Ruler's Awakening: Inheritor of the SSS-Rank Dimensional Talent

Chapter 237 The Shadowless Killer

Aerith's last stop on her culinary journey was a western restaurant.

The snacks that were originally piled up in both hands, slowly disappeared because she had eaten them all, alone.

This time, she wanted to eat the main meal. There were many restaurants in that place. Aaron advised Aerith that he couldn't accompany her if she wanted to try the food from all the restaurants.

"Pick one or we'll go home," Aaron replied.

The woman's choice fell on a western restaurant, serving European and American food. There were other reasons why Aerith chose that place, one of which was because of the modern and classy appearance of the shop.

The two stepped inside and were immediately met by a waitress, dressed in a long black shirt and skirt.

Her right hand was seen holding a notebook, in order to write down the customers' orders.

"Welcome to Duck and Chick. May I take your order?" the waitress asked.

Aaron and Aerith looked toward the front, at the menu on the wall. Aerith ordered a burger, while Aaron chose the Chicken Cordon Bleu.

"Alright. We'll deliver your food when it's ready," replied the waiter, inviting Aaron and Aerith to take a table on the first or second floor.

The situation on the first floor was crowded, mostly filled with group mages and people native to Noah City. Aerith didn't like it, so she asked Aaron to go up to the second floor.

They found all the tables close to the windows, displaying the atmosphere of the food district at night.

"I'm glad tonight, all the food was good, except for that scorpion," Aerith complained.

"Only some people eat that. I call it an exotic dish," Aaron explained.

"Exotic, huh? Maybe so."

The two of them chatted quite a bit with each other, from discussing the food to Aaron's next plans.

Aaron would still go on the raid on this floor, even though Noah City sold various comforts that were difficult for them to obtain.

However, comfort should not diminish Aaron's intention to become a Dark Ruler. He was already halfway to the peak stage of the Dark Pillar Tower, while he was currently only 20 years old.

In short, it only took Aaron 2 years to get from the 1st floor of the Dark Pillar Tower to the 50th floor of the Dark Pillar Tower.

The journey from the 1st floor to the later floors was easy, because the monsters' abilities weren't as great as the monsters on the 51st floor.

'Looks like it's going to take me a long time to reach the Dark Ruler, the monsters on every floor starting from the 50th floor aren't easy,' Aaron explained, looking outside and watching the people passing by on the food district street. Experience more tales on My Virtual Library Empire

Before long, their ordered food arrived on their table. A regular sized burger with a balanced portion of Chicken Cordon Bleu. They savored it slowly while enjoying the view of the city.

Although Aerith had eaten a lot, the woman was able to finish the burger she ordered. Unlike Aaron, the Chicken Cordon Bleu was enough to fill him up for the night.

While the two were enjoying the view of the city lights at night, a group of mages from a certain group went up to the second floor.

Aaron glanced sharply to the side, looking at the suits of clothes they were wearing. Thankfully for him, they were not Night Liberators, but Sky Sword.

Sky Sword and Aaron had no history of animosity. Instead, a friendship was well established between the two.

"Some people seem to be acting strange. Are the rumors true?" asked one of the five Sky Sword members.

"Probably. The Dark Legion is a group that is good at disguise. One of its members could be near us," replied his partner.

"Even Elder Kang is patrolling with his special team. It looks like this matter is quite complicated."

As Aaron listened to their conversation, Aerith heard the same thing. The five members of Sky Sword could be heard talking about the rumors that were spreading in Noah City.

The shadowless killer!

"I hope no bodies are found tonight. I need a good meal," one of them complained.

Their food order arrived. Aaron and Aerith were still at the venue, looking outside while listening to the information from the five Sky Sword members.

One by one, they finished their meal. Now, Aaron could chat freely with Aerith without fear of them suspecting him.

"From what they say, it seems like something has happened in this city," Aaron replied.

"A city this size must have criminals. If not, then I can call it a utopia."

