Chapter 72 The Circle of Life
Chu Wuyao continued climbing the staircase that seemingly led to the top of the world, going through the tests of combat power and soul defense continuously.
At the start, she was still a little excited because of the slaughter in the arena, but as time passed, she became more calm.
By the time she was close to the top, her emotions had completely cooled down and she had almost become numb.
Raising her feet, Chu Wuyao climbed another step, only to be transferred to the arena once again.
She was originally expecting a swarm of swordsmen to besiege her, but this time, there seemed to be a change.
Although there was still a the familiar male figure on the opposite time, this time, his aura was slightly different.
Chu Wuyao, who had killed this man countless times and had become extremely familiar with him, noticed this change immediately.
Extending her senses, she tried to judge his strength, only to find that the man was like a bottomless pit, sucking her thoughts in and rendering her unable to find his strength.
However, even though the man's strength had changed, his habits obviously remained the same.
He didn't say anything, and not giving Chu Wuyao any chance, he swung his sword forward, attacking her head-on.
This attack was quite familiar to Chu Wuyao, but when she faced this particular sword, her intuition surprisingly warned her of danger.
Instinctively, she waved her hand, creating a bunch of blazing, black flames in front of her that gathered into a circular shield.
"Boom!"
The sword struck the shield made out of flames, but seemed to have hit a wall made out of cotton.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Chu Wuyao stepped on the ground and her figure flew back, opening up some distance.
From his speed and his attack, she instantly realized that the man's strength had increased dramatically from before.
In fact, he faintly stronger than Li Zhengyu and the white-haired young man.
"Has his strength actually reached the Shackles Realm, or is it just close to it?", she wondered secretly, but her movements never stopped.
If it was before, Chu Wuyao might have been worried, but now, she had some confidence to fight against the man opposite to her.
Feeling the massive strength that was hidden inside her body, caused through the slaughter of thousands of people, she was instantly filled with confidence.
Her figure suddenly disappeared and the next second, she flashed right next to the man, whose sword was still fighting against the flaming shield.
Her right hand turned into a claw and twisted in a strange way, stretching towards the man's abdomen.
As her arm moved, her nails shone with a white glow, as if they were sharp weapons that were reflecting the surrounding light.
Facing her attack, the man on the opposite side still remained indifferent.
With a move of his arm, he pulled the sword back and placed it in front of him, ready to meet Chu Wuyao's hand.
Just then, Chu Wuyao's eyes shone with a strange red light.
Instantly, the man's eyes behind the mist became slightly blurry and countless pictures seemed to form in his field of vision.
However, the next moment, his body shook and the illusory pictures shattered. Find exclusive stories on empire
Fortunately, his momentary stupor had bought enough time for Chu Wuyao.
Her right arm moved slightly to the side, going around the man's sword, then landed on his abdomen.
"Bang!"
A loud noise resounded throughout the arena and the man flew back as if he had been hit by a cannonball.
A large wound appeared on his abdomen and blood constantly flowed out, dripping down on the arena's floor.
Looking at the blood that remained on her nails, painting them red, Chu Wuyao's eyes flashed with a hint of crimson.
Raising her head and staring at the wound on the man's abdomen that was healing at a rapid speed, the corners of her mouth curved upwards, turning into a crazy smile.
"Good, good, good!"
"Come again!", she yelled and in the blink of an eye, she landed next to the man and attacked him yet again.
She didn't care about defending at all, fighting against the man desperately, as if she was ready to die together with him.
If the man had any consciousness, he would have complained that he had met an actual lunatic!
"Boom! Swoosh!"
The next second, the sound of flesh and metal colliding resounded throughout the arena while blood, flesh and gravel flew everywhere.

While the fight between Chu Wuyao and the swordsman was going on, in the Warring Beasts Forest, many outer disciples had gathered around a small hill.
These outer disciples weren't very friendly with each other, but at this time, they stood right next to each other, obviously more concerned about something else.
