Chapter 56: 56 s Maintenance
Chapter 56: 56 chapters Maintenance
“Does Mrs. Lin even match?”
Pei Yansi was utterly merciless, each sentence as cold as could be, “Or do you think, that Pei Family must rely on the cooperation with Lin Family to function properly, so you can just ride roughshod over me whenever you want?”
“Are my employees someone you can hit whenever you feel like it?”
“No matter who the person is today, as long as they are an employee of Pei Family, I will not allow anyone to just come up and hit them.”
Mrs. Lin was completely shocked and rendered speechless.
Although her family had cooperation with Pei Family, they were indeed not indispensable to Pei Family. If anything had to be said, it was the Lin Family that depended more on Pei Family.
In their collaboration, Pei Yansi probably had never truly considered them important from the beginning to the end, but he kept them for the purpose of broadening his business horizons.
Mrs. Lin finally stopped saying anything and just said to Lin Yiran, “Son, let’s resign and go home, stop this, go to your father’s company if you want to work.”
Lin Yiran refused, “No, Mom. Pei Family provides a better environment and is more helpful for my development. Besides, over there, everyone has to consider my status, which doesn’t really let me learn anything substantial.”
“What can you learn here? Learn this kind of petty-mindedness?” she said, glancing meaningfully at Bai Sheng’er.
Lin Yiran replied, “I have indeed learned something.”
Seeing this, Shen Heyu took the initiative to stand up and speak for him, listing his recent work.
Mrs. Lin finally stopped persuading, yet turned her head to Pei Yansi again, “I can let the earlier incident slide. But my son’s injury demands an explanation from President Pei; that steel bar didn’t just fall by accident.”
Pei Yansi frowned. It was of utmost importance to stay vigilant about his own construction sites, as it was a matter of life and death.
He said, “Rest assured, I will never allow such potential murderers among my employees.”
Mrs. Lin huffed, turned, and walked away.
Pei Yansi glanced at Shen Heyu and said, “Come with me.”
Shen Heyu quickly followed him to his office.
The spectators outside dispersed.
In the office, Pei Yansi sat on a swivel chair, looked up at Shen Heyu, and said, “Tell me about the situation on the construction site that day.”
Was it someone’s intentional doing? Why didn’t you tell me?
Shen Heyu pursed her lips, all businesslike, “That steel bar wasn’t heading for Lin Yiran, it was aimed at me. He helped me, which is why he got injured.”
“Aimed at you?” Pei Yansi frowned. So, if it hadn’t been for Lin Yiran, would she have been in trouble now?
Shen Heyu nodded and said no more.
Seeing her silent like this, Pei Yansi lost any further interest in talking, waved his hand at her, signaling her to leave.
After she had left, he couldn’t help but think who would want her dead?
And to use such a sinister method.
He dialed Zhao Jin’s extension, asking him to investigate the matter as soon as possible.
Shen Heyu left his office and returned to her desk just in time to see Lin Yiran waiting for her there.
She approached and asked, “Is there something else?”
Lin Yiran, a bit embarrassed, scratched his head and said, “It’s nothing much, I just want to invite you to dinner. It’s a way of thanking you for helping me out today.”
Shen Heyu thought about the last time, how a meal with Shen Jiangli had been misunderstood by others, she shook her head and said, “No need, that wasn’t much of a help, what you did for me, that was the real help.”
“Just work diligently and you’ll be fine. You can go back now.”
Lin Yiran, being quite young, wasn’t the type to butter people up; hearing this, he didn’t think much of it and turned around to leave.
The next day at noon, Bai Sheng’er, wanting to please, personally made a heart-shaped lunch box at home.
At lunchtime, she carried her homemade lunch box and knocked on Pei Yansi’s office door.
Pei Yansi’s voice quickly came from inside: “Come in.”
Bai Sheng’er carefully pushed the door open, walked in, and then closed the door behind her.
Seeing the visitor was her as he was busy, Pei Yansi instinctively stopped his work and said, “Why are you here?”
It was mealtime indeed.
Bai Sheng’er said, “I was thinking that President Pei might not have eaten yet. I made this myself and brought it specially for you.”
Saying so, she carefully handed over the box of heart-shaped lunch.
Pei Yansi glanced at it, and it was evident that it had been made with care.
Even the fried egg was shaped like a heart.
But for some reason, he felt no appetite as he looked at it; however, he didn’t refuse it. He simply took it and placed it aside, not eating, and looked at her, asking, “Is there something you need?”
He could tell from her twisty manner of wanting to speak, exactly resembling Shen Fanshuang’s from before; every time she needed something from him, she adopted this bashful demeanor.
Bai Sheng’er nodded and said, “I want to apologize for yesterday, I caused you trouble.”
“It’s not a trouble,” Pei Yansi said indifferently, not bringing up the matter of her asking for help with her work.
Seeing this, Bai Sheng’er felt somewhat relieved and quickly followed, “Yansi, I’d like to work closer to you, being a secretary, would that be alright?”
“I feel that, in my current position, maybe… it’s not very ideal; conflicts with other colleagues have arisen, and I thought of working by your side to assist you.”
Pei Yansi looked at her, pondered for a moment, as if considering the feasibility of this.
Finally, he said, “Wait for this matter to blow over, then I’ll transfer you.”
Bai Sheng’er hadn’t expected him to agree, and was overjoyed. Joy was apparent in the corners of her eyes and the arch of her brows as she smiled, “Thank you, Brother Yansi!”
Pei Yansi stared at the joy in the corner of her eyes, as if seeing Shen Fanshuang again; their happiness, even the angle of their eyelid curls, was nearly identical.
He couldn’t help but smile a little.
When he smiled, the usual cold sharpness around him dissipated quite a bit, appearing gentler and more approachable. His handsome features were even more captivating, and Bai Sheng’er was slightly dazzled by it.
However, Pei Yansi’s smile quickly faded. Seeing her staring at him, he said, “You can go out first.”
Bai Sheng’er came to her senses, feigning the bashfulness of being caught peeking, blushed, nodded, and turned to leave first.
After she had left, Pei Yansi checked the time; it was indeed the lunch hour, and he was starting to feel a bit hungry. Yet when his gaze shifted to the heart-shaped lunch box beside him, he still didn’t feel much appetite.
He pushed the lunch box a bit further away, letting Zhao Jin deliver his meal as usual.
Meanwhile, Shen Heyu was also busy in her office. She was trying to find out who had staged that incident at the construction site.
She was so busy she forgot to eat.
But since the construction site was not covered by surveillance, she couldn’t see anything and found no useful clues.
Although she didn’t know who was trying to put her in this deadly situation, she had a vague suspicion.
What do you think?
