Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 612: 611: Sleep

'Is this how I die?'

Countless thoughts, calculations, possibilities, and simulations flashed in Corey's mind as he stared at the swarm of black locusts approaching him.

In his perception they were moving at a slow speed, but he knew they were extremely fast and he would definitely die once the swarm of locusts reached him. He didn't need his instincts to tell him that the swarm of locusts was more dangerous than the strange entity with multiple pale hands.

'I overheard the residents saying that I would get tortured and devoured by the Cursed Souls. How the fuck is a swarm of locusts cursed souls?'

Corey knew that having such a thought was useless and pointless because it wasn't going to help him to survive the swarm of locusts, but at this point, he was frustrated.

What Corey did not know was that what the people of the town saw was not a swarm of black locusts, but a tide of distorted and disgusting looking souls of dead people. This was why they said he was going to die at the hands of corrupted souls.

His Eyes of Dreams and Nightmares was able to see through the illusion to know that it was actually a swarm of locusts. If he had used his Eyes of Omniscience, what he would have seen would have been different.

'Not only can I not teleport without using my Tri-Pupil Eyes, I cannot weave runes in the Tribulation. If I could, my chances of survival would have shot up drastically.'

Corey's violet-blue eyes glowed brightly as his main consciousness and stars of consciousness worked furiously to figure out a solution to his current situation.

Just when it seemed like all hope was lost and he was going to die in his second Tribulation of Hell, a voice called out to him from below.

"Hey! Enter if you want to live."

Corey looked down with a baffled expression. To his surprise, he saw a middle-aged man waving at him while standing outside a house. The door to the house was open, and Corey could see a woman and two girls peeking at him from the open door with visible expressions of fear on their faces.

Corey frowned when he saw this, and he quickly observed the man, the woman and kids, and even the house itself. He looked for anything suspicious, any traps, or anything that was out of the ordinary.

But he found nothing.

The man was normal, he did not give him a feeling of somebody that was extremely powerful. In fact, he felt like a Tier 0, a man who had never come in contact with mana or any higher form of energy before.

The woman and children were the same, and everything looked and felt normal, but Corey was extremely wary and baffled.

'What is going on here?' Corey wondered with a baffled expression.

He remembered the words of the carriage driver who told him that nobody would choose to help him, and that only a certain set of crazy and insane people would ever choose to help him.

'He said I'll see a mark on their foreheads if I want to recognize anyone of those people, but I don't see anything on their foreheads… So why are they helping me?'

Corey furrowed his brows in deep contemplation as he stared at the man. The man shifted his gaze to the swarm of locusts and then the slowly approaching entity with multiple hands.

An expression of panic and fear instantly appeared on the man's face.

"Honey."

"Dad."

The woman and two girls called out with a worried voice, and the man quickly looked at Corey.

"I'm risking my life to help you! Are you going to accept it or not?!"

Corey furrowed his brows deeper, and he shifted his gaze to the swarm of locusts and then the entity with multiple hands.

"Look up if you believe you still have a chance of survival!"

Corey's brows rose, and then he looked up. When he did, his eyes widened in disbelief because he could see countless meteorites of various sizes descending into the town with immense flames and heat on their bodies.

'The hell?

Corey cursed inwardly, and without hesitation he jumped towards the man. The man exhaled a breath of relief when Corey landed beside him, and without saying anything he ran to his house.

Slam!

The man slammed the door shut, and then he and his family exhaled a sigh of relief. He walked to the window and drew the curtains. When he did this, Corey saw countless black locusts moving past the building and no damage was done to the building as this happened.

"Luckily, we made it before the corrupted souls got to us."

The man said, and then he closed the curtains before turning to Corey.

"My name is Luke, and this are my wife and kids." Luke gestured to the woman and two girls, and then he continued speaking.

"I know you must be wondering why we saved you when nobody else dares to help you, but what I want to tell you is that we have no nefarious intentions towards you. We just want to give you a place to rest till daybreak."

Corey raised his brows, and then he folded his arms, "I heard that only those who are insane would choose to help me."

"And do we look insane to you?" Luke smiled while gesturing at his wife and children.

"Some of the most insane people are those who are able to behave like they're normal." Corey replied with a calm tone, and Luke's expression along with that of his wife and kids became uncomfortable.

Corey looked at them with his gaze remaining on the two girls more, and then he smiled lightly at them.

"But like you said, you don't look insane at all."

"Right? I would have been bothered and greatly offended if you thought we were actually insane." Luke chuckled softly, and then he took a seat on one of the couches in the room.

"We have a spare room upstairs which you can use to either rest or sleep till the night is over. As you can see, we are just normal people and we have no powers , so we can't hurt you."

'Is that so?' Corey thought while looking at Luke with a curious glint in his eyes.
