Chapter 67 A Test of Strength
Feeling that her time to shine had finally come, Chu Wuyao clutched the yellow parchment in her hands and after she was done cleaning up all the evidence that remained on the scene, she picked up her pet and put it on shoulder.
"Master, you finally remembered me.", the little black cat excitedly said and its golden eyes became a little blurry, looking like it was ready to cry.
"Shh, Cthulhu, we have more important things to do...", Chu Wuyao said while brushing the black cat's soft fur.
"Master, my name is not Cthulhu. According to my inheritance, my name is...", the cat tried to argue, but its words were clearly ignored.
Not caring about the black cat's, Cthulhu's pleas, Chu Wuyao turned her attention to the treasure map.
After she made sure that she had chosen the correct route, she jumped to the back of the white tiger and controlled it with her mind, leading it towards the location marked on the map.
The journey was uneventful and perhaps because she were getting was closer to the center of the Warring Beasts Forest, Chu Wuyao didn't meet any monster nor any person on the way.
The place marked on the map wasn't too far away and soon, the strange trio, consisting of one human, one cat and one puppet, arrived at their destination.
The three stood in front of a small hill, made out of stone and with a few sparse plants around it, which were mostly withered, as if their life had been sucked out.
This place looked ordinary and if Chu Wuyao didn't have the map on her, she wouldn't have found anything strange about it.
"Huh?", suddenly, a surprised exclamation came out of her mouth, as she saw that a person was currently standing alone at the top of the hill.
Instinctively, she extended her senses and tried to sense the other person's strength.
Instantly, a picture appeared in her mind, of a young man with an ordinary appearance, black hair and a pair of black eyes.
The man was looking around nervously, obviously searching for something, while his strength was quite weak, only at the 2nd Level of Qi Accumulation.
Seeing this, Chu Wuyao relaxed, knowing full well that the man would never be able to pose a threat to her.
At the same time, she could already guess that just like her, this young man should have somehow obtained a clue for the treasure and came here to search for it.
Jumping off the white tiger, Chu Wuyao gracefully landed on the ground and stepped lightly on the ground.
Immediately, her figure disappeared, before suddenly appearing right next to the young man.
The young man had yet to notice her and when he saw her, she was already right next to him.
Chu Wuyao's hand stretched out and she was about to grab the man's shoulder, ready to interrogate them and ask him what was going on.
Just then, she felt her entire hair stand up.
While cursing inwardly about the fact that everyone enjoyed sneak attacking so much, she stepped on the ground and promptly dodged.
"Boom!"
The next second, a sword landed where she previously stood, cutting through the stone hill easily and leaving behind a large depression.
The hill shook violently, as if an earthquake was taking place and the young man, who was still shocked, lost his footing and fell to the ground, then down the small hill.
Chu Wuyao however ignored this and her attention was all on the new visitor, the person that had sneak attacked her.
It was a handsome young man, with short hair, sharp eyebrows and a polite smile on his face, whose right hand held a long sword.
Even though it was obvious that he had just attacked her out of nowhere, the young man looked casual, completely harmless.
"Yuan Zhuo...", Chu Wuyao whispered, instantly recognizing the young man, having seen him just a few days ago.
Feeling the aura he unintentionally exuded and recalling the previous attack, Chu Wuyao became even more sure that his strength was way higher than a normal cultivator at the 9th Level of Qi Accumulation.
She was certain that if the previous attack had landed on any person at the Qi Accumulation Realm, they would have ended up injured, if not even worse.
While Chu Wuyao was looking at him, Yuan Zhuo was also sizing her up, realizing that his previous feeling was correct.
This woman, who only seemed to be at the 3rd Level of Qi Accumulation, was actually hiding her strength and could very well pose a threat to him.
Secretly, he was a little emotional, but also curious.
He basically knew all the outer disciples with some strength and he was sure that this woman wasn't among them.
Below, the black-haired young man stared at the two people that were clearly ignoring him, who were sizing each other up.
The young man thought that they were about to talk to each other and boast about their identities, but the next second, he was shocked.
The figure of Chu Wuyao and Yuan Zhuo disappeared briefly, and the next moment, they appeared next to each other.
"Boom!"
A sword made out flames appeared in Chu Wuyao's hand, meeting the sword that Yuan Zhuo was holding and colliding fiercely in the air.
The wind around the two of them shook and the earth under their feet cracked, but the two of them ignored it.
"Bang!"
The next second, the two of them moved again and in the blink of an eye, they had clashed countless times with each other.
Witnessing their battle, the young man below was stunned.
Let alone fighting with these two people, he was certain that if he got just a bit closer, he would end up seriously injured.
Without thinking, he completely forgot about the treasure and was ready to flee, afraid that when the two people finally decided the winner, they would also deal with him.
"Meow."
Unfortunately, his luck seemed to have ran out, as he just now noticed that a furry creature had climbed on his head at an unknown time and its tail was wrapped around his neck, making it difficult for him to breath.
He tried to struggle, but no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to break free from this tail.
Cthulhu, who was sitting on top of the young man's head, ignored his meaningless struggle.
Instead, its eyes were glued to the figure of his master, who was looking quite majestic while fighting.
Her figure was powerful, yet elegant and her every move seemed to contain unparalleled grace.
Its golden eyes shone with little stars and if it were not for the occasion, it would have wanted to speak loudly and cheer for its own master.
"Boom!"
Chu Wuyao and Yuan Zhuo clashed again, but this time, after the two of them collided, they both stepped back and their movements stopped.
Despite the previous intense fight, the two of them looked spotless, with only a small wound which was healing rapidly on Chu Wuyao's hand, and a burned strand of hair on Yuan Zhuo's head.
"Yuan Zhuo."
"Chu Wuyao."
The two of them stared at each other and introduced themselves, as if the previous fight had never happened.
Only the broken land under their feet and the gravel that had flown everywhere remained as evidence of their fight.
What do you think?
