Chapter 73 Reaching the Top
Chu Wuyao's gray eyes reflected the glow of the sword that was going straight towards her head, wanting to slice it in two.
Even then, the crazy smile still remained on her face, despite her situation looking grim.
With a thought of her mind, her body moved sideways in order to dodge the sword, while a blazing black spear appeared in her hand and she stabbed it forward.
"Bang! Boom!"
The sound of two collisions sounded at the exact same time.
Lowering her head, Chu Wuyao looked at the sword that had penetrated through her shoulder, leaving behind a large wound and even reaching her bones, causing cracks to appear on them.
Blood constantly gushed out of the wound and she felt that she was constantly weakening, having been fatally injured.
Despite this, Chu Wuyao wasn't panicked at all, but instead breathed a sigh of relief.
Raising her head and looking at the man opposite to her, she saw that the black spear in her hand had penetrated right through his forehead.
A large amount of black flames were burning around the stabbing spot and soon, they incinerate the man's body.
With a loud cracking sound reaching her ears, the scene around Chu Wuyao broke into pieces and she returned back to reality.
The moment she returned, she didn't have any time to relax and she felt as if a needle had pierced through her head.
A tingling sensation appeared in-between her eyebrows and unconsciously, her mouth opened.
"Blurgh..."
A mouthful of blood flew out of her mouth and fell on the ground, while her face turned completely pale.
The new injury and the injuries she had accumulated during the fight came together and Chu Wuyao had trouble to remain standing.
Her legs became weak and she fell to the ground, her pale face almost hitting the ground.
Chu Wuyao noticed that her body was currently extremely weak and her life was slowly but surely passing away.
If it was anyone else in such situation, they would have become extremely panicked and would have tried to search for any way in order to survive.
However, Chu Wuyao remained calm.
With a thought of her mind, she brought up the system panel and looked at a column that she had not seen in quite some time, the [Status] column.
[Status: Severely Injured(0/450)]
Seeing the number inside the brackets, she was a little heartbroken.
Since the sect competition started, she had killed many monsters and humans, and yet, she had only managed to get about 500 Sin Points.
She was originally planning to use these Sin Points in order to improve her cultivation, but now, her plans went to ruins.
Even though she was quite reluctant, Chu Wuyao didn't hesitate and immediately clicked on the (+) button behind the [Status] column.
Her balance of Sin Points at the bottom of the panel decreased rapidly, while a warm current passed through her body.
In an instant, this warm current flowed to her injuries, increasing her healing speed by an incredible amount.
In the blink of an eye, her wounds had completely disappeared, with new flesh sprouting at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Moreover, Chu Wuyao noticed that the warm current didn't stop there, but went deeper into her body, searching for something.
The next moment, Chu Wuyao felt her whole body relax, as if a layer of shackles that had been weighting on her had been taken off.
She knew that this was the result of the injuries on her soul being healed.
Compared to physical injuries, injuries on the soul were way more severe and difficult for cultivators to recover from.
Yet, the warm current was able to easily heal them.
"It deserves to be the system.", Chu Wuyao sighed and once again admired the system's power.
At the same time, she recalled the previous fight and felt that she had been a little impulsive.
She knew that if she had used the Blood Flag, the broken black sword, or used her Sin Points in order to improve her strength, she could have more easily killed the swordsman, possibly without suffering such injuries.
It's just that at that moment, she was very excited to have met an equal opponent and wanted to fight head-on.
Suppressing these thoughts, after Chu Wuyao made sure that her condition was fine, she jumped to her two feet.
Once she landed, she looked around.
It was only now that Chu Wuyao noticed that she had unknowingly climbed to the top of the massive staircase, reaching its top.
Turning her head back unconsciously, she wanted to try and look down, but her eyes were unable to penetrate through the boundless white mist.
Shaking her head, Chu Wuyao stopped her attempts and turned her attention to the area around her, observing this place.
It was a small stone square, about 30 meters or so in size and on its very center, there was a statue standing solemnly.
The statue was made out of the same material as the square and judging from how crude the statue was, its sculptor wasn't very talented.
Still, Chu Wuyao was able to recognize the creature that the statue depicted.
In fact, it was a creature that she was quite familiar with, a dragon.
The dragon was quite small, about one meter in size, white in color, with its body being covered in countless snake-like scales.
There was a small horn on top of its head, while its eyes showed a hint of intelligence and majesty.
There was a faint mist all around the dragon, as if it was accompanying it and following every one of its instructions.
Staring at the statue, Chu Wuyao subconsciously fell into a trance and a scene appeared in front of her eyes.
In the scene, there was a massive white dragon that was surrounded by boundless white mist, flying freely in the sky.
"Roaaaar!"
The dragon opened its mouth and let out a loud roar, causing space cracks to form around it.
When Chu Wuyao's eyes landed on the dragon, she couldn't help but feel her own insignificance.
She had felt this feeling before when she faced the elders of the Original Desire Sect, but now, this feeling was actually even more obvious.
Chu Wuyao watched blankly, as the dragon flew in the blue sky, traveling alone through the world.
There were space cracks remaining on the places it passed by, leaving behind evidence of its existence.
Just when Chu Wuyao thought that this would continue to go on, a change occured.
Out of nowhere, a slender, delicate hand poked out of the space cracks, reaching towards the white dragon.
The dragon seemed to be stunned and no matter how close the hand came, it never reacted.
Finally, the delicate palm landed on the dragon's scales.
Chu Wuyao had already imagined countless scenes such as the hand easily penetrating through the white scales, or the dragon waking up and killing the owner of the hand.
But in the end, none of these things happened.
Instead, the moment the palm landed on the dragon's scales, the dragon's entire body started disappearing, as if it was being wiped out by an eraser.
In a split second, the dragon had been erased completely, disappearing forever from this world.
While all of this was happening, the dragon never put up any resistance nor did it mutter a single word.
With the dragon's erasure, the scene in front of Chu Wuyao's eyes shattered and she found herself returning to reality.
She was still facing the stone statue, as if the previous scene had just been an illusion.
What do you think?
