Chapter 1289: Unexpected trade deal (2)
It wasn’t just me who was surprised by what he said.
I could see the way that Second Lieutenant Riza looked at him that she also didn’t seem to approve of this idea.
In fact, it even seemed like she had never heard him mention this idea before which was why there was that surprised look on her face.
But First Lieutenant Jostin didn’t seem to care about the way that Second Lieutenant Riza was looking at him.
He was just looking at me as if he was waiting for a response from me.
However, it wasn’t as if I could agree to something that easily.
"What kind of deal are you offering?" I said in a cautious tone of voice.
It wasn’t that I was moved by his words, it was just that I was curious what he was going to offer.
After all, by all rights, he didn’t have any cards to play here.
So the only thing that he could do was find a way to compromise and it seemed that the method that he chose was to make a deal. Only I couldn’t see a deal where both sides would be satisfied with what they were getting.
No matter how I looked at it, it seemed like one side would be getting the short end of the stick with any kind of deal that was made.
"It’s very simple. We want to hire you as the official supplier of magic rifles for our Democratic Union."
As soon as he said this, Second Lieutenant Riza couldn’t take it anymore and said, "Sir, I don’t think that this is appropriate. I think that this is something that we should bring to the higher ups to discuss first before we come to any decisions."
Based on this, it really seemed like the two of them weren’t as united as I previous thought they were.
But that didn’t last long as First Lieutenant Jostin suddenly turned to look at her to say, "I’m the one that was appointed to be in charge of this mission. All decisions that I make are already backed by the higher ups."
Second Lieutenant Riza revealed a deep frown and looked like she wanted to say something else. In the end, she didn’t get to say anything as First Lieutenant Jostin suddenly pulled out something.
When she saw this, her expression changed several times before a calm and defeated look appeared on her face. It seemed that whatever this thing was, it had convinced her to accept that First Lieutenant Jostin was in charge.
It seemed that whatever this thing was, it was more than enough to prove that he indeed had the backing of the higher ups of the Democratic Union.
But that still raised the question of how much attention he received from the higher ups of the Democratic Union.
How far would they let him go?
"It seems like you’re not just a normal military officer. I wonder how far you can go in representing the Democratic Union." I said in a teasing tone, as if I was testing him.
First Lieutenant Jostin just looked at me with a faint smile on his face before saying, "Let’s get down to business. I’m sure that we both want to end this as soon as possible."
I gave a shrug before saying, "That was before and this is now. Since you clearly have a high status, wouldn’t it make sense that I would want to build a good relationship with you?"
He had the same smile as he looked at me for a bit before saying, "So the deal that I’m proposing, we’ll buy the magic rifles at a higher price compared to the price that we would normally spend on magic rifles. The one question that I do have for you is if you also manufacture bullets as well. Since you have these magic rifles, I’m sure that you also manufacture the bullets since they would be useless without them. That’s why I’m curious if there’s anything special about your bullets as well."
The way that he talked was completely different from before. @@novelbin@@
The way that he acted before was as if he was too lazy to say anything to me. It was as if he disdained talking to me, so he wanted to avoid conversation with me as much as possible.
But that changed after he saw the magic rifle.
It seemed that he finally saw some kind of value in me, which was why he changed his attitude towards me.
Still, that was only when it was related to the matter of the magic rifles.
It seemed that beyond that, he didn’t really seem that interested in talking to me.
So the only thing that he would talk about with me was about the deal with the magic rifles.
However, it wasn’t as if I knew anything about the price of magic rifles or how the Democratic Union sold them other than what I knew from the game. And those were prices for outsiders, so I had no idea what their internal prices were.
So it wasn’t as if there was anything that I could discuss with him.
In the first place, there was a part of me that was still considering whether to accept this deal or not.
But after thinking about it, I decided that it was better to accept it to buy some time.
Right now, the Democratic Union wasn’t something that I could provoke. Stay tuned with NovelBin.Côm
After all, we all faced a much bigger threat that we needed to deal with together. Fighting the Democratic Union would just weaken the human race as a whole, which would be bad for us.
So it was better to accept this deal and keep the fragile peace until it was time.
It was better to keep them as a human shield just in case.
"Let’s discuss this with our kingdom’s finance minister. I’m sure that she’ll be able to give you all the information that you need."
Since I didn’t know anything, I would just toss it to Haley.
She would take care of everything for me like usual.
What do you think?
