RISE OF THE HOLY DEMONIC GOD

Ch 90: Umbraveth Archive. [3]

A few minutes ago, while Rey and the others were selecting the eight items, Xeluth'Ruun came beside Veylen and stood there, doing nothing as they both watched selection at the altar.

"Sir, I wish to ask something if you don't mind," Veylen said, breaking the silence between them.

"I do mind it, but to give you some face, ask me what you wanted to, but don't waste too much time as whatever you ask should be finished before they choose the books and manuals," Ruun said, as Veylen nodded and asked his first question.

"Sir... why are you doing this?"

"Huh! What type of question is that? What am I doing right now?"

"I know you're trying be evasive here, but please answer me why."

"Hush, listen closely Veylen. As you know, this archive was formed to collect all the lost knowledge and preserve it to pass down to another legitimate heir who can bring out the true potential of the knowledge. this rule was broken by your family. You all came in and started to take away the manuals and arts, which I easily tolerated because you all were true geniuses, or what we called monsters, who could even beat the central monstrous Gods. So, I allowed you in, but now you have brought a normal over trash kid and said he is the next member of the clan. But why should the knowledge go to this kid when he is not even worthy of it? Even these books he were with the help of those relics which he was maybe even able to get the legacy. So why are you so bent going against me to prove he is a being above you all?" Ruun said, trying not to raise his voice.

"Sir, I understand your concern, but to stop the opportunity to get stronger is to cut the roots of our family freedom and which is not under my way of thinking. I can see something in him, so why can't you? Don't you find anything strange in him, even for a second?" Veylen asked as Ruun sighed and replied.

"No, I didn't see any difference in him. He just looks like a measly mortal being who can't be compared to the likes of us. His world and our are different and you all are trying to pull him in this world which may get him killed much more earlier. "

"Hmm, so that's why you stopped the movement of who knows how many books from coming here. Even around us, there were more than fifty books shaking and about to come forward, but you stopped them. You even limited him to just pick eight when we can keep everything we see in front of us, even if it's thousands of books."

"Listen, Veylen, the world doesn't go according to your rules. The strong rule over the weak, and the weak are left behind. You are one such living... I mean ex-living being who should understand this. You were able to attract about sixteen thousand books, with the highest tier being Primordial. This shows potential, but that guy isn't worth giving a book to, even if he manages to pull some high-ranked ones."

"But sir, it shouldn't be unfair for a kid like him."

"Life is always unfair, Veylen. You may understand it better than me."

"But..."

"No buts. Just let the flow work on its own and don't say anything. I don't want any unnecessary blood spilled here. Don't worry, to keep your mouth shut, your next heir can choose five more books than usual and out of the things I choose for him by myself."

Veylen didn't say anything, but he couldn't do anything right now. So he just nodded, and silence covered the altar again.

~~ Present time ~~

Ruun was prepared to bind the books with Rey, as the energy was ready to make contact with him when the process began.

The energy started to seep towards him from the arts and manual energy.

Just as he was about to connect with the books, a massive amount of pressure generated out of nowhere, crushing everyone standing there to the ground without discrimination.

All were shocked to see such pressure appear out of nowhere, as Ruun was certain it wasn't an attack but something far more significant.

His sight landed above, and his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

What he was seeing was beyond his expectations.

He saw an eye, pure pitch-black eye looking like an abyss ready to devour.

It was staring straight at Ruun and others, and he and Veylen recognized it immediately. This eye was not easily seen, only by particular individuals.

Ruun's eyes widened because the eye he was seeing belonged to someone he never casually meet. The person who had descended was none other than the Will, the entity that formed the entire archive, from which he originated.

The Will of Origin itself, DARKNESS, as the light around started to fade, ceasing to exist.

But before anything more could happen, energy shot from the eye toward the monolith and was absorbed by it as the eye faded away into nothingness.

As everything returned to normal, everyone started to stand up from the ground. Ruun looked around to see the state of everyone after witnessing the origin law, and to his surprise, all others were also standing, except for one person who was not in the place he expected.

Rey, who was standing, was very confused as soon as the strange eye appeared in the ceiling area. Everyone was reduced to the ground, sticking to it as if some pressure had been applied to them.

He looked straight at the eye, thinking he might have been left alone due to his pathetic state of being such a weakling that even the eye showed him mercy.

He felt a little ashamed when he realized that the eye's gaze was directed straight at him as if observing him alone. The eye then looked toward the monolith and emitted a strange power, destroying all the runic language on it, leaving the monolith a blank slate to be written on again.

After everything was over, the eye vanished, and everyone began to stand up.

Rey did not expect anything to happen, but Ruun, who had stood up, had a strange expression on his face. He did not expect Rey to be in good condition. Ruun thought that The Will did not affect Rey due to his low power state.

"Kid, come over and let me finish the binding ritual and please leave, as I need to ask my master why they descended here," he said, his eyes landing on the monolith to start the ritual. His face showed no emotion when he saw that there was no runic language on it, only simple eye staring at him.

His knees began to shake as if overwhelmed by bloodlust or fear. He took a few steps toward the monolith, fell to his knees, bowed his head to the ground, and said,

"I, a mere being of darkness, give my respect to THE ABSOLUTE DARKNESS. Why did you take the trouble to come here? If you had ordered me to come and meet you, I would have done so without wasting any time, my lord", he said, bowing as low as he could.

Veylen also stepped forward and bowed his head in front of the eye radiating such energy, as the area around the altar brimmed with power was getting darker as time goes by with just presence of it.

