Chapter 63 Encounter
Time slowly passed, with Chu Wuyao sitting silently beside the river, with her hand holding the fishing rod carefully.
At the beginning, Chu Wuyao's face was calm and indifferent, possessing an unfathomable look, like a powerful cultivator, but as the minutes went by, her expression was slowly changing.
From indifference, to impatience, to finally anger.
"Fuck! Everything in the novels is simply a lie! Stupid fish!", she finally could not hold on any longer and yelled, jumping off the ground.
Staring at the river in front of her, her eyes turned red and she moved her hands.
Instantly, many black spears made out of the Lifeblood Flame appeared in front of her and with a thought of her mind, they flew straight towards the river.
"Bang! Boom! Boom!"
Tens of blazing spears fell in the water and because of their extremely high temperature, a large amount of water evaporated, turning into a white mist.
Regardless, Chu Wuyao continued creating spears and bombarding the river, as if she would not rest until this river was destroyed.
The ground under her feet shook violently as the flaming spears landed on the water, and if it were not for the current occasion, it was obvious that Chu Wuyao would have taken the Blood Flag out too, turning this place into an ocean made out of blood.
"Bang!"
It took some time for Chu Wuyao to calm down her anger and for her expression to return back to normal.
"See? Compared to normal fishing, my way of fishing is way better...", she whispered to herself, trying to convince herself.
Staring at the bloody red river and the countless dead fish that were floating on its surface with their bellies facing up, she felt that she had been wasting her time previously.
This was the correct way of fishing!
With a smile on her face, Chu Wuyao picked up a few of the dead fish and brought them to the shore, then sat down and used the Lifeblood Flame to cook them.
With the flame's high temperature, it didn't take long for the fish to get cooked and become ready for eating.
Tracing the fish's body with her fingers, she gently cut it into tiny pieces and then brought them into her mouth.
The fish's taste was strange, with a mix of sweetness and saltiness, making Chu Wuyao savor its taste.
Usually, in such an occasion, she should have commented about how delicious the fish of another world were, but in fact, they were just ordinary fish.
How tasty could they be?
Slightly disappointed to have wasted her time, Chu Wuyao was ready to get up and leave this place, planning to start hunting some monsters in the forest.
It had already been quite some time and although she wasn't planning to take the competition seriously, she was still willing to take this opportunity and hunt down some monsters.
After all, even without counting the competition, killing monsters was quite beneficial to Chu Wuyao.
Not only could she get Sin Points, but she could also absorb the killing aura after a creature's death and enhance her body cultivation.
The moment Chu Wuyao got up, her eyes wandered and she noticed from the corner of an eye that the surface of the bloody river was faintly shaking.
Without any hesitation, she stepped on the ground and jumped back, opening a distance of more than 10 meters in the blink on an eye.
Only then did she raise her head and looked at the river, trying to find the source of this sudden change.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for the culprit to show itself, as a huge, black shadow appeared at the bottom of the river.
This black shadow was huge, more than 20 meters in length and it was constantly getting bigger and bigger, rising towards towards the top.
Despite its huge size, the shadow's speed was extremely fast and in less than a second, it had already reached the river's surface.
Part of its body poked out of the water, allowing Chu Wuyao to see the appearance of this huge creature.
It was a massive shark, with a broad head and a pointy snout, with its whole body covered in shiny, tiny scales that had obviously suffered heavy damage in the past.
The shark's mouth was wide open, with countless rows of sharp, triangular teeth that were way more sharp than any weapon Chu Wuyao had ever seen.
Its black, murderous eyes were staring at Chu Wuyao and judging from its posture, it was about to launch itself at her.
In response to this, Chu Wuyao didn't panic at all but remained calm.
Her fists clenched and her eyes shone with a brilliant light, and she was getting ready for the fight that was about to take place.
Even though the shark in front of her was strong, exuding an aura that was even stronger than that of Li Zhengyu, Chu Wuyao wasn't afraid at all.
If anything, she was strangely excited, realizing that she could finally fight against an evenly matched opponent and have some fun!
Just as Chu Wuyao was getting ready to fight and the shark was staring at its prey, a chill suddenly ran down Chu Wuyao's spine and her intuition frantically warned her of danger.
The movements of a human and a monster immediately stopped, as if a higher-level being had pressed the "Stop" button.
Chu Wuyao felt her whole body shaking instinctively, and her hair stood up, as if she was facing an apex predator.
With some difficulty, she raised her eyes and looked at her opponent, the massive shark, only to find that it was also trembling in fear.
Moreover, its eyes were filled with an undisguised anthropomorphic sense of terror, as if it was extremely terrified.
Sensing this, Chu Wuyao's first reaction was to escape, but no matter how hard she tried, she found that she was unable to move.
Suddenly, the surface of the river rippled and a thin line poked out, flying towards the massive shark that still remained with its mouth open.
When Chu Wuyao's eyes focused on this thin line, she found that it was not a line at all, but a shiny, translucent tentacle.
This tentacle was extremely thin, similar to the thread of the fishing rod that she had been previously using, but the moment it landed on the shark, it locked on it firmly, like a fish that had taken the bait.
Under her terrified eyes, this thin, frail tentacle moved slowly back towards the bottom of the river, but this time, it was not alone, but was pulling the massive shark with it.
Soon, both the tentacle and the shark completely disappeared.
Throughout the whole process, the shark didn't show any struggle at all, as if it had completely accepted its fate, the fate of death.
If anyone were to witness this strange scene, they would have to wonder if they were hallucinating or if somebody was playing a prank on them.
But the blood that floated to the surface of the river, dying it red, and the sound of loud munching that came from the bottom of the river would soon remind them that everything they saw was actually true.
What do you think?
