Chapter 14 – We've already broken up
Xiang-Nuan took a deep breath and mentally repeated ten times that this was a god she couldn't afford to offend.
Then, gritting her teeth, she went to pack his things.
Shen Yanshi sat down on the sofa, right where Xiang-Nuan had just lain, his hand still able to feel her lingering warmth.
The TV was still on, playing the scene where Ni-Man was planting white poplar trees all by herself. She carefully planted the sapling, patted the soil firm with a shovel, and then sat on a stone next to the little tree, gazing into the distance.
After a long wait, without a word, her eyes gradually reddened, and tears unexpectedly rolled down her cheeks. The evening sun cast a lonely and fragile shadow over her.
Xiang-Nuan brought out all his suits, glanced at the TV screen, and frantically searched for the remote control: "You probably don't like watching this."
After searching for a while, she found the remote control by Yanshi's side.

He spoke in a calm voice: "Just browsing."
He never watched the dramas she acted in. No, he didn't watch TV dramas at all.
So Xiang-Nuan had never experienced such a socially awkward moment before, but it was particularly this drama she didn't want him to see, probably because Ni-Man was too much like her. She always felt that it exposed her completely in front of him.
And he was watching it with her right there!
Xiang-Nuan, teeth clenched, said: "Watch something else."
It was the first time she commanded him.
Shen Yanshi raised an eyebrow, slightly amused, but surprisingly obediently turned off the TV.
His sudden compliance shocked Xiang-Nuan.
Compliant? That word didn't fit Shen Yanshi at all!
He probably just couldn't be bothered to watch.
Xiang-Nuan didn't dwell on it and continued packing his things.
The suits were all custom-made, each needing to be hung and packed separately, along with watches, ties, shirts – they couldn't just be stuffed into a bag like trash.
Of course, she wanted to do just that.
Instead, she found boxes for each item and packed them carefully.
She didn't realize until she started packing just how much stuff he had here.
Even cufflinks filled two whole trays!
Xiang-Nuan packed with a sense of despair, wishing she had moved out instead.
He must be doing this on purpose! Xiang-Nuan fumed with frustration.
She scurried around the room like a hamster, while Yanshi sat on the sofa like a lord, watching her bustle about.
With the TV off, he naturally only had her to watch.
"Was this drama filmed last winter?"
"Mhm." She was busy rolling up his ties.@@novelbin@@
"So you were with another man last year?"
Xiang-Nuan paused, then quickly said: "No."
"Then it was this year?"
She explained: "Xia Zehua and I were just hyping up a couple for the show, it wasn't real. I left the white poplar crew not long ago and went straight to the next set. I haven't been in touch with him since we wrapped up, and recent events are just our agents coordinating. Once the drama finishes airing, we'll be unlinked."
She was so busy every day, and on top of that, she had to cater to this godlike figure – where would she find the energy to play two sides?
Although she and Yanshi had already ended things, she still needed to clarify this to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.
She hoped for a peaceful parting with Yanshi, as offending him over some baseless misunderstanding wouldn't bode well for her.
"Did you ask me before getting involved in all this?"
Xiang-Nuan braced herself: "We've already broken up."
His dark eyes fixed on her, and she disliked the oppressive feeling of superiority that Yanshi exuded, always making her feel cornered and awkward.
Xiang-Nuan swallowed and averted her gaze: "Do you want me to pack your toiletries too?"
What do you think?
