Chapter 55: 55 Apology
Chapter 55: Chapter 55 Apology
Shen Heyu was taken aback by the noise.
Mrs. Lin did not notice her reaction and continued, “Someone on the construction site wants to kill my son!”
“It happened exactly when he was out with you, shouldn’t Director Shen explain? You’ve been in charge of that project from the start, don’t tell me you know nothing about it!”
“What grudge does my son have against you that you would use such malicious means against him?”
Mrs. Lin spoke at length, but Shen Heyu frowned deeply, not absorbing a word she said afterward.
She couldn’t forget that the steel bar had actually been aimed at her, and Lin Yiran had been hurt because he was protecting her.
That is to say, the initial target was herself, not Mrs. Lin.
Shen Heyu did not hide this, and took the initiative to tell Mrs. Lin everything. Fearing she wouldn’t believe it, she added, “I didn’t know Lin Yiran before, and we had no grudges; I have no motive. If I really were behind it, I wouldn’t have personally taken him there; I would have stayed away to avoid suspicion.”
“The steel bar was originally meant to hit me.”
Mrs. Lin looked suspiciously at her and said, “It seems that Director Shen isn’t very popular at the company, is she?”
Shen Heyu did not respond.
That was already a fact, and there was nothing she could argue.
In the silence that followed, Bai Sheng’er’s voice could be heard outside the office saying, “Lin Yiran, right? I have a meeting summary here, I can’t write it in time, you do it for me. I need it before I leave work.”
Lin Yiran said, “But this isn’t my job.”
“So what if it isn’t your job? You’re an intern, doing everything helps you improve.”
“Aren’t you also an intern?”
Stumped by his retort, Bai Sheng’er replied indignantly, “Everyone in the company knows about my relationship with President Pei. Aren’t you aware of that? Is writing a meeting summary for me really that difficult?”
“…”
The dialogue between the two, every word of it, reached the office. Mrs. Lin, hearing it, her face turned green. Without paying attention to Shen Heyu, she rose from the sofa, looked around outside, found her son’s position, marched up to Bai Sheng’er, and slapped her.
“Who do you think you are, daring to order him around?”
Bai Sheng’er was dazed by the slap, losing her sense of direction for a moment.
Shen Heyu rushed out but before she could intervene, saw Bai Sheng’er holding her face, glaring at Mrs. Lin, “Who are you, and what grudge do you have against me that you hit me the moment you see me?”
“I am Lin Yiran’s mother!”
Bai Sheng’er was taken aback.
She hadn’t expected the person before her to be Mrs. Lin.
She had asked Lin Yiran to do her work earlier, seeing his diligent, uncomplaining nature, but now with his mother here, she dared not ask him to write the meeting summary.
Yet, on second thought, she felt surprised he turned out to be such a “mommy’s boy,” calling for his parents at the smallest issue.
Seeing that Bai Sheng’er said nothing more, Mrs. Lin spoke harshly, “You asked him to write a meeting summary for you; can’t you even handle this bit of work yourself? Go home and die rather than show your face here!”
“Look at yourself; are you even worthy of having my son do your work?”
“…”
Mrs. Lin’s words became increasingly offensive. She was uneducated and had married Lin Yiran’s father through a shotgun marriage arranged by the family, which was considered marrying up to an intellectual.
But the stubborn intellectual liked her fiery personality, and over the years, her character not only didn’t mellow, but also became more pampered and fiery.
Her insults were pretty harsh.
Lin Yiran found it unbearable, reached out to hold her, and helplessly said, “Mom, what are you doing! I’m not a child anymore, who acts like this!”
Mrs. Lin looked at him, snorted coldly, and said, “Look at you, just like your father. When faced with issues, you only know how to cower, and I always have to step in!”
“Do you just let others bully you?” After saying that, she turned to Bai Sheng’er and ordered, “I command you to apologize to my son right now!”
Lin Yiran sighed, feeling speechless, “How am I supposed to interact with my colleagues in the future with you acting like this?”
“Interact? You still want to associate with such scum? I’m telling you, resign today and come home with me!”
Lin Yiran frowned, clearly unwilling.
Just as he was about to say something, he saw Shen Heyu approaching and ended up keeping quiet.
Shen Heyu looked at Bai Sheng’er and said, “Apologize.”
Even though Bai Sheng’er really wanted to say she had been hit already and didn’t need to apologize, she didn’t dare to provoke the Lin Family. With a wronged expression, she covered her face, nearly in tears, and choked, “I’m sorry… It wasn’t intentional…”
Just as she finished speaking, they heard the sound of the elevator doors opening, and she glanced over to see Pei Yansi and Zhao Jin stepping out.
The tears she had been holding back now fell freely.
There was a hint of seeking his sympathy.
Pei Yansi saw this, frowned slightly, and walked over, asking Shen Heyu, “What’s going on?”
Before Shen Heyu could speak, the fiery Mrs. Lin explained the whole situation and then indignantly said, “President Pei, are you going to do something about what happened in your company?”
“Your employee pushed her unwanted work onto my son and then refused to apologize. Are you just going to let it go?”
Pei Yansi’s cold gaze swept over everyone, finally resting on Bai Sheng’er’s flushed face.
Her cheeks were swollen.
Shen Heyu noticed his focus and knew that he would keep Bai Sheng’er after all—her face was the most important thing about her.
It was the face that saw her as Shen Fanshuang.
Nothing was more important than her face.
Sure enough, the next second, he heard him say coldly, “It was wrong of her to dump her unwanted tasks on a colleague, and her professional conduct needs improvement. But it seems your son also didn’t agree. It’s merely a minor friction among employees.”
“Mrs. Lin, however, starts by slapping my employee. I really want to ask, what’s the logic here? What if one day my wife goes to the Lin Corporation and slaps a key subordinate of President Lin? What would President Lin think?”
Mrs. Lin hadn’t expected him to protect a mere employee.
Their families even had a business partnership!
In disbelief, she said, “Are you saying that you’re not going to handle this?”
“Of course not,” Pei Yansi scoffed, “My decision is that this matter ends here. If you expect her to apologize, that’s even less likely. To be frank, I think it should be Mrs. Lin who apologizes to her, since you were the first to get physical.”
Mrs. Lin’s eyes widened in shock, “Are you out of your mind! Apologize to her? Why should I! Does she even deserve it?!”
What do you think?
