Chapter 74: Chapter 74 He Loses Face
Pei Yansi coldly looked at Yun Duo, who was startled by his gaze and felt uneasy, “President Pei?”
“Who signed her resignation letter?”
“…It was you, sir.” Yun Duo explained, “The HR department saw it clearly, the handwriting on it was indeed yours, President Pei. Then they let her go, but she didn’t even ask for her salary, she left in a hurry.”
“Do you know where she went?” Pei Yansi asked sternly, without needing to think, he knew that the handwriting on the resignation letter must have been forged by her.
After all, they had been husband and wife for so many years, he knew this much about her.
Did she not know the consequences of forging a resignation letter’s signature?
Yun Duo was unaware of the relationship between the two, thinking it was just a supervisor’s concern for a subordinate, and said, “Director Shen is going abroad, she must be at the airport by now.”
Over the past several days, the anger that Pei Yansi had been holding back in his heart suddenly dissipated in that instant.
It was like a string stretched to its limit, suddenly snapping. At this moment, whatever anger there was, it didn’t matter anymore, he only knew that once she left, it was highly likely they wouldn’t see each other again.
He suddenly felt a bit panicked in his heart.
He put this panic into action, hastily leaving the company and driving to the airport.
He drove the car very fast, and being a skilled driver, it took him only half an hour to arrive at the airport. Fortunately, people generally arrived at the airport early, and he managed to catch up with Shen Heyu just in time.
However, there was another man following close by her side.
When Pei Yansi saw Shen Jiangli next to her, his head buzzed.
He walked up behind her and called her name.
She and Shen Jiangli had been about to head to the VIP lounge, where there weren’t many people, and Shen Heyu easily heard this call.
She frowned, initially thinking it was her imagination, but when she turned around, she saw that Pei Yansi was truly standing two steps behind her.
His clothes and hair were a bit disheveled, and he was slightly out of breath, as if he had just run over in a hurry.
Shen Heyu asked with polite surprise, “President Pei?”
Shen Jiangli looked at him with an unfriendly gaze and said, “President Pei is now divorced and has no right to take anyone away from me.”
At his words, Pei Yansi’s eyes turned cold, a scornful look flickered across Shen Jiang’s face a few times before finally settling on Shen Heyu, and he said in a deep voice, “Come with me.”
Shen Heyu refused, “President Pei, whatever you have to say, you can say it here.”
She refused to go, even less willing to be alone with him.
Seeing this, Pei Yansi just scoffed and then, disregarding everything else, strode forward, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her toward the neighboring VIP room.
Shen Heyu: “You’re hurting me!”
He subconsciously lightened his grip, but his steps did not slow down.
Shen Heyu was dragged along by him with her feet barely touching the ground, Shen Jiangli followed behind, trying to catch up, but he was blocked by Pei Yansi’s men.
Shen Heyu knew Pei Yansi’s temper; resistance at such a time was utterly pointless, and she also knew that there were some things that needed to be clarified, so she stopped struggling and said to Shen Jiangli, “I’ll be right back.”
Hearing her words, Shen Jiangli respected her decision and did not continue to follow, especially since the airport was so crowded, and he didn’t believe Pei Yansi would do anything bad to her.
Shen Heyu was dragged by Pei Yansi into the VIP room next door.
The room was spacious with no one else, soft sofas, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a beverage and snack area.
Pei Yansi sat on the sofa, lifting his eyes to look at her coolly and said, “Planning to leave with Shen Jiangli? Thinking of marrying him?”
“It’s none of your business.”
“Maybe it isn’t, but we just got divorced. Isn’t it a bit too soon for you to move on?”
“When you and I were still married, you were ambiguous with other women, and I never said a word, nor did I have the right to. But now,” Shen Heyu’s voice was icy, not even glancing at him as she firmly said, “you have no right to either. After the divorce, both of us are single. I’m free to do as I please.”
Pei Yansi chuckled at her words.
Quite the single lady and gentleman.
His stare fixed on her eyes as his face darkened inch by inch, “So, you really plan on leaving? Not coming back?”
“Seems so.”
“Why?” Pei Yansi asked. “It’s just a divorce, there’s no need to quit your job. You could continue working at the Pei Family company.”
“No need. President Pei, if that’s all you wanted to discuss, I’ll be leaving.” Shen Heyu didn’t want to waste any more time with him and turned to go.
The moment she turned around, her wrist was forcefully grabbed, and she was yanked backward, stumbling several steps towards him, unprepared.
Pei Yansi, as if he had already decided what to do, reached out and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace.
Without giving her a chance to react, he lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers.
Shen Heyu’s eyes widened in disbelief. They were no longer married; his actions were overstepping the boundaries!
She struggled furiously, but such resistance didn’t make the man let go; it seemed instead to fuel his innate desire to conquer.
He flipped over, pinning her onto the sofa, his hands firmly grasping her wrists above her, his lips deeply sealing hers, his tongue probing into her mouth.
She clenched her teeth shut, refusing to let him in.
But as a couple for so many years, he knew every inch of her body. His warm palm slid down and gently pinched her waist.
Instinctively, she let out a soft cry, and her lips parted, giving him the chance to storm the gate and capture the territory.
Shen Heyu was nearly kissed breathless before she was finally released.
After letting her go, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her on his legs as he said, “After all these years, you’re still so naïve. With Shen Jiangli, could he really lay his hand on you?”
His words were truly distasteful, and Shen Heyu, without thinking, lifted her hand and slapped him directly across the face.
Both were stunned by the slap.
Shen Heyu, coming to her senses and staring at her hand, met his increasingly icy gaze, feeling somewhat at a loss, and then she managed to say after a long while, “You forced me!”
“You deserved that slap!”
Pei Yansi, watching her anger mixed with a bit of worry, felt as if a flower was blooming inside his heart, the feeling intriguing.
It was much more satisfying than the way she always faced him with a deadpan expression.
He didn’t dwell on the slap; it was nothing to him. He simply held her and asked, “Is the child really mine?”
He still wondered—even if the child was gone, he couldn’t tolerate the idea of her making him a cuckold.
Shen Heyu emphatically said, “If you think it’s not yours, then it’s not yours.”
“If it’s not mine, then why did you get so angry when it was gone? I already agreed to the divorce. Why follow another man so soon?”
Was it a matter of pride for him?
What do you think?
