Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 675 675: 674: Don't Know What To Do

As Corey held Kyle's picture in his hands, his eyes reflected the image of Kyle wearing a pair of glasses and on his back was a young Divine wearing the brightest smile a child could ever make.

For the first time since he obtained a Cosmic Soul and awakened his Stats of Consciousness, he was unable to control his facial expression.

His mind was a chaotic mess and countless thoughts, questions, speculations, and emotions flooded his mind and heart at the same time.

A part of him wanted to believe that he was seeing things, that his mind was playing tricks on him, or that an extremely powerful being was toying with him.

His mind could not just believe that the picture he was looking at was Kyle's.

What were the odds?

What were the odds that the friend he killed in the past was the brother of the one person he regarded as a true friend?

The one person that had gained his trust to a certain degree?

What were the odds?

Although he had never called Divine his friend or anything of sort, deep in his heart, he knew that he regarded Divine as a friend.

Divine had done nothing wrong to him in the past, and if not for Divine, his time in the Underworld would have been much more difficult and chaotic.

Because of Divine, he never faced the difficulties that other Tier 0 Underworld prisoners went through.

Being associated with Divine was like a sign to other Underworld prisoners that he could not be messed with.

Not only that, it was because of Divine that he never experienced poverty in the Underworld.

Corey began recalling every conversation and argument he had ever with Divine, and a bubbling magma of frustration and confusion filled his heart and soul.

His current state of mind baffled him because even when his Master died, Corey never lost control of his emotions and his mind could still function properly.

However, his current state of mind was extremely chaotic, and that was because he had no idea on what to do.

From the tone and expressions of Divine, and from the fact that he decided to come to the Underworld to most likely save his brother from the Underworld, Corey knew that Divine loved his brother very much.

But what was he to do?

Tell him that his brother was his friend before the apocalypse but they became enemies and he killed him?

Or should he remain silent and just hope that Divine never realizes that he killed his brother or wait for the inevitable if Divine finds out?

Or should he make up a lie and push Kyle's death unto another individual like the Pope so that they'll both have a mutual enemy?

Or should he keep quiet and find a way to kill Divine after they leave the Underworld so that he would not have to worry about Divine taking revenge one day on him?

So many different thoughts appeared in his mind in a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second as he stared at the picture with trembling pupils.

Corey did not know what to do.

Although his mind was currently a chaotic mess, a part of him felt like the best decision to make is to keep quiet, leave the Underworld with Divine's help, and then kill him without anybody knowing so that he would not have to worry about Divine having revenge on him in the future.

Some might say that keeping quiet and not saying anything at all even in the future was the wisest thing to do, but Corey knew that doing that was the worst decision he could ever make.

If it was before the apocalypse and in a world without powers and abilities, he would not mind.

However, in a world like theirs with different powers and abilities, Corey knew that Divine could eventually find a way to figure out the whereabouts or the status of his brother Kyle.

It could be through the power of time or the power of fate or even by asking a powerhouse who could figure out Kyle's status with ease.

There were so many ways for Divine to eventually figure out that Kyle was dead, and Corey would always be on a knife edge because Divine could one day decide to kill him and get his revenge.

Corey knew he had to make a decision.

He slowly looked up and glanced at Divine, only to find him fumbling through his clothes and not glancing at him as he spoke.

Barely five seconds had passed, and Divine was still talking, not knowing about his expression and thoughts. He knew that he was lucky that Divine did not see the expression he had or he would definitely become suspicious.

Corey shook his head and controlled his facial expressions, though his heart and mind was still in turmoil.

He exhaled softly, and two seconds later, Divine shook his head and cursed.

"Ah, damn it. I can't find the picture. Did I forget it at home?"

Divine shook his head and faced Corey.

"Anyway, that's my brother in the picture. He looks kind and nice in that picture but don't be fooled by his appearance at all."

"Even when we were young, he was ruthless and cold to me. Especially during practice. Damn it, he was really ruthless to me during practice."

"Fucking heartless bastard."

Divine cursed softly but Corey could still see a smile on Divine's lips despite cursing Kyle.

Corey's expression was neutral and he returned the picture to Divine.

Divine took it and looked at it with a reminiscent look in his eyes.

"Although the bastard was ruthless at times, he was somebody you could depend on. He always made sure I was protected from anybody that tried to harm me."

Divine used his finger to touch the image of Kyle, and then he put the picture in his pocket.

"I think the first thing I'm going to do when I see the bastard is tell him that I love him. I never did that in my past life and I regret that."

"But oh well, that's my business. Not yours. Let's talk about what steps we should take before it's time for the Outsiders to place a bid on all of us like slaves."

Divine looked at Corey with a solemn expression and Corey nodded slightly with an indifferent expression.

Meanwhile, his mind was filled with countless thoughts and calculations.

Just as Divine was about to speak, Corey's eyes flashed with a gold light and what he saw changed.
