Chapter 1288: Unexpected trade deal (1)

I didn't need to look at what they were looking at to tell what he was talking about.

After all, there was only a single tweak that had been made to the design of the magic rifle.

This single tweak was a small improvement on the magic array that was placed inside of the bullet compartment of the magic rifle. This magic array was the magic array that shot the bullet out of the magic rifle.

As for what this small tweak did...

Seeing that I didn't say anything, First Lieutenant Jostin raised the magic rifle in his hand and said, "This small change to the firing magic array increases the speed of the bullet by 10%. How is it possible that you were able to do something like this?

That's right.

It was a small tweak, but it was an improvement that increased the speed of the bullet shot.

Even if 10% didn't seem like a lot, with the speed of the magic rifle bullets, it was actually quite a lot.

A normal rifle bullet from my previous world would travel at between 300 to 1000 m/s.

A magic rifle doubled that speed if all the other specs were the same.

It would increase even more depending on the specs of the magic rifle. So even if 10% itself seemed small, it was a large increase when it came to the speed of the bullet.

Even for the lowest speed bullet of around 300 m/s, that would be an increase of 30 m/s. This was a number that was more than twice the fastest recorded speed of a human.

So it could be seen just how significant of an increase this was.

But instead of answering his question, I just calmly looked at First Lieutenant Justin and said, "I'm sure that you would like to know, but this is a protected secret of our Kite Kingdom. It isn't something that can be revealed that easily."

As soon as they heard this, the two envoys from the Democratic Union immediately knitted their brows again.

It was clear by the look on their face that they weren't happy with this response from me.

But before First Lieutenant Jostin could say anything, I said, "Technology is always improving, that is how we advance as a race. At the same time, even in your Democratic Union, I think there would be laws protecting me. Something known as a patent, right? I've also filed this patent with the newly established patent office in our Kite Kingdom, so it is now a registered patent."

There was a wide smile that appeared on my face as I said this.

In response to this, there was an ugly look that appeared on the faces of the two from the Democratic Union.

One might think that they wouldn't care about the patent office that was created by a different kingdom, but in truth they had no choice but to care about it.

After all, the Democratic Union was a militaristic state, but it was also a democratic one as the name suggested.

It was based on the foundation that every man had freedoms that couldn't be violated and one of those freedoms was the right to one's property.

All citizens of the Democratic Union were encouraged to do what they could to aid the development of the human race, but they knew that it was impossible to expect everyone to be selfless and not care about their own needs.

That was why everyone was free to do what they wanted with their inventions, their discoveries, and anything else that they had.

If they were to violate this freedom that was the basis of the Democratic Union, it would be a mockery of their foundation as the Democratic Union.

The two from the Democratic Union might not hesitate as much if they were dealing with a country that wasn't as powerful, but it was different with the Kite Kingdom.

There was a reason they were known as the fifth empire.

At the same time, if the Democratic Union were to do anything to the Kite Kingdom, there was no doubt that the three other empires wouldn't remain idle. Even the Sorcery Empire seemed to have changed sides at a certain point.

So it wasn't as if they could force the Kite Kingdom to hand over this design.

But it wasn't as if the Democratic Union could just leave these magic rifles in the hands of the Kite Kingdom.

Putting aside how powerful the magic rifles that they developed were, the important thing was the magic rifle technology. If they were to let that go, then it would be the same as admitting that they wouldn't be the only ones with this technology.

Though in reality, this couldn't be considered the case since I was in this world.

The fact that I was in this world with knowledge from my past life meant that it was impossible for the Democratic Union to be the only ones that possessed this knowledge. After all, I was someone who had done everything that could be done in the game and that naturally included getting that knowledge from the Democratic Union.

Though in the game, it was much less detailed.

It was a game after all, so it wasn't as if they would be able to describe everything about a magic rifle.

The recipe that was found in the game was just a list of materials that needed to be used to make the magic rifle, as well as some vague instructions on how to make the magic rifle.

Just that alone wasn't enough for me to figure out how to make the magic rifles on my own. Luckily I had the help of some of the best craftsmen out there.

The dwarves were able to take this knowledge that I gave them and even help me work out this small tweak that made the magic rifle even better.@@novelbin@@

After a long silence, First Lieutenant Jostin suddenly said, "Then how about we make a deal?"
