, and after a moment, said, “Feed me.”
Ming Yao, “…”
Reluctantly, Ming Yao still served the bowl of porridge, sat beside the bed, and obediently fed him.
The man was rather fussy; he shook his head, “Haven’t rinsed my mouth yet.”
“How are you going to rinse your mouth in this state?”
“Help me.”
Ming Yao took a deep breath, reminding herself that he was the patient, and it was just about going along with whatever he wanted.
One of his legs was in a cast and both arms were bandaged, making it quite challenging to assist him to the bathroom.
The short distance made Ming Yao break out into a sweat.
The man stood in front of the washstand, leaning against her body, “Mrs. Gu, help me.”
He couldn’t move his arms, so it had to be her.
With great effort, she managed to help him rinse his mouth.
“Mrs. Gu, take a whiff.”
The man’s sharp-featured handsome face suddenly closed in on her.
Ming Yao hadn’t expected him to lean in suddenly, and as she stared at the handsome face just inches away, her heart seemed to skip a beat.
After rinsing his mouth, the light and fresh scent mingled with the unique cold fir fragrance from his body became overwhelming, seizing Ming Yao’s respiratory system.
She instinctively retreated, but with the man standing on one leg, her stepping back caused his tall body to sway unstably.
Ming Yao had no choice but to reach out and steady him again.
“Don’t come so close to me,” she warned, glaring at him.
“Mrs. Gu, I need to pee.”
Ming Yao’s fair earlobes reddened, and reading something from his eyes, she shot him an angry look, “Don’t think I’ll help you with that. Hold it in; I’ll call a male nurse.”
Gu Siting, “I won’t show it to anyone else, only Mrs. Gu.”
If he wasn’t sick right now, she really felt like kicking him!
“I won’t look at such an eyesore, figure it out yourself.” Ming Yao pushed him up to the restroom entrance and, no longer caring if he was steady, quickly ran out.
She stepped out of the ward and used her hand to fan her heated cheeks.
However, within a few seconds, she heard a loud bang from the bathroom and hurried back in.
Inside the restroom, the man hadn’t fallen. He had deliberately knocked a cup to the floor, seemingly wanting to see the woman’s reaction.
Seeing her rush in so quickly, a thin layer of smile spread over his dark brows and eyes.
Ming Yao realized the man was doing it on purpose, her little face sunk, “Gu, Si, Ting.”
“Mrs. Gu, you do care about me.”
Ming Yao couldn’t be bothered with him anymore.
Was he the Kid Gu, playing such childish tricks?
Yanxi, Mu Chengjin, and Fu Yunshen, upon learning about Gu Siting’s car accident, all came to visit him one after another.
Yet, his parents did not come to visit at all.
Ming Yao thought about how, except for Old Madam Gu’s affection for him, he wasn’t favored by others in the Gu Family; she felt a deep sense of pity and compassion.
Once she harbored such emotions, she couldn’t bring herself to hate him anymore.
Just two days ago, she thought about never associating with him again, yet at this moment, she began wanting to protect him in her embrace.
She even started to suspect whether he had staged the car accident to win her sympathy.
Ming Yao continued to take care of Gu Siting in the hospital for several days.
Today, as he was asleep, she planned to visit the suburban courtyard, as she hadn’t seen Little Snowball for quite a few days and missed it dearly.
Just as Ming Yao stepped out of the ward, she saw a figure sneaking around.
“Who are you looking for?”
The man saw Ming Yao and seemed startled. Lifting the fruit basket in his hand, he said fearfully, “I’m here to see Mr. Gu.”
“Gu Siting?”
“Yes, yes.”
The man carrying the fruit basket was the truck driver, who thought he would have to pay a huge compensation, but the traffic police told him there was no need for it, leaving him in disbelief.
When Gu Siting was brought to the hospital that day, the driver followed, and he had been too afraid to show his face for the past few days, dreading potential bankruptcy from compensation.
Learning that he didn’t have to pay compensation, he thought of visiting Gu Siting in the hospital.
“He is sleeping right now, I am his wife; if there’s anything, you can tell me!”
The truck driver hastily handed over the fruit basket to Ming Yao, “Mrs. Gu, I’m here to thank Mr. Gu. He doesn’t require me to compensate. I’m truly overwhelmed! Even though Mr. Gu clearly could have avoided the accident that day, it was indeed me who violated the traffic rules first, I… ”
Ming Yao slightly furrowed her brows, “He clearly could have avoided the accident?”
“Yes, yes.” The truck driver took out his mobile phone, which had a video he copied from his dash-cam, “Take a look, it seemed like Mr. Gu was determined to die, it really gave me a shock!”
After watching the video, Ming Yao was completely stunned.
It took her a while before she spoke, “Could you send me that video?”
“I, I can.”
After obtaining the video from the driver, Ming Yao returned to the ward.
Staring at the man on the hospital bed for a few seconds, she entered the bathroom.
Gu Siting, whose sleep was already light, suddenly opened his eyes upon hearing a woman’s scream coming from the bathroom.
Realizing the scream came from Ming Yao, he quickly threw off the blankets and got out of bed.
Pushing open the bathroom door and seeing Ming Yao lying on the floor, he reached out his hands and scooped her up horizontally.
He hobbled out of the bathroom with Ming Yao in his arms and suddenly sensed something was amiss. Lowering his head, he looked at the woman in his arms.
She hadn’t fainted at all, and at that moment, she was staring at him without blinking.
The two, eyes locked.
Gu Siting was thoroughly taken aback.
In his dark, deep pupils, Ming Yao saw a flicker of panic.
“Mrs. Gu…”
Ming Yao suddenly wriggled free from his embrace, a cold sneer curling on her lips, “Mr. Gu, is it fun to play the victim?”
His arms and legs were not seriously injured at all.
Wrapping himself up tightly, making her care for him in the hospital for days on end, almost like a monkey played by him!
What do you think?
