Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1552: Battle Of Talisman

Chapter 1552: Battle Of Talisman

No matter what, Shang Xia wasn’t fighting in his home world.

Despite being cloaked by the Spirit Abundance Banner to maximize his combat power, facing the Chen Dynasty Emperor, who was also at the grand completion stage, Shang Xia only managed to gain a slight upper hand during the barrier. Fortunately, he managed to tear a hole through the heavenly screen and escape with that.

However, what Shang Xia did not consider was the almost devastating blow his actions dealt to the Chen Dynasty Emperor's confidence, who has always proclaimed himself unbeatable under the Martial Emptiness Realm.

In terms of cultivation, both the Chen Dynasty Emperor and Shang Xia were at the same level. However, the Chen Dynasty Emperor had already been at his current level for nearly a hundred years, while Shang Xia had only recently reached his current state of cultivation.

Moreover, they were in the Essence Xing World, the Chen Dynasty Emperor’s stronghold. He had the support of his World’s Will while Shang Xia would be suppressed.

Even so... He still lost. How could he have lost even with the advantage on his side?

Could his dominance in the Martial Void Realm and all his exchange among peers of the other worlds be fake?

As the Chen Dynasty Emperor fell into self-doubt, Shang Xia had already appeared above the heavenly screen.

As expected, when Shang Xia appeared above the barrier, several high-level True Immortals were present. However, they were shocked by his presence.

Among the 4 waiting for him was the director of the Wanyun Association, Gong Zhuo!

They had been stationed above the heavenly screen by the Chen Dynasty Emperor and to prevent any miscalculations, they surrounded the few continents around the Tong Continent where the disturbance was detected.

However, from where Shang Xia emerged, had was clearly some distance away. He appeared at least 3 continents away from the Tong Continent.

Even though he chuckled coldly, Shang Xia didn’t dare to remain for long. He immediately started to fly into the void away from the heavenly screen. He didn’t try to conserve energy either as he ran at full speed.

Snapping back to reality, Gong Zhuo and the rest immediately raced over to stop him.

Of those present, at least 2 of them were fifth tier True Immortals. Even though they were some distance away, they would still be able to threaten Shang Xia slightly.

Shang Xia didn’t dare to be careless. He turned around to release the second move of his Six Harmony Rod Technique, Starry Disorder. He planned to borrow the power of the impact when they stopped his attack to flee further from the heavenly screen.

Almost simultaneously, dull thuds echoed in the void, with ripples of space spreading across the heavenly screen, causing the 4 high-level True Immortals to stagger to a halt.

Shang Xia didn’t care about the consumption of his inner qi at that moment. He pushed himself to his limit to flee into the depths of the void.

Even though he had left the heavenly screen, the World’s Will still suppressed him. Only if he got further away would he be able to free himself from its suppression.

Yet, Shang Xia overlooked one thing, there was another fifth tier True Immortal following him, the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate.

Since Shang Xia's departure from the Tong Continent and subsequent encounter with the Chen Dynasty Emperor, this fifth tier True Immortal had never ceased his pursuit.

The patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate discovered that their core talisman formation was actually in the hands of the outsider!

The talisman formation was the foundation of the Secret Talisman Gate and it concerned their rise. At the same time, it was crucial to the patriarch’s martial path and he couldn’t lose it no matter what.

As soon as the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate emerged from the heavenly screen, he didn’t join the others in an immediate assault on Shang Xia. Instead, he acted on his own and when the rest were stalled, he threw 3 rank six talismans at the foreign expert.

Shang Xia wasn’t expecting the presence of another fifth tier True Immortal, especially not with his aggressive approach.

He wasn’t too concerned about the 3 talismans that the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate activated, especially since he also had rank six talismans of his own, but he soon realized his oversight almost cost him dearly.

The talismans that was activated were completely different, but they seemed to achieve some sort of resonance and the might that was released was several times that of an ordinary rank six talisman. It vaguely matched the level of a rank six martial intent.

As soon as he noticed how the talismans interacted with each other, Shang Xia was reminded of the Variant Talisman that was made after fusing multiple talismans.

Whatever it was, he had to deal with the talismans that had been flung his way... The simplest way to do so would be to counter their effects with talismans of his own and Shang Xia was no inexperienced fool. He was also a rank six Talisman Grandmaster and with his judgment, he didn’t hesitate to activate a Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman.

Boundless clouds and radiant light formed out of thin air, swirling around Shang Xia, forming a fortress around him. The bombardment of the triple talisman launched by the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate slammed into them, scattering the cloud and light. However, after the commotion died, it failed to get rid of the effects of the Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman.

Even though the Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman was also a rank six talisman, there were clearly stronger and weaker talismans amongst the sixth rank. The Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman stood at the peak of all rank six talismans. As a peak-tier rank six talisman that Shang Xia activated personally, it could stop the martial intent of a True Immortal and might even be able to hold out against an attack from a Sage.

However, the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate seemed to have anticipated he might not be able to destroy the opponent’s defenses. After launching his talismans, he rushed straight into the cloud.

His arrival was the final straw that destroyed the effects of the Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman. A brilliant light burst forth and whatever remained of the cloud dissipated, but the second it did, a ball of golden flames burst forth. A magnificent phoenix emerged as it released a piercing cry before crashing into the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate.

The Secret Talisman Gate was clearly a sect whose foundations were built on the art of talismans, but Shang Xia was also a rank six Talisman Grandmaster with extraordinary achievements!

"Another Golden Phoenix Leaving Flame Talisman?!" The Secret Talisman Gate’s patriarch roared before turning around to flee. @@novelbin@@

It was a shame it wouldn’t be so easy this time. A giant hand appeared above the phoenix that came crashing down at the patriarch of the Secret Talisman Gate.

Shang Xia activated another rank six talisman, the Void Capture Talisman!

Facing certain danger, the Secret Talisman Gate’s patriarch didn’t panic. He retrieved a bronze talisman to stop the giant palm. Swinging both his arms, 10 talismans of different rank appeared from his sleeves to form a simple talisman formation before him. The phoenix that was rushing straight for him crashed heavily into it.

One by one, the talismans turned to ash in the golden flames, but the energy contained in the phoenix was also worn down and it eventually vanished.
