Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Emergency Rescue Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Emergency Rescue Bryan Hawkins didn’t know where he had been hit, but blood flowed nonstop from his nose and mouth, and his feet were also bloody. His eyes were wide open, and the direction he was looking at happened to be where Carolline Ruiz was rushing from.

Subconsciously, Carolline’s heart momentarily stopped beating.

She rushed forward; she didn’t have any emergency supplies, but she knew she absolutely couldn’t move him during this time because nobody knew whether or not his internal organs were injured. Mishandling him might result in his immediate death, so Carolline took out some tissues just to staunch the bleeding.

At that moment, Bryan’s eyes were still clear, and he looked at the worry on Carolline’s face, as well as her reaction. He knew she was scared, scared enough that she couldn’t help but tremble from head to toe.

He actually wanted to smile or reassure her that he was fine, but then Carolline warned him, “Don’t talk—”. She seemed to have read his mind, so she instructed, “You just need to be quiet. I’ll ask my classmates to inform your girlfriend to come over as soon as possible. For now, just quietly wait for help, and you’ll be fine— it will be fine.”

Her father was the best surgeon, and Bryan would be fine if her father performed surgery on him.

Thinking of this, Carolline hurriedly took out her phone and called Henry Ruiz, giving him a fragmented account of the situation on-site.

The ambulance arrived quickly, within just ten minutes.

Andy Aguirre arrived in time. He was actually performing a live experiment. But upon receiving Carolline’s call, he immediately ran out of the lab, while simultaneously calling People Hospital’s ambulance to tell them to come over quickly.

That was why the ambulance came so fast.

Upon receiving Carolline’s call, Henry Ruiz asked someone to prepare the Operation Room early on and simply waited for Bryan to be sent over.

Once Bryan was successfully transferred to the Operation Room, Carolline’s tense face finally relaxed slightly. Handing him over to her father, her anxious heart finally eased a little.

Andy Aguirre was exceptionally allowed to enter the Operation Room with the others. As Henry Ruiz was his master and his father was the hospital’s best anesthesiologist, everyone knew their relationship. Also, with Andy’s performance in recent years, nobody objected when he entered the Operation Room.

Carolline called Megan Clifton outside, hoping to inform Matilda Ferguson to hurry to People Hospital.

However, Megan was very stubborn and refused to call Matilda. Carolline was so angry that she wanted to die and felt very anxious.

In the end, Megan sent Matilda’s mobile number to Carolline, telling her to call herself.

Carolline didn’t refuse and dialed the number directly. Pressing the number, she called three times in a row but each time received the same message: “The number you dialed is switched off.”

Carolline wanted to smash her phone. Matilda actually turned off her phone at a time like this.

After ten minutes, Matilda finally called back. Since she didn’t have Carolline’s number, she didn’t know this was Carolline’s number, so she spoke politely, “Hello, may I ask—”
“I’m Carolline. Bryan Hawkins is currently in the Operation Room at People Hospital for emergency treatment. Please come over immediately.” After speaking, Carolline hung up.

For a while, Matilda called three times but Carolline didn’t answer any of them, eventually just switching off her phone.

In the meantime, the Hospital’s nurse contacted Bryan’s family.

Carolline saw the Hawkins family first. A nurse let them fill out some necessary forms, then Austin Hawkins rushed downstairs to pay the medical fee. The family members then held each other’s hands, comforting each other.

Matilda arrived an hour after Carolline had called her. Carolline took one glance and didn’t want to look again, until there was a distinct, crisp sound of a slap in the quiet hallway.

Carolline looked up from a distance and saw a clear red handprint on Matilda’s fair skin right at her face. Following that, Mrs. Hawkins’ loud yelling came through, “Haven’t I told you to stay away from him? Are you taking my words as if they are just wind passing by your ears?”

“Mrs. Hawkins, I—” Matilda tried to explain, but Mrs. Hawkins didn’t want to hear anything. “You can leave now.”

“I won’t. I will only leave when I know he is safe.” Matilda was also a very stubborn person, especially at this moment. She clearly knew that she couldn’t leave now.

If she left, everything would be over, but if she didn’t, maybe there was still a glimmer of hope.

Although she didn’t want Bryan to get hurt, she knew that this accident might not necessarily be bad. She clearly understood that this was an excellent opportunity to prove herself to the Hawkins family, and a chance to gain their approval.

So, how could she miss it? How could she leave?

She had seen Carolline hiding from her, but she wisely didn’t entangle with Carolline. She didn’t care how Carolline knew about the accident, but she wouldn’t let the Hawkins family know that another woman even existed in this situation.

Just as Mrs. Hawkins wanted to say something, the light in the Operation Room dimmed. Henry Ruiz walked out, looking somewhat exhausted. Upon seeing Carolline, he smiled, but she didn’t walk towards him.

Soon, the Hawkins family surrounded Henry, so he had no choice but to report the outcome of the surgery. “The operation was successful, and the patient is no longer in any life-threatening danger. He will be sent to the ward shortly. However, due to the significant blood loss, there might be some complications that will require follow-up examinations once he regains consciousness.”

The Hawkins family breathed a sigh of relief. As an elder, Master Hawkins recognized Henry and emotionally grabbed his hand, “Caden Ruiz, thank you.”

“Master, don’t mention it; this is our duty.” said Henry indifferently. He didn’t know Master Hawkins and soon withdrew his hand. He had to explain the situation to his daughter and question her as well.

Truthfully, he was actually on leave today. If it hadn’t been his daughter’s call which required him to do the surgery, he wouldn’t have come today.

After speaking, Henry turned and walked towards Carolline. However, someone was faster than him: Garth Aguirre. He shouted loudly, “Haha, Carolline, do you know that I made plans with your father to go fishing? We were already on the road when your call sent us back. You insisted that your father had to operate. What’s going on? Is the person lying in there your idol? Anyway, he’s saved now and out of danger; so you can rest assured.”

Henry Ruiz and Carolline were left speechless.

In the quiet hallway, anyone could hear it. Carolline’s face turned beet red with embarrassment, especially when the Hawkins family collectively turned their gazes to her, and Matilda’s eyes were filled with hatred.
