Chapter 115: Chapter 114: The Three-Flowered Cat Headgear (1st Update)

“Your Majesty Mei, are you sure?”

The Lionheart Knight was the first to oppose Queen Mei’s proposal, as in the eyes of the Lionheart Knight… Queen Mei was still just a child.

Even though Queen Mei’s health was more than ten times his, her attack power was about twice his, and her AOE skill’s range was roughly double, and she was two to three levels higher than the Lionheart Knight.

“Jiang Qiao suggested I use streaming to communicate with players, which is a… very novel way of communication, but I also want to talk face-to-face with those spirits.” Queen Mei shared her thoughts, “Also… is it possible that the new world…”

“It really could be possible,” Jiang Qiao interrupted Queen Mei’s speculation. She was guessing whether the remnants of her past people might have… crossed over to that world.

From Hai Lan’s appetite for that world, it seemed there really were some things in that world related to Hai Lan’s past world.

...

“So, axe-wielding man, as well as the Wasp Knight and Wolf Knight, you have work to do as well, which is to secretly explore information related to that new world. You can refuse this part-time job if you like.”

Jiang Qiao took out two teleportation crystals, these crystals were consecrated by the Earth Mother Goddess; one could take the user straight back to the instance lord’s dorm after use, and the other could transport them back to the world they needed to explore after being used again.

“Your Majesty,” the Wasp Knight had already decided to volunteer for the mission, as gathering intelligence was her regular duty after all.

Queen Mei gave a light nod, and Jiang Qiao handed the two crystals to the Wasp Knight.

“The three of you going together is fine. The blue one is the crystal for going home, the red one is for going to work. You just need to remember to come back before Friday. If you don’t come back… the punishment won’t be as simple as a salary deduction. As for how you plan to explore or what things you want to find out, I won’t interfere,” said Jiang Qiao.

The Wasp Knight pondered over the two crystals handed to her by Jiang Qiao for a while but did not say anything. From Jiang Qiao’s observation, the Wasp Knight did not seem like the type to volunteer for overtime.

“Then there’s Mei… It’s no problem if you want to go to Biland Island, but I haven’t yet decided what position you should take up there.”

In Jiang Qiao’s plan, Biland Island would only need one NPC, which should be the NPC responsible for issuing various hunting missions. The rest could be built by the players themselves.

“I could be a guard,” Queen Mei seemed set on taking a cameo role on Biland Island.

When Queen Mei made this request, although the four Knights showed no reaction, Jiang Qiao always felt the atmosphere became a bit strange.

“Forget about the guard, you’ll be a hidden NPC then. As for your role, let’s see what the players will speculate,” said Jiang Qiao, holding a calico cat headgear in hand: “They all know your real face from the Battle of Divinity, so if you want to go to Biland Island, you must always wear this.”

“Why isn’t it a unicorn headgear?” The axe-wielding man couldn’t help but ask, but he was quickly silenced by the Wasp Knight’s murderous gaze.

“Because this cat headgear is a limited edition that players are currently unable to exchange for,” Jiang Qiao, under the watchful eyes of the four Knights, approached Queen Mei and raised the cat headgear to put it on her.

As he did so, the phrase ‘And you shall be crowned king’ kept popping up in Jiang Qiao’s mind.

Queen Mei closed her eyes and seemed a bit nervous when the headgear was being placed on her, but after it was on, she discovered that the headgear was… unexpectedly comfortable?

“How does it feel, Your Majesty? Doesn’t it obstruct your vision?” asked the Wasp Knight with some concern.

The calico cat headgear that Jiang Qiao brought out was cartoonish, making the wearer’s head look very large. Despite the fluffy material, it still seemed somewhat heavy.

“I don’t feel anything,” Queen Mei looked around, the expression on her face changing with the expressions of the calico cat headgear.

It changed from (˘ω˘) to (˚☐˚), then to (•́ω•̀), and finally to (>∀<).

What amazed Queen Mei the most was that her vision wasn’t obstructed at all; if it weren’t for the fact that she could feel the fuzzy helmet when she reached out her hand, she would have thought she wasn’t wearing the helmet at all.

“This is the hidden feature of the player helmets, wearing something like the Knight’s helmet would have made your vision too obstructed,” said Jiang Qiao.

“…” The Knight didn’t know how to respond.

“What exactly should we do?” After getting used to the helmet, Queen Mei asked about their work after they arrived at Biland Island.

“The Knight’s job is simple,” Jiang Qiao said, rummaging in his backpack before pulling out a cart that looked like a mobile store and placed it in front of everyone.

Jiang Qiao opened the entrance at the back of the cart and gestured for the Knight to step inside. The cart was quite large; even someone as tall as the Knight, at two meters, could walk inside without any problems.

“This is where the quest commissions are posted; the players will browse their commissions here,” Jiang Qiao explained, pointing to the front end of the cart which resembled an open door, “Of course, you don’t need to handle these commissions. The players won’t remove them; they can just accept the commissions directly through the window.”

Jiang Qiao went over to the reception area of the cart store. All a player needed to do was to approach the panel full of commissions, and a window with a list of the commissions would pop up before them.

“I’ve given you the admin rights for this cart store; try operating it yourself,” Jiang Qiao said.

Operate it himself…

Standing inside the cart, the Knight felt as though he was a…pub owner behind the bar, only instead of glasses and bottles, two windows popped up before his eyes.

One window was labeled ‘Existing Quests List’, and the other ‘New Quest Creation’.

“I should… be capable,” said the Knight. Even though he was an elderly man, he was neither foolish nor illiterate, and jobs like writing and filing documentation were certainly within his capabilities.

“Whether you’re capable or not needs to be tested in practice. Now, I need to come up with a pseudonym for you.”

Jiang Qiao lightly tapped above the Knight’s head, and an editing box appeared. After some consideration, he added the name ‘Donna Papa’ for the Knight and set it to display only on the map of Biland Island.

“Agent, I would prefer to choose my own disguise name, but I can accept this one,” the Knight looked up at the floating name above his head, not understanding why Jiang Qiao had added ‘Papa’ as a suffix.

Yet, the Knight’s demeanor did fit the tough-guy image of someone who, despite appearing to be with children, could pull out a shotgun the next second and blast someone away.

“Next for Queen Mei, let’s call you Alu for now,” Jiang Qiao assigned the ID ‘Alu’ to Mei without any suffix, just those simple two characters.

“Does this name have any significance?” Queen Mei looked up at the two characters floating above her head, finding them quite novel.

“It’s the name of a cat. I’ve also prepared your clothes for Biland Island. After changing, come with me to start work on the ground.”

Jiang Qiao took out a full-body cloaked outfit for Queen Mei, the fluffy cloak complete with an attached hood, in a style reminiscent of the nomadic tribes.

The Knight’s outfit was simply a white tank top paired with a chef’s apron.
