Chapter 162 Map Fragments
[Ding! You have received a Chain Mission (1/2)]
[Objective: Collect the map fragments (0/5)]
[Time Limit: - ]
[Failure: - ]
[Reward: ???]
Upon seeing the system's notification, Cain fell momentarily silent. He already had numerous tasks to handle, and now another mission had been added to his load.
Fortunately, since he also intended to explore the secret realm, Cain thought that he might as well visit the ruin to experience it.
Cain then scanned his surroundings, ordering the system to scan map fragments in his surroundings.
However, he was surprised when he scanned that apparently there were three map fragments in the auction hall, as he guessed that there were only two since Yuchen held one of them.
The other one was in the hands of a young man inside the VIP-9 room. Cain assumed that one of his reasons for participating in this auction was probably to bid for the map fragment since he already had one.
Naturally, he might only be here to join in the fun instead of waiting boringly like Garran did before. There were a lot of possibilities that he could come up with, but he didn't bother to do so as he immediately dismissed his thought and enjoyed the auction.
As the auctioneer saw that the excitement in the room had risen to the peak, she immediately said with a smile as she didn't want to waste any more time. "The starting price for this map fragment is 100 thousand Peak Rank Dominator crystals."
She intentionally didn't mention any restrictions with the minimum amount of increasing the bid since she wanted them to act freely with the bid.
"100 thousand!" Someone in a front row of the ground floor shouted excitedly as they couldn't help being tempted with the benefits if they could get the leftovers from the expedition later.
The fact that it was just a fragment of a map and had only been 'found' so far, everyone knew that there must be someone who held it and showed up when the time was right.
For the price of a mere 100 thousand Peak Rank Dominator crystals, they may be able to purchase a priceless opportunity, so when the auctioneer started the bid, almost everyone immediately shouted one after another within the lowest minimum price of the bid.
"101 thousand!"
"102 thousand!"
The bids from the ground floor rose rapidly, and even a few of those from the VIP rooms also started to join early, but each time someone from the VIP room bid, they would at least raise the price by 10 thousand, while the other people from the ground only raised the price by 1 thousand or 2 thousand at most.
The people from the ground floor even forgot the fact that they might even offend someone from the VIP rooms whenever they counterbid, as the benefits this time outweighed the risk.
As the time passed by, the price climbed rapidly to 300 thousand, 500 thousand, and 1 million as people continued to bid one after another right away whenever someone bid.
After reaching ten million, the atmosphere suddenly became tense as there weren't many people who bid for it since people from the VVIP rooms started to join in the fun and increased the price directly to 100 thousand every time they bid.
"Cain, aren't you going to participate as well?" Garran asked with a smile since he was sure that Cain wouldn't miss the chance to join in the fun in exploring the ruin.
Because Garran and Butler Zen were stunned when they heard that Cain would also enter the secret realm later, which meant that Cain's rank was at most in the same level as Garran's.
That's why they were left stunned, as they couldn't comprehend the information they received from Cain because there was no way that Cain could kill Lucan's protector when his rank was at most the same as Garran's.
Let alone the fact that after the fight, Cain didn't seem like he fought seriously since he immediately recovered instantly as if he intentionally didn't heal his wounds.
However, after thinking about it for quite a bit, they gave up on knowing how Cain was able to do that because they couldn't find a reasonable reason for it.
They believed Cain's words, as Cain didn't seem bothered to convince him and just told them they would know it by then when Cain entered the secret realm.
Not only that, Butler Zen was stunned once again when he noticed Anya's rank suddenly spiked into High-level Conqueror Rank when he was confident that Anya's rank before was at Peak-level King Rank.
He then informed Garran, as he didn't want to be the only person to have a stressful mind with knowing this unbelievable information, making Garran speechless once again because he couldn't also comprehend everything about Cain or his group.
Therefore, Garran decided to ask Cain since he wanted to confirm something from Cain's answer.
