“Let’s go and look!”
“Absolutely!”
The two hastily grabbed their weapons and left the cave.
Knowing that His Highness intended to use Qiao Xuan to deal with Lord Shao, they couldn’t afford anything happening to Madam Shao now. Losing her due to their negligence would certainly lead to consequences from His Highness.
Their certainty that Qiao Xuan wouldn’t dare to venture far left them dumbfounded, clueless about her whereabouts. They chose a direction with less difficulty and fewer trees, searching together.
...
Regardless of their chosen path, Qiao Xuan managed to elude them once again.
Returning to the cave with a triumphant clap, Qiao Xuan found solace in its secrecy. Equipped with bamboo mats, blankets, and pillows, she fashioned a comfortable space.
While her space held the aroma of rice, noodles, and eggs, she opted for pastries and fresh fruits, avoiding further movement. The night had fallen completely, leaving any discussions for tomorrow.
Considering what reasonable excuse to provide when she met him later occupied her thoughts. Tomorrow, she planned to use methods to interrogate the captives, even though she was certain it was the fourth prince’s doing. Clearing any doubts seemed prudent.
That night, Qiao Xuan found it difficult to sleep.
Firstly, worry for Shao Yunduan consumed her, leaving her uncertain of his fate after her disappearance. Secondly, her ability to sense everything within her range made her unafraid of beasts or snakes, but only when she was awake.
Falling asleep carried the risk of being attacked by a ferocious beast.
Despite makeshift beds in the forest, it couldn’t provide true comfort.
As the long night passed and daylight returned, Qiao Xuan felt relief and finally fell into a deep sleep.
Upon awakening, more than an hour and a half had passed, with the sun high in the sky.
The mountain breeze carried a humid mist, and the birds filled the air with their chirping, creating a refreshing atmosphere. Qiao Xuan stretched, packed up her belongings, grabbed some food from her space for breakfast, and set out to find the individuals who had tied her up the previous night.
Qiao Xuan had scattered them in different locations, sensing their continued survival. None of them had encountered any dangerous beasts, and they were all alive.
Struggling fervently, they attempted to expel the gravel, mud, grass, and leaves from their mouths, but all their efforts ended in failure.
They had undoubtedly experienced an eventful night, evident from the insect bites on their faces, necks, and hands, marked by red and purple welts.
Feeling a sense of satisfaction, Qiao Xuan contemplated their plight.
Having endured a challenging day yesterday, she felt it was time for them to taste a bit of suffering.
Approaching one of them, she witnessed the fierce struggle of a man who, upon hearing the commotion, strained to lift his head.
His eyes turned fierce as he intensified his struggle upon spotting Qiao Xuan.
“Heh!” Qiao Xuan sneered from a distance. “My helper has arrived. You deserve your misfortune!”
What do you think?