"Utopia is just a fantasy. We have to be vigilant, that's because our element is darkness," Aaron explained.

The Dark Legion was synonymous with their dark elemental abilities. Their dark magic was unquestioned by anyone. However, in front of Aaron, the Dark Legion was no match for him.

"Don't interfere with their problems. It will only involve you in a complicated conflict," pleaded Aerith.

"Of course. I know my purpose."

"I'll try to avoid them and stay out of unnecessary conflicts," Aaron replied.

Aerith smiled, happy to hear Aaron's statement. The man was strong, but the people of Noah City were no match for him, not at the moment.@@novelbin@@

With nothing else to order, Aerith and Aaron left the restaurant. They walked away from the food district with the intention of returning to their inn.

Tonight had been a happy night for Aerith, but also a tiring night for Aaron.

The man only hoped that tomorrow could be better than today.

***

The next day.

Aaron was rudely awakened after hearing a noise from below, precisely from outside the inn. Aaron turned his head, seeing Aerith still fast asleep in her sleeping pajamas.

She took a step after getting up from her sleep. Aaron opened the window of the room and looked down, people who were mostly residents of the inn were gathering in the small alley beside the inn building.

The man squinted, curious as to what the people were looking at. Aaron jumped from the room window and flew into the small alley, how surprised he was to see the horror of the place.

A man was dry and burnt to death, his life energy drained away, his eyes missing and leaving only two holes.

'What the—'

'Is this the Dark Legion's doing?' Aaron asked.

Aaron cast his eyes around the surrounding area, trying to find who was solely responsible for this murder.

While he was surveying the surrounding area, he felt a strong magical aura coming near the place.

The man looked back, clearly seeing that it was Elder Kang, along with members of his special group.

"You?" asked Elder Kang.

Aaron nodded. Greeting him as he was equal in strength to him. Elder Kang glared ahead, looking at the clothes Aaron was wearing.

'He's still wearing sleepwear, also he's new here. The culprit probably wasn't him,' Kang said.

He suddenly asked Aaron about the events in this small alley, unlike the members of his special group who were focused on taking care of the corpse.

Aaron shook his head. He explained that he was asleep and heard the hubbub under the inn building.

Out of curiosity, Aaron looked directly. However, he didn't know where the perpetrator was located.

Elder Kang nodded a few times, he looked at the members of his special group who were carrying the corpse of the person in a body bag.

"Be careful, Aaron. Noah City is under the terror of the Shadowless Killer. If you find anyone suspicious, report to our members immediately," explained Elder Kang.

Aaron nodded. He said he would cooperate with Sky Sword if he found someone with suspicious movements.

Elder Kang responded with a nod. He said goodbye to Aaron and flew away.

Some of the inn's visitors were amazed. It was because Aaron could chat casually with Elder Kang, the second most influential person in Sky Sword 50th.

Feeling that there was nothing to worry about. Aaron flew back up and entered the window of his room. As he expected, Aerith was still fast asleep undisturbed on her bed.

'She didn't even wake up from the noise. What a woman,' Aaron said.

KNOCK!

The sound of a knock on the door rang out loudly in the place. Aaron, who had just arrived, immediately focused his eyes on the door.

He stepped closer, his hand began to hold the doorknob. Through Aaron's aura sensitivity, he didn't feel anything dangerous from behind the door.

The door opened, Aaron saw a man in a long black robe. Surprisingly, the black robe man drew a sword forward, making Aaron fail to dodge.

STAB!

"Akh!" groaned Aaron.

"Don't interfere with the Dark Legion's affairs!" said the man.

Quickly, the black robe man left the place with Aaron on his knees. The sword was still embedded in his stomach, but since his body had been well forged in the Venerable Sage tier, the sword's stabbing attack had no significant impact on him.

"You forced me into this conflict!"

"Let me solve this case and bring you all before the Sky Sword!"
