Chapter 280- Farewell
"So, it is tomorrow."
Amelia voiced as she sat beside Richard with their little one peacefully sleeping before them.
Richard nodded, "Tomorrow is the day…I will be leaving with the forces and enter Clion."
The long wait of one year was already over and they were about to blow the horn for the commencement of the war tomorrow.
Richard has gotten the message from Zulcriz that the apostles were waiting for them in Eldoria.
Brad has already arranged the pinpoints around Eldoria where the teleportation portal would take them.
Bellarine was along with the others in the camp. In a few hours, they would be leaving. That's why they were allowed to rest in these final moments.

Bella and Lilia would be with Richard, meanwhile, the others would be waiting as a backup.
Emily and Bellarine's role would be quite crucial since they would be waiting for the right time to strike, while Richard would be commanding the forces on the frontlines.
"Richard…will I be troubling you to say that I am scared?" With her bright eyes containing evident anxiety, she asked.
Richard shook his head, "That's natural. Rather it would have been concerning if you had not said that."
Wrapping his arm around her shoulder he spoke, "I have given you very little time in these months, especially after Abigail was born. But you never complained…thank you for that, Ame-"
"Don't say that…you sound like you are saying goodbye…and I don't like it." Snuggling close to him, she shook her head in rejection.
Richard chuckled, "Okay, I won't talk like that." Richard kissed the crown of her head.
Amelia's eyes fell on their daughter, as she said, "I was really scared about what I would tell her...she cannot live without her father even for a day."
Abigail is extremely attached to her father. Wherever Richard remained he either had to visit home once a day or talk to his princess through video call.
That's why Amelia was quite distressed, since even if the war would proceed for a few weeks, it would be over a few years on Clion.
However, Abigail's unnatural growth has allowed her to understand the situation through several means. She collected information about the situation between Earth and Clion. She even read the history of the two worlds somehow, even though Richard wanted her to take things slow.
And one day, she came to her parents and told her father,
'I will protect Mama when you will be away…so come back victorious, Dad.'
That startled them both. Richard never thought that he would be hearing such words from his a few months old daughter.
However, those words helped Richard a lot.
"She is our daughter, Amy. Of course, she would be brave." Richard muttered with a smile as he warmly looked at his daughter.
They continued to chat…while Richard hoped that Amelia fall asleep at some point since he didn't want to see her face when he would be leaving her.
However, Amelia remained awake until dawn since these final moments with Richard were too precious for her.
She wanted to engrave every single second she spent with him, in the deepest depth of her mind.
*BZZZ*
Soon, Richard's phone buzzed, alerting him that it was time.
Amelia's heart began beating rapidly as her hold around his arm grew firm…just for a second before she released him and asked, "You are going?"
Richard nodded, "Yeah, they are gathering at the front ground."
Amelia wasn't told to remain at home since traveling that far was still not good for her health.
They both got up before Richard leaned down and planted a soft kiss on his daughter's forehead before whispering, 'I am leaving your mother in your hands.'
The little girl moved her lips but didn't wake up.
Richard smiled at her before getting up and extending his hand toward Amelia.
Amelia held his hand before they walked out of the house in silence.
The sun was peeking from the horizon and the cold winds of January made Amelia shiver a little.
Richard turned toward her before taking off his court and draping it over his beloved.
As he did so, he pulled Amelia closer to him.
Their eyes locked for a moment before their lips met in a soft embrace.
Tears welled in Amelia's eyes as she hugged him, her fists clutching his shirt as she forgot about everything in the world and just kept her focus on the person she was kissing.
The warmth of his body, his strong arms, his comforting scent…she etched it in the safest spot of her mind.
Soon, their lips parted before Richard rested his forehead against hers.
Her eyes were closed but tears continued to trail down.
"Crying like that…it makes my heart throb."
"C-can't be *sob* helped. Blame yourself for breaking all my emotional restraints."
Richard smiled at the girl, "Your emotions make you more beautiful…it's just seeing you cry makes me feel that I made the wrong decision of bring-"
Amelia sealed his lips by kissing him again.
She didn't keep her eyes closed this time and even bit his lip, making it bleed.
Richard accepted all her punishment silently before Amelia parted away from him and told him, "I want your lip to remain like that so when you return I can heal it myself."
Richard was taken aback by that demand, but soon he gave her a nod and assured her, "I will keep it like that and wait for my wife to heal it once I return."
Amelia smiled, "That's right…now g-go, everyone must be waiting for you."
Richard nodded before stepping away from her and switching to his elemental form.
Waving at her for the last time, he soared into the air, his figure disappearing within seconds.
Amelia kept looking at the sky while tightly hugging the coat he left behind, as she muttered,
'Please return safely…Richard…without you I would be lost.'