Their focus was on a white gate that was floating just above the small hill, with the door open, revealing the darkness behind it, as if it was inviting people in.
"Junior brother Lu, why don't you go in first?", a young man suddenly asked the person next to him.
"Hmph! Senior brother Peng, do you think that I'm stupid? If you want to go in, just do it.", junior brother Lu replied and his tone was filled with disdain.
"Trash! How dare you talk to your senior brother like this? It seems that I'll have to teach you a lesson.", the first disciple, senior brother Peng heard his words and became a little angry.
His hand moved, reaching to the right side of his waist and he was about to unsheathe his sword and fight.
The outer disciples around the two of them noticed their argument, but nobody stepped forward to stop them.
Instead, they all took a few steps back, looking ready to watch the fun.
Just as the fight was about to begin, a mellow, sweet, captivating smell assaulted everyone's noses.
"Hehe, junior brothers, there is no need to fight.", a seductive female voice suddenly came, pulling on their heartstrings.
This voice was soft and just by hearing it, the disciples could already picture an extremely beautiful woman.
Their guesses soon proved to be true, as a beautiful woman suddenly popped out of nearby and walked towards the white gate.
This woman had long blue hair and a pair of blue eyes, while she was scantily dressed, revealing most of her skin and her proud figure.
When she finally reached the white gate, she turned her head around and looked at the surrounding disciples and licked her lips seductively.
Her look pierced through everyone's defense, making them excited.
"Unfortunately, I have better things to do right now."
"Let's all meet at some other time.", the woman chuckled and after she blew a kiss towards them she stepped inside the white gate.
Even after she had disappeared, most of the disciples didn't recover.
Whether it was a man or a woman, their eyes had turned red and their legs were trembling, inexplicably aroused.
"Is that senior sister Yue?" a voice broke the silence.
"I didn't expect that senior sister Yue would also be attracted to this place."
"We're so lucky to have seen senior sister Yue!"
When the disciples recovered, they started chatting with each other excitedly, their topic being senior sister Yue.
What they didn't notice that at some unknown time, a black-haired woman had appeared right next to the white gate.
Her indifferent gaze passed through the disciples and then, she stepped into the gate.
Throughout this whole process, no person noticed her arrival, nor her disappearance.
"Cough, cough. How about we all go in together and watch senior sister Yue's magnificence?" senior brother Peng suddenly raised his voice and suggested.
His words immediately received the agreement of everyone.
If before, they cared about the so-called treasure, then now, they only wanted to admire their senior sister!
"Wait, what is that?", a young woman spoke out of nowhere and pointed at the ground next to her.
Her exclamation attracted the attention of the disciples next to her, who followed her finger, only to find a thin, transparent line that was moving.
"Is this some kind of new monster?", one of the disciples questioned and he revealed a look of curiosity.
However, the next moment, this look disappeared, replaced by a look of horror.
Under everyone's shocked eyes, the thin line multiplied, turning from one to two and from two to four.
When there were finally tens of these lines, they each moved, choosing one of the disciples and flying towards them.
Their speed was extremely fast and in the blink of an eye, the line landed on them.
Immediately, each of the disciples felt their skin being pierced through and their blood being sucked out.
"Wh-what? Help!"
"Monster!"
"My senior brother will avenge me!"
A few disciples cast various skills and tried to break free, but their struggle proved to be meaningless.
Soon, the curses and the sound of begging for mercy cooled down and the transparent lines, now slightly thicker, returned to the ground and disappeared.
Around the gate, there was no longer any evidence of anyone having been there, as if these disciples never existed.
Not long another, another team of outer disciples arrived in this place and looked at the white gate floating above the small hill.
"I didn't expect that one day I would be lucky enough to meet a treasure place.", one of the team's members spoke happily.
"Indeed, but I suggest we wait for more people to gather before going in. With more people, our safety will be guaranteed.", an other member said solemnly and his words instantly received the approval of everyone.
What do you think?
