RISE OF THE HOLY DEMONIC GOD

Ch 89: Umbraveth Archive. [2]

In the archive, we can see that six people were flying in direction: Xelth'Ruun, Veylen, Rey, Aiden, Victor, and Zero

We can see that all of them were levitating by themselves except for one, and we already know who it was—yes, our dear Rey, who isn't quite ready to fly yet.

"You really are a pathetic being. To not even get a flying skill," Veylen said, but little did he know that the guy he thought was a Tier 0 peak being was just a measly Lv.1 slime dancing around.

"But..."

"Shut your mouth, because even if you wish to tell him the reason, he won't understand you right now," Aiden said, as Rey, was coming by his support, just nodded and waited for the place they were about to appear.

After a few more minutes of flying, Rey and the others were approaching an altar-like structure in the middle of nowhere with techniques displayed in every area and corner where the eyes could reach.

They safely landed the small-sized altar and walking toward the center of it.

"Sir Ruun, are we going to begin with the process instantly or may hi...."

"No, I have some urgent work right now and can't waste much time on something that isn't worth it. So just let me get over with it, and you play your little tattered old doll game for a few years until you come back with a new candidate," he said, as Veylen didn't say anything and just proceeded with what was.

"Sir, what are we doing here? Aren't we going to choose my technique now?" Rey asked after hearing Ruun words.

"Kid, this is not a normal archive like a library, where you come in, stroll around, pick up whatever you like, and leave. No, this place has quite different laws from other places. Here, you don't choose the book; the archive chooses the book you're worthy to use and is best suited for you. This way, you won't waste much time. Even those books have a return rune that calls back the books if something happens to the host or is about to happen to book."

Ruun explained as he signaled him to follow, as expected Rey was the only one who climbed the stairs of the altar. What was placed on the altar was not fashionable or cool-looking.

It was just a big pure black slab with nothing written on it, but beings like Ruun could see the faint lines of an unknown language written over which was the pride of the archive. The slab was floating in the altar's main core area as Rey stood in front of it, ready to follow Ruun's instructions.

"So what do I do now, just look at the slab or something more?" he asked as Ruun explained.

"No, you don't have to stare at it. Just put your hand on this monolith, and it will automatically show you and even bring the best technique suited for you."

Ruun explained as Rey did what he was told and placed his hand on the monolith or slab, whatever it was.

At first, nothing happened, but there were things happening that no one could see. Rey felt as if someone was prying into him; the deepest places were no longer hidden was also seen or read by someone. As he felt that the presence was circling around quite a bit more. As even Ruun was suspicious about why it's taking so long.

The Monolith was examining everything inside Rey, from body to soul, even his conscious realm.

After everything was checked and processed by the Monolith, some runic language started to appear on it in different colour of red, blue, purple, light green and many more.

It was neither readable by Rey nor Veylen, nor did the Trio understand it, as even millions of years of experience were not enough to this.As Ruun was the only one who nodded after glancing at the monolith text.

"Quite good for a low mortal level being like you. You're able to get quite number of arts and books for yourself", Ruun said as he told him to step back and Rey did as he was told.

Xelth came in front of the monolith. He snapped his fingers, and the monolith started to emit energy that poured toward the upper area of monolith, shooting toward the upper direction whose ceiling was not visible.

As the energy disappeared in the distance, nothing happened at first but afterward, everyone except Rey feel something approaching them from a few directions.

No one was cautious as what they discovered was: books and scrolls coming toward them like birds flying straight.

As they approached the altar, they started to hover around it, and everyone eyed the items floating around them.

Victor's eyes fell on a certain book hovering nearby, and his attention was completely captured by. As the book that grabbed his attention was a dark purple and Blood color with signs of dark black color on it. With a Blood symbol formed on its center.

His hand started to shake as he moved toward the book, feeling a sense of recognition as if he had seen somewhere before.

As the book landed in his hand, his face was filled with shock. The book he held was one he had been desperately searching for when he was alive. The book was called <Voidborn Blood Genesis>, a mana cultivation technique that was the best he found to be suitable for him by certain someone. This book was related to blood, mana, and body, refining the three main parts of the body: physique, bloodline, and mana. This technique aligned perfectly his fighting style as he was a major energy-supported warrior. If he had sufficient energy for a certain period, no one could defeat him in his tier.

This was what made his name feared across many universes and cosmoses. But alas he didn't manage to acquire it.

"What is that thing doing here? It shouldn't be here. It must be something different with the same name," he said, just as he was about to open it and check. But Ruun's gaze was set on him, and his whole body was drenched in sweat.

He backed away and didn't say anything further to avoid angering the old monster, from which he had no chance of escaping.

"Kid, all the books you are deemed worthy of are here. I didn't expect there to be more than ten books but getting thirty-seven is quite impressive for the likes of you," Ruun said, signaling as all the books came in front of him and lined up straight like obedient knights.

"You may check them and choose the most suitable books you think are useful to you. But there is a limit, eight for you, as I didn't agree to let anyone pick more than five. Seeing your pathetic state and being the first one to appear in Tier0, I offered you more," he said. Rey, who heard it, found them quite good and displeasing as well.

"Sir, can I get the help of my friends over there to choose the books?" he asked, looking at his spirits standing below the altar.

"Do whatever you wish, just don't waste much more time, okay," Ruun said as he went downstairs and started talking with Veylen about something.

The trio went up to the altar beside Rey.

"So, guys, won't you help me choose the books?" he said with a grin as he saw Victor still looking at the book he had picked before.