"Of course I'm interested," Cain replied with a small smile, "but I'll wait for the right moment." Then he turned to Yuchen. "Speaking of which, do you have any idea who else might hold additional fragments?"
Yuchen was somehow flustered when Cain suddenly asked her out of nowhere. But she immediately came back to her usual self as she replied with a nod, "There is another person that I'm sure of having one of the map fragments."
"Can you tell their name?" Cain asked again as he wanted to confirm whether the person Yuchen was referring to was the person in the VIP-9 room.
Yuchen knitted her eyebrows, wondering why Cain asked such a strange question. "His name is Li Jian, recognized by many as the strongest individual at our academy within his rank level. Why do you ask?"
When Cain heard it, he was overjoyed inside since it was a different person from the one in the VIP-9 room, which meant that he already knew 4 of the 5 people who held the map fragments. Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
"I just wanted to confirm something, that's all." Cain waved his hand dismissively before continuing to ask. "Any idea how many fragments might exist?"
"My people estimate either five or six," Yuchen answered, shooting him a polite smile. "We only have solid information on two of them, though."
"Perfect," Cain said, nodding decisively. "After this auction, spread the word that you've identified four of the fragment holders, leaving just one unaccounted for. That might draw the last person out."
Yuchen's eyes sparkled with sudden excitement. "So you're saying you already know who has the other fragment?"
"Naturally… He's even attending this auction as we speak." Cain replied.
"Is it you?" Garran chimed in, showing an eager expression as he also wanted to join in the fun if the map could be completed at that time.
"No." Cain shook his head in response.
"Then who is it?" Garran asked with an annoyed expression since Cain didn't explain it immediately.
"Well, I don't know who he is, but I can at least confirm that he has a fragment." Cain shrugged his shoulders with a smug expression before continuing. "Anyway, you'll know the person sooner or later."
Subsequently, Cain joined in the fun as he noticed that there were a few bidders left.
"20 million." Cain shouted, immediately raising the price by more than 5 million at once.
The atmosphere that had calmed down suddenly became hot again with Cain's offer.
The auctioneer smiled gracefully towards Cain's room and declared in a loud voice, as if baiting the others to bid more if they wanted to win the map fragment. "This young master from room VVIP-5 has bid for 20 million, is there any higher bid?"
After a few seconds of silence, the girl who had beef with Ayla previously suddenly bid out of nowhere when she hadn't even bid once in this map fragment.
"25 million."
The auctioneer instantly shouted again as she thought that she needed to intervene so that the others would bid one after another. "This—"
However, before she could say any further, Cain simply made another bid. "30 million."
"35 million," the woman retorted, her voice tinged with spite.
"40 million," Cain continued, a hint of amusement coloring his tone.
"45 million!" she snapped, clearly exasperated.
Sigh!
"This is my last bid." Cain sighed and made another bid. "100 million."
The auction hall immediately became lively since Cain directly raised the price by more than 50 million at once.
The girl showed a wicked smile as she thought that she had successfully made Cain suffer by letting him to bid until reaching his bottom line.
The auctioneer chimed in instantly, urging the others to follow up the bid. "This young master from room VVIP-5 has bid for 100 million, is there any higher bid?"
After around 10 seconds of silence, the auctioneer said in a loud voice.
"Going once…"
"Going twice…"
Pausing for another few seconds, she shouted with a beautiful smile as she congratulated Cain on his win. "Congratulations to the young master for winning the bid. We will deliver the item to you directly, and please prepare for the money at that time."
"Yeay! Big Brother Cain won the bid!" Ayla and Sylvia were overjoyed and jumped in Cain's arms as they hugged him happily.
"By the way, should I ask big bro Garran to pay for it?" Ayla whispered in Cain's ear as she thought that if Cain spent a huge amount of money to buy that inedible thing, her rations of food would be reduced later.
Cain shook his head when he heard it before ruffling her hair and letting her sit on his lap. "Don't worry, Ayla. I acquired plenty of wealth from the people who attacked us earlier, so we won't go broke anytime soon."@@novelbin@@
