RISE OF THE HOLY DEMONIC GOD

Ch 86: Veylen Shadowthrone [2]

After a small quarrel with the three relic spirits, Veylen looked at Rey, who was still sitting in the corner of the room. It seemed like he wasn't ready to come out after the threat he received.

"So, I was talking about the reason you were able to meet the requirements without having talent or affinity. What I found in you is something that no one else in the world may have seen in their entire life," he said. Rey's sad face lit up with joy after hearing that he possessed something unique.

"What is it? Is it something powerful or hidden inside of me, like some main character?" he asked eagerly.

"Well, I don't know what a main character is, but I do know that it isn't something powerful or unique. What you have is fondness...."

"Huh~~~~."

"What do you mean by fondness? Is it something cool that I didn't know about, or the same word that means affection or liking?" Rey asked, confused about who had such fondness for him that he got a chance to join such a prestigious family.

"The fondness you have received is not a common affection that everyone experiences. The one who is fond of you is not someone even our ancestors could connect with. The law itself, being a normal law, cannot form an ego or mind of its own. An origin law is incomparable to other laws, as it was formed when the world itself was created. Over time, these origin laws developed minds like living beings, giving birth to egos or minds that now provide power to others.
Your fondness with will of Law element, which has reached perfection, is far more significant than someone with a hundred percent affinity. Affinity allows a person to use the power provided to them, while fondness is a gift that grants control over that power. For example, affinity is like borrowing something that must be returned, whereas fondness is like being given the will to control it as you wish. However, your ability to control it is currently limited. Once you fully comprehend the law, you may attain a status equal to that of the law itself."

After hearing this, Rey sank into deep thought, realizing that the unique thing he possessed was a fondness of will. However, even this fondness might be something from which he could profit.

"Well, I didn't understand much of it, but after hearing your words, sir, I started to think it's good that I can help you. So, in return, why don't you help me increase my comprehension of my law quickly so that I can help you all get rid of that curse or something? You will help me, right?" he said. Although he didn't fully understand, Veylen's words convinced him that this fondness would benefit him later on. Now, he just needed to increase his comprehension with Veylen's help, who should have fully comprehended it like the <Soul> law.

"Well, the thing is, I can't help you with it."

"Huh~~~."

"What do you mean, you can't?"

"I mean my comprehension is not full right now."

"No worries, it may be just a few numbers behind, so I can still learn something from you."

"I can't, as my is at 8.60794%."

"Oh, okay, it's 86.07%, right? We can still manage... Huh, what did you say? 8.6? No, it can't be. must have mistakenly put the number behind the dot, right?"

Rey asked, feeling like the ground beneath him was splitting away.

"No, I am the truth. That is my limit, and I can't progress further," Veylen said as Rey's eye twitched crazily.

"Then how can you be the genius above all? Is having comprehension of mere 8.6% a thing of God- level genius to you. Where are your words about being a perfect being? How can you be this powerful with just this level of comprehension? Where is your so-called power above all, which put a curse on you all? Is the curse about getting a debuff of not being able to comprehend the law by -100000000% or something more?"

"No, there isn't any problem with it, but the thing is that I am the third highest in comprehension in our whole family to get to such level."

"So... s-so who is the highest and how much?" Rey asked, as he wasn't in the right mind after hearing such a thing like he was in a strange dream or something in which this guy is sometimes above all and now he is someone who can't even comprehend a law.

"Our Ancestor was the first on to bring it to 11% and something, and the second was at 9.8%. While I am at 8.6% in comprehension." He said, as Rey, who heard it, had his imagination crumbled into pieces and fell backward after losing control.

"It-it's all over now. First, being trash wasn't enough, now I have become a member of a family who is way more trash than others, and all are super crazy to think of themselves as heavenly prodigies." Rey said while clutching his face in madness.

In another corner, Aiden, who listening to everything, was not laughing at Veylen but his face turned into pure shock after hearing his comprehension numbers.

"This guy really is an anomaly to get to this level." He said as he came closer to Rey, who was clutching his face as he felt a sudden shock of pain in his head as he sat up again.

"Hey, ouch. Why are you doing this again, Aiden? Can't you let me wallow in my dejection for being in such a trash family?"

"Rey, yourself, or you might be the person to die from sorrowing over something unbelievable. What you didn't is that even a 0.1% comprehension enough to blast the cosmos into dust by this man right now." Aiden said, as Rey, who was sad, turned into absolute shock after hearing his words as he didn't think that this guy had such power within himself.

"So, is it too hard to comprehend then?" Rey asked Veylen, who was watching his beating process quite normally by Aiden after asking this question with such normal face, after a few minutes of lectures and beatings from Aiden.

"Now do you understand whether it is hard to comprehend or not?" Aiden asked as he pulled up his sleeves again for the second round.

"No, no, I understand everything. It's too hard to comprehend, I understand, just don't beat me up," he said, cursing his destiny for getting into trouble.

"Well, I think you are quite handy in some ways," Veylen said, but not to Rey, but to Aiden, who was still angry at Rey.

"Yes, that's why I can't teach you anything. That's why I was about to tell you more things before you started to mourn over something you didn't know about."

"Oh sorry, please continue," he said as he sat down on the floor to listen to his words.

"So, I was saying that I can't help you, even though the fate of our whole family depends on you comprehending the entire law to set us free. But your fondness for the law can help you bypass the restrictions placed on like us, preventing us from understanding beyond a certain level. That is the only reason why we are cursed and unable to set free from it. So, the final hope is on you to help us. This is not a request; as if you don't do this, be prepared to be alone and aloof in the whole world, despite having many who care for you, like us," he said. After hearing this, Rey felt a chill, something that wasn't fear or scariness or anything right now.

He asked, "Hey, what did you just tell me about being single or something...."
