Chapter 1291: Hidden in the trees

It didn't take long for the mayor to come back with the information that I was looking for.

He didn't come back alone, he came back with a group of hunters that were the ones that really had the information that I was looking for.

"There's been a strange migration of animals to the west. We don't know exactly where they're going since we haven't been able to track them." The lead hunter honestly said to me when they heard what I was asking for.

With one brow raised, I asked, "You haven't been able to track them?"

There was an embarrassed and awkward look that appeared on the face of the hunter as he slowly shook his head to say, "We haven't been able to track them. We've tried many times, but each time...it's as if there was this strange thing that made us lose track of the trail."

After a pause, he added, "It's almost as if there was something that was erasing the tracks that these animals leave behind. Or it's as if there's something that's making us lose track of where we are. It's almost as if there's something that's muddling our senses when we try to follow them."

The other hunters nodded in agreement to support their leader.

They all started giving stories of how it was like they were trying to find a ghost whenever they tried to track down these animals.

There were even some of them that were wondering if there were ghosts in the forest with the way that they've been losing track of these animals.

While they were telling these stories, they made sure to stress that this was what they saw. They wanted to make sure that I didn't think that they were crazy for thinking these things.

After all, a normal person would think that they were crazy for even mentioning these things. It was just that I wasn't a normal person.

The answers that they gave me was actually what I had been expecting to hear from them, so it actually was good to have confirmation from them.

That's why I didn't think that they were crazy even if their stories did make them seem crazy to a certain extent.

After assuring them that they weren't crazy, I said to my guards, "We're heading to the forest in the west. We'll need..."

Once I finished giving them instructions, I didn't wait as I headed out of the town.

During the time that it took to travel here, I had been thinking about what the reports had said. I had been able to slowly think through the things that the report said and had come to a conclusion.

I was able to match the information on the report to the knowledge that I brought from the game.

That gave me a general idea of what it was that was causing these things.

And after hearing the stories from the hunters, I was even more certain of my guesses.

Now it was time to meet the ones that were responsible for these strange happenings. When I arrived at the forest that the hunters mentioned, there was a certain someone who was there waiting for me. When that certain someone saw me, he was naturally surprised to see me.

After all, he didn't think that I would call him or want to meet with him again.

There was a part of me that didn't want to meet with him after what happened last time, but I had to admit that he was very useful to what we were about to do. If he was someone useful, then there was no reason not to make use of him.

Only a fool wouldn't use all the things that were available to him and I was no fool.

"Father, it's been a long time." I said to the priest from my town.

The last time we met was when he had come to the capital to speak for the Holy Empire.

"Your majesty, it has indeed been a long time." The priest said with a bow of his head. After exchanging pleasantries, I told him what I wanted him to do.

"Your majesty, are you sure about this?" The priest asked in an uncertain voice.

I just gave a simple nod in response.

Seeing this, the priest gave a nod before heading forward towards the trees in front of us. When he was standing there, he suddenly raised his hand and started gathering his mana.

What the priest was doing was casting a spell.

The spell that he was casting in particular was the Dispel Spell.

As a priest, this was one of his specialties.

After he finished gathering his mana in his hand, the priest released this spell in front of him. There was a cracking sound that rang out before the flow of mana seemed to change. The priest had a surprised look on his face when he saw this, but I wasn't surprised at all. Since I had become much more sensitive to mana, I had been able to sense the traces of mana that were in the air. I knew that there was an illusion magic array that had been set up in this place that was hiding the truth.

So that was what the Dispel Spell had broken just now.

The priest looked at me with a strange look, but I didn't bother explaining to him how I knew that there was this illusion magic array here.

Instead, I looked carefully at the trees around us to see if there was anything else that needed to be taken care of. However, it seemed that whoever had put up the illusion magic array had put all of their eggs in one basket.

It seemed like they didn't think that anyone would break through this illusion magic array, so they didn't put up anything else.

I turned to the mayor and asked, "Have you prepared the other thing?" With a nod, he pointed at the covered items and said, "They're all here." I just gave a simple nod in response before saying, "Alright, let's go."@@novelbin@@
