Chapter 120: Chapter 118: Rescue! (6th update! Extra for alliance leader xbmatt!)
“You have such a high alchemy engineering level, don’t any guild members ask for your help?”
After adding Xia Shan to his group, Jiang Qiao walked with her towards the Tower of Trial’s realm. Jiang Qiao did not engage in creating things like professional life level rankings, but Xia Shan’s life profession levels were top-notch among all players at this stage.
“Help?”
“Like, hiring you to make some stuff.” Jiang Qiao remembered that some items could only be made after achieving high levels in life professions, and some were unique items created by the players themselves.
“No, the stuff alchemy engineering produces isn’t really useful for grinding, and also, why can you only craft things inside the manor in this game? Even the machines made can’t be taken outside.”
Once Jiang Qiao brought up this subject, Xia Shan started to complain, which reflected the awkward situation faced by manufacturing players—that large-scale crafting could only be used within their own manors.
If moved outside of the player’s private manor, they would get confiscated by various little spirits.
“The new map seems to allow it.” Jiang Qiao listened and sneakily wiped the nonexistent sweat from his forehead.
Jiang Qiao restricted the players’ creativity in the real world because he feared they would create some monstrous things, but there weren’t such concerns in other worlds.
“Really? I’ve been so busy with overtime work lately that I haven’t had time to check the guides. Big shot, how do we get to the new map? I’m really worried about my home’s doll girl.”
Xia Shan stopped her nagging mode that resembled a nagging mother, now more concerned about where her wife had run off to than the strategies for the new map.
“The teleportation gate to the new map is in the Tower of Trial; you go ahead and take on the main mission of the new map, and we’ll form a team later,” Jiang Qiao said.
“Okay!”
Xia Shan followed Jiang Qiao to the Tower of Trial, where a green teleportation gate had appeared, but the native NPCs of the Tower of Trial were nowhere to be seen.
It must be that the Earth Mother Goddess had temporarily closed the Tower of Trial to those natives.
Xia Shan needed no guidance from Jiang Qiao to find the teleportation gate to the new map amid a group of fierce-looking top players; she stepped right into the teleportation gate, and when she opened her eyes again, she saw four words in front of her…
Biland Island.
“So many people.”
The moment Xia Shan set foot on Biland Island, she saw all around her players who had completed the Black Dragon Nest and Battles of Divinity.
“Is this cat someone from the cult?”
“No, this cat gives out quests; it seems in the setting she saved Fureya.”
“What about that coachman?”
“Daddy is also giving out quests!”
“And that carriage?”
“…”
Wow… so irritable, Xia Shan, as a qualified unremarkable follower, trailed behind the group of players donned in full epic gear.
They were all gathered around an NPC wearing a cat mask, which Xia Shan guessed must be the key to this new main mission; but where was Fureya?
Xia Shan glanced around and saw an old tree in the distance, clearly more conspicuous than other trees on the island, a scene that any experienced player could instantly recognize as ‘main mission starts here’.
Although Xia Shan was curious about the quests that the cat NPC might have, she still bypassed the wall of top players and ran towards the distant old tree.
Sure enough, Xia Shan saw an entrance beneath the old tree.
‘Main Mission · Pursuing Trails Complete.’
‘Main Mission · Life in Danger Starts, Mission Description: You have found Fureya in a tree hollow, but her condition seems very bad, she needs treatment as soon as possible.’
As Xia Shan walked into the entrance… a prompt popped up; she didn’t need to read the second main mission’s description, just the title told her everything.
Beneath the entrance of the old tree, she finally saw the figure of Guardian Spirit·Fureya, but Xia Shan’s surprise did not last long, as the injuries on Fureya tightened her heart a bit.
Fureya was curled up inside the tree hollow, her fair skin covered with various scratches and cuts, looking very weak. But when Xia Shan approached inside the hollow, Fureya sensed her presence.
“Spirit… you… came.” Fureya greeted Xia Shan in a weak voice, trying to stand up as usual to interact with Xia Shan.
But now, Fureya was too weak to stand up, and she helplessly fell to the ground again.
At the moment she fell to the ground, Fureya’s expression didn’t change; she was still trying to stand up, like a robot executing repetitive commands.
“Stop moving already, will you? Just sit! No, lie down! That’s not right either—lie down!” Xia Shan was nearly crying out of desperation when she saw this. With agility that surpassed her character’s role, she sprinted to Fureya’s side and helped her attempt to stand.
Xia Shan’s affection for Fureya, the NPC, was different from that of other male players. Though she also affectionately called her ‘wife’, Xia Shan’s feelings toward Fureya were more like those toward a little sister, and the kind that is around ten years old, who understands nothing.
Seeing how severely injured Fureya was, Xia Shan’s emotions couldn’t be simply described as heartache—it was as though a knife had pierced her heart and then was twisted.
As Xia Shan approached Fureya, a window popped up next to her, revealing a series of data to Xia Shan.

After reading through the series of data, Xia Shan remembered that Fureya was supposed to be a doll. Do dolls need to eat too?
But Xia Shan remembered that Fureya’s wish was to evolve into a real human. Could it have succeeded?
She couldn’t afford to think so much now; the series of scarlet statuses in the status bar filled Xia Shan with dread. Such conditions would have surely led anyone to the brink of death by now.
Treatment! She must be treated first!
Xia Shan opened her own backpack and amidst a pile of mechanical parts, robots, and excavators, she found the only three HP potions she had.
“Fureya, drink this quickly!” Xia Shan pulled out a bottle named ‘Super HP Potion’ and handed it to Fureya.
But Fureya was too weak to lift the potion bottle.
In a stroke of desperation, Xia Shan uncorked the bottle and poured the blood-like healing liquid toward Fureya’s lips.
“Can you really consume it like this?” Xia Shan watched incredulously as the liquid flowed out of the glass bottle, dripping by Fureya’s lips.
In the game Spirit, taking medicine was just like in traditional online games, placed in a quick slot; players simply had to press the hotkey manually or think about it to use it.
Xia Shan had never actually drank an HP potion before, hence this was her first time learning that HP potions could be physically poured and consumed!
Fureya didn’t truly consume the HP potion, as the potion evaporated upon her body, emitting shimmering glows, and slowly, her health began to increase.
A whole bottle of Super HP Potion could restore approximately one thousand health points, with a cooldown of thirty seconds, yet Fureya’s health points had only recovered by one hundred.
Even this minimal increase in health points gave Fureya a bit of spirit to sit up with Xia Shan’s assistance.
“Do you feel a little better?” Xia Shan hurriedly asked, “Why am I asking this! Let me see what food and drink I have in my backpack.”
Fureya’s status bar clearly indicated her poor condition to Xia Shan—she was close to starving or dying of thirst, and potentially overworking herself to death. In short, without treatment, her wife would be gone!
But when Xia Shan rummaged through her backpack, she discovered something frightening…
She didn’t have anything that could be considered food or water! Potions did not count in this category.
What do you think?
