Chapter 13 – Why are you too lazy to clean up and come over?!
Assistant Lin's eyebrows twitched as soon as he received the message.
"President Shen's belongings are still here. Should I help pack them up?"
He had asked President Shen half a month ago if he wanted him to tidy up since half of Yanshi's clothes and personal items were still there.
Yanshi had said, "If you have nothing better to do, give me the North America Bay project report within three days."
After pulling three all-nighters to rush out the report, he never dared to bring up the topic again.
As he was agonizing over what to do, Xiang-Nuan sent another message after a while.
"Or should I move them?"
Assistant Lin quickly replied to her: "No need, no need, I'll ask President Shen first. He probably just forgot because he's busy."
"Okay, thank you."
Both could feel the other's cautiousness.
Assistant Lin approached the door to Yanshi's office, took a deep breath, and knocked.
"Come in."
He pushed the door open and entered. Yanshi was still reviewing documents, not looking up.
Assistant Lin hesitated before tentatively speaking: "Miss Xiang asked me."
Yanshi's pen paused momentarily as he signed, then he continued fluidly, finishing the signature, tossed the document aside, and flipped to the next one.
"She asked how to deal with President Shen's clothes. Does she need to help pack them?"
Assistant Lin didn't dare to say "She can move them out too." How could President Shen care about a mere house?
Without lifting his eyelids, Yanshi said indifferently, "I'll get them after I'm done."
Assistant Lin was stunned. Did that mean he would personally get them?
"Shall I go instead?"
If President Shen himself had to handle such matters, what was he there for?
Yanshi glanced at him.
Assistant Lin's tongue nearly tied itself in a knot: "There might have been some oversights in the last report; I'll check it again."
Without another word from Yanshi, Assistant Lin left as if fleeing for his life.
After leaving, he sent a message back to Xiang-Nuan.
He wrote and deleted several times before finally sending a vague reply.
"Will come to collect later."
Xiang-Nuan didn't think much of the message, took a bath, changed into home clothes, and collapsed on the sofa to watch TV, just in time for the broadcast of "White Poplar."
With a jewelry dinner the next day, she dared not eat much and just nibbled on an apple.
After being busy non-stop for most of the month, she was both tired and sleepy, and soon dozed off.
She was awakened by the sound of the door opening. She was a light sleeper, alert to any disturbance, especially after becoming a celebrity, as there had been incidents of overzealous fans breaking into celebrities' rooms.
But as soon as she woke up, she remembered it was probably Assistant Lin. Rubbing her eyes and rising from the sofa, she walked out: "Assistant Lin, the stuff is all..."
Before she could finish, she saw Yanshi walking in.
She instantly became alert: "Why are you here?"
Yanshi glanced at her: "Didn't you ask me to come?"
"I..."
Xiang-Nuan was at a loss for words; she had clearly asked Assistant Lin.@@novelbin@@
"I just didn't expect you to personally attend to such a troublesome matter."
"It's on the way."
Xiang-Nuan felt a pang in her stomach. She thought she would never see him again after their last argument, determined to cut ties forever, yet here they were, sharing a room less than a month later.
She awkwardly didn't know where to put her hands and feet.
But Yanshi was quite at ease, walking past her into the room.
Xiang-Nuan politely offered: "Do you need help packing?"
Yanshi ungraciously accepted: "Sure."
Xiang-Nuan: "..."
If you're too lazy to pack, then why the hell did you come?!