"Oh, we, but do you really wish to choose the book we select for you? I think you should select by yourself," Aiden said, eager to choose the items but unable to do so without permission, as it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"Oh come on, you didn't even know that my luck is terrible even after living with me for these days? So just help me out as I know nothing about these things here, and I don't have the courage to ask that old man over there," he said, his last line quite low in voice, but Ruun heard it from below the altar.

"This kid isn't greedy or prideful. Well, his character isn't bad enough," Ruun said as he looked at Veylen, who was still unsure why Ruun did not believe his words about Rey's destiny as he know something Ruun did which he shouldn't have done.

On the altar, Rey and the other three were scanning over all the books in front of them.

======

It was the total related items which were in front of him. Rey was sure that all things that appeared here were in one or another related to his abilities and other things which he thought might be the true thing that the monolith checked into him.

"Aidenex, please elaborate on the details here," Rey said to Aiden who was eyeing every single book in detail.

"I am not your encyclopedia to tell you everything," Aiden shouted but still decided to tell.

"I will surely kill you one day. Listen closely. The ranks are decided by the system which are Mortal > Spirit > Core > Nascent >

Ascendant > Saint > Divine > Cosmic > Universal > Eternal > God-King > Transcendent > Primordial > Singularity > and lastly The Absolute. These fifteen are the total ranks of the arts and things we use but only 11 to 12 are known to people while higher ones are still known to a few. Each rank is divided into ten stages of mastery and stuff if need to have while there is a stage above the ten which is called Ascension or Transcendent stage where the person tries to ascend the rank of technique by one level. If succeeded, then it's okay or try again but the possibility goes down with every failed trial to ascend the grade, as even the potential also marks the limit of arts or technique by 99% and only few are able to let it jump above the potential it originally has." Aiden explained the whole thing to him as Rey fell into a strange silence as he looked over the books.

"Sir, I wish to ask something, could I?" Rey looked back and shouted to ask him.

"What kid. Don't expect me to come over and help you as I don't have time for this," Xelth said but still listened.

"Sir, is my talent that much worse like there are many Eternal grade books in here and even some matter study manuals so isn't it good? As even you said that I was able to attract 37 books while you expected less than 10," he asked as what he was aiming for was the admittance of the old man to not say he was less talented again.

"Hahh~~! These era kids didn't even consider what to talk or not, but this Spirit will teach you today not to mess with the likes of us," he said he appeared straight in front of him, which startled him a little as he moved back quite few steps to avoid his range which was meaningless.

"You want to know why you're not worthy, right? Then listen, the number of books you were able to attract was the smallest and tiniest amount I have ever seen. Even a simple guy who came before you, who was till the trash person I see, managed to attract at least two hundred and thirteen books, with the highest grade being Transcendent. But look at you, the highest grade you achieved is Eternal. You're not even worth looking at, yet you're here choosing such precious items. That's only because you're the closest being to our master, who is always closest to the origin law holders. I can't even fathom how you were able to obtain the origin law with such a measly affinity with the Law of Darkness. So be happy and don't try to fly in the sky without even growing a tiny feather on your body," he said nonstop, almost over him to lecture him.

Rey was left speechless as he nodded and didn't say anything, feeling utter shame after the shouting he heard from the unknown man. Aiden and others were okay, even Veylen was okay for one such time. But this old man wasn't even someone he knew. He hadn't even met him before, and he was grading him in such a way like shooing away an insect.

Rey didn't say anything as he went back to pick the books Aiden and the two had chosen from the total ones while just grinding away his teeth not to do something which he may regret to do.

After some minutes of talking and other activities, decided on the eight books he and the others agreed upon.

"Sir, we have chosen the books we wish take", he said as Veylen and Ruun came up to the altar.

Ruun started to count the books for an unknown reason.

"Well good, you didn't steal anything. But even if you did, you might have turned into ash. Hahahaha", Ruun said, laughing at his own words.

No one was smiling, and there was no humorous atmosphere.

"Ahmm~~~! Okay, so tell me what you wish to bind and take away with you," he said, finding the situation quite awkward.

"Sir, we have chosen to take: <Soul Requiem of the Abyss>, <Voidborn Blood Genesis>, <Primordial Abyss Devourer>, <Eternal Arcane Genesis>, <Ethereal Soul Dominion>, <Paradoxical Weapon Dance>, <The Tome of Annihilation and Creation>, and <Omni-Blood Genesis Scripture> as our selections," Rey replied as he picked up all eight books and manuals to take with him. Most of them were above cosmic and divine grade, with some even being of Saint grade, but what he chose was in perfect harmony with each other. The last "Omni-Blood Genesis Scripture" also harmonized well with Voidborn Blood Genesis, being of Universal Potential grade.

"Hmm, quite a good and bad choice. Not taking even half of the Eternal battle arts is a mistake I didn't think you would make. But why should I care?" Ruun said as he was about to do something when Veylen stopped him.

"Sir, are you really going to do such a thing? I didn't expect you to go to this stage until the end," Veylen asked, and for the first time, Rey saw some expression on his face.

"Bahh~~! I told you that I am doing this for the greater good, and didn't I tell you that I will give about five more slots later?" He said as others beside them didn't understand, but the tension was high, and Veylen had to step back from here as he wasn't his match.

Xelth'Ruun just smirked and started to bind the books with Rey as all eight started to float around him in a circle. As the energy was raging to come into contact, when suddenly...

-<To be Continued>-

What are they talking about what five slots later on? Is Veylen trying to betray Rey? Will something happen next, or will the ceremony or whatever it is take place smoothly?