Veylen signaled the other four to come and bow, as Aiden and the other two spirits also came forward and fell to their knees, feeling the power radiating from the mere eye.

Rey, who was dazed for a moment, also came forward and started to get his knee, for the first time, they heard the sound of the eye.

"<All of you stand up. I didn't come here to see you bow in front of me.>" The voice sounded like a mature female who had gone through many things.

"No, my lord, we lowly beings do not deserve to be in your direct sight. You are someone who stands at the top and only needs to look down to view beings like us," Ruun said like an obedient flattering her with his every word.

"<Maybe over these years of managing this archive you've learned quite a few things, Xelth'Ruun. But I didn't expect that you would also start making decisions on your own, stopping things attracted by someone just because his potential is not good enough. I didn't think you had become so high and mighty to reach this state.>" The eye's voice radiated anger, and Ruun's back was drenched with sweat even though he was a spirit.

"M-my lord, there is nothing like that. I was just thinki...."

"<Who told you to think like that? Didn't I tell you not to do anything that might cause you to cease to exist here.>"

"No, my lord... please have mercy on this lowly being for not following your order. Please give me time to make amends."

"<No, there will be no more time to give you a second chance. You will have to face punishment for this mistake you deem small. You will spend a few millennia the eternal prison for trying to exert your own authority the monolith after the bonding ritual, which I will personally oversee right.>" The eye said, and Ruun's eyes widened after hearing her statement.

"No, my lord, the selection is completed, and this kid is already taking the best he is worth. Please let me complete the ritual and I am ready to face my punishment. What I am doing is for the greater good the archive...."

"<Who told you what is good and bad for the archive? I didn't know that I ever mentioned you about the well-being of the archive by not giving things this guy deserves. And who are you to accept the punishment like you can even deny that? Just shut up and wait until the work is done,>" Eye said with an angry voice as Ruun wasn't able to speak more and just nodded.

"<You over there, and put your hand again on the Monolith.>" Eye said as she looked at Rey, who was shocked to see this happening right now.

"Oh, yes. I am coming ma'am; I mean, my lord," Rey said as he switched the way he talked instantly when he saw Veylen's eyes brimming with anger.

He went toward the monolith, and again, like before, he put his hand on it. The energy inside the monolith started to rage and went inside Rey again, searching over everything that was inside him.

Rey felt much more than before, as before he was feeling that his secret was all over in front of someone, but now he was feeling that he was naked in front of everyone. Everything even himself didn't know or have, was in front of the will guiding the appraisal.

While Rey's appraisal was going on, Will's eyes looked at Veylen, whose whole attention was on Rey, and found that the eyes of Will were on him, as he bowed again and asked,

"Do you wish to ask something, my lord?"

"<Yes, I am quite grateful for your to the one who was deemed worthy and lost for eternity from me.>" her last words were mostly faint which no one was able to hear.

"What do you say, lord?" Veylen asked he saw will talking to herself.

"<Nothing, maybe this time you may be able to get free from the curse.>" Eye said diverting her words.

"Hope, maybe your words come true, my lord," Veylen said as he did have some hope over it after seeing the Will appearing to continue his item selection.

As he was still thinking, the appraisal of Rey came to an end.

The runic language started to appear, and unlike before when it was just a measly six to five lines, it was now written all over the monolith.

Previously, the energy was too small, shooting above and splitting over to get the books.

Now the thickness of the energy was about twenty times more than the previous one.

It split away and rushed over to several places, but to everyone's surprise, eight lines of energy rushed straight above.

Ruun, who was watching the whole thing, was shocked inside, as the place where the lines were going was something that hadn't happened for millions of years. The absolute treasures the archive were placed there, and now this measly kid had the opportunity to attract those things lying there.

"No, my lord, you can't do this ritual. Please stop those things from getting here. You can't waste such things falling into the hands of someone who can't even utilize them," Ruun, without caring for anything, shouted. Before he could say more, thick chains from extreme cold darkness emerged from nowhere and sealed off Xelth into one place as the eye detached from itself while the monolith continued its work.

"You really are trying to raise your voice in front of me. Are you worthy enough to hold this much ground against me? It looks like you have really grown enough in here. You need some more teaching," she said she levitated toward Rey, who was still standing there dazed.

After the energy disappeared, many books started appearing one after another, covering the whole area with books flying around, but no one dared to come near them.

From above, eight books and manuals started to appear, down lazily. They were coming straight toward Rey, who was standing in front of the monolith watching them descend.

"Please, Lord, please reconsider giving them to this kid; he isn't worth it," he said but Will doesn't look at him anymore ignoring it.

He felt quite guilty for not giving the child a few books, and now he had to watch as the child took away all the books before his eyes, which he could never see in his lifetime.

As he was feeling regretful, Veylen came beside him said, "Sir, do you now understand why I was telling you not to do this?" Ruun looked at him, his mind grasping the full situation.

"So, you were right all along, and I was the only one who was crazy. But what did he have to let the Will come by itself?"

"Sir, you still don't understand. It's something no one in our family or anyone in the world have and it's the affection of a being powerful enough to overthrow the world by its mere presence." At first, Ruun didn't, but his eyes widened when he realized whose affection Veylen was referring to.

His eyes landed on Will's eye as he found her still looking straight at Rey nonstop.

"Hahaha, so I was the fool trying to stop the closest being to lord from taking the items. REALLY WAS A FOOL HAHAHA." He said as he began to sink into the floor, with Will's eye disapproving of his interference in the selection process.

"I will remember your face, kid I will see how much you will be able to grow with those things in your hands," he said before sinking completely into the ground.

Rey was left with eight books before his face, revolving around him.
