Chapter 1292: Fairies (1)
Chapter 1292: Fairies (1)
Though they followed me, it didn't seem like they were that willing.
The looks on the faces of the people following me almost seemed like they were being forced to follow me.
In truth, there was no reason to bring the mayor and his people along.
The only reason that I was actually dragging them along with me was because I needed them to carry something.
It was the one special item that I had the mayor prepare before coming here.
While we were walking through the forest, it almost seemed like there was nothing here. There wasn't a single trace of any living creatures that were in the forest around us which made the mayor and his men tense.
The ones that the mayor brought with him were the hunters since they were the ones that knew these forests the best.
But since they were the ones that had the best understanding of this place, they knew why it was so strange that there wasn't a single sign of living creatures here. They knew how off putting this place really was.
It was as if there was something that was suppressing all of the living creatures in this place.
It was as if there was something that was stopping them from appearing in this forest. That was why the hunters were afraid.
After all, this usually meant that there was some kind of predator that was strong enough to suppress all of the other living beings. It meant that there was a beast that everyone else was afraid of.
However, even though I could see the looks on the faces of the hunters, I didn't stop moving forward.
That was because there was something about this place that I knew that they didn't know.
What they were thinking about would be the case if this place was normal, but there was nothing normal about this place.
If it was normal, there wouldn't have been that illusion magic array in the first place.
So what was in this place wasn't actually a dangerous predator.
However, I was confused why these things were here in the first place.
What was here should have been something elusive that wouldn't show themselves to people unless they had no other choice. It was something that should have kept to themselves, but here they were creating this magic array...
It really didn't make sense.
Was it because something had forced them to come to this place or was it because they were doing this on their own will...to help a certain someone?
The only way to figure this out was to meet them.
After heading a bit deeper into the forest, there was finally life that appeared around us.
There were the sounds of the forest that the hunters were used to hearing which made them a bit relieved, but they were still cautious since they could tell that it wasn't normal that all of the creatures of the forest were gathered in one place like this.
They could tell that there was something that was causing them to gather like this.
"How did you get through the barrier?"
A voice seemed to come out of nowhere.
Everyone in my group started looking around as if they were trying to find the source of this voice. While they were looking around, there were looks of worry and confusion that were on their faces.
After all, this voice sounded like that of a little girl.
All of them were confused why there was a little girl in a place like this, but they put that aside for now. This just wasn't a place for a little girl, so they wanted to find her as soon as possible and save her.
I was the only one that wasn't looking around like everyone else.
Instead, I was looking in front of me.
There was a reason why I had been leading our group in this direction.
With my sensitivity to mana, I was able to tell what direction the mana in this area was flowing. So I was able to tell exactly where the ones that cast the illusion magic array were, as well as where the one that was speaking was.
"We're the people that live in this place, so we should be the ones asking you why you're here." I said after a moment of silence.
There was only silence that followed as everyone looked at me with strange looks.
They couldn't understand what I was doing, but they didn't say anything as they waited for a response. From what I had said, they could tell that the owner of this voice wasn't normal, so they raised their guard as well.
"You're the one that led them to break the barrier? I can tell that there's something special about you. Are you the one that we've been waiting for?"
This time, I couldn't help revealing a confused look.
Waiting for?
What were they waiting for?
With my brows knitted like that, I asked, "Are you here to harm us?"
"Harm you? Why would we do that? We just followed the orders of the Great Fairy to find the one that has walked with the gods." The voice had a trace of confusion when it spoke this
time.
I was even more confused because of what it said.
But it wasn't because I didn't understand it, it was just that I didn't expect the voice to say something like this.
After another moment of silence, I asked, "Can we come in and talk? I think both of us want to understand each other better."@@novelbin@@
The voice didn't respond at first, but then it suddenly spoke.
That was because there was a mark that appeared on my hand.
"So it is you. Alright, you can come in and talk with our leader."
As soon as the voice fell, it was as if the trees around us parted ways with the way that they
bent to the sides.
It didn't take long before a clearing was revealed.
What do you think?
