Struggling as a Villain

Chapter 282- The first wave~1

"It's pure chaos…" Junisha muttered as she saw the forces of both sides collide.

Eleanor's plan to overwhelm Richard's forces with the Ambrobates collapsed the moment an army of demonic beasts emerged unexpectedly.

The sight was extremely chaotic. Their war cries mixed with the screeches of the demonic beasts, creatures born from madness and bloodlust.

A giant monster brute swung its jagged axe, cleaving through a horned fiend, but another demon lunged, sinking fangs into its throat. Black blood gushed. More demons swarmed. Clawed limbs ripped through the monster's armored hide, dragging it down.

Across the field, Ambrobate wyverns soared under the burning sun, their leathery wings slamming against the air. They dived, spewing fire and poison, but the demonic dragons met them mid-flight. One dragon, eyes glowing with cursed fire, caught a wyvern's throat in its fangs. A sickening crunch. The wyvern fell, spiraling into the battle below, its rider screaming.

On the ground, the Ambrobates pushed forward, but the demons were endless. A hulking demon beast tore through their lines, its bone-plated body shrugging off spear thrusts. A warrior leaped onto its back, stabbing wildly. The demon bucked, slamming the warrior into the dirt, then crushed him underfoot.

Blood soaked the earth. Bodies piled. The Ambrobates fought, but the tide was against them. The sun blazed high, but darkness crept in, crawling from the demons' very presence. The war was turning. The Ambrobates were losing.

We cannot let this continue—Eleanor, muttered before she turned toward Jessica and shouted,

"Send the Apostles!"

The vice-commander frowned…she looked back at the battlefield.

If they sent the Apostles, then their Divine Essence would eradicate both sides.

As a monster tamer, Jessica was hesitant to sacrifice the Ambrobates she had brought in.

'What are you doing Jessica….this is all for the greater cause….' Biting her lips and reprimanding herself in her head, she finally turned toward the waiting apostles, before commanding,

"CHARGE!"

Instantly, more than fifty apostles flew into the air, their silvery spears held tightly in their hands.

Their movements were synchronized as they charged up their weapon with holy light.

'So they lost their composure huh…' Richard muttered as he prepared to escape before they launched the attack.

The Apostles descended like falling stars. Their silver spears pulsed with blinding holy light, their bodies glowing like divine reapers. As they reached the battlefield, they raised their weapons high—then unleashed hell.

A blinding wave of pure energy exploded outward. The battlefield erupted. Demonic beasts and Ambrobates alike howled in agony as their flesh boiled under the divine radiance. Bones turned to ash, armor melted like wax, and eyes burst in their sockets. The air itself trembled as the holy power expanded, leaving nothing but charred remains in its wake.

The hulking demon beast that had crushed warriors moments ago convulsed, its body splitting apart from the inside. Holy flames crawled through its veins, bursting from its mouth, eyes, and every crack in its thick hide before it finally exploded into dust.

Above, the demonic dragons and wyverns screamed as light devoured them mid-flight. Wings disintegrated, and bodies tore apart as the holy force consumed every last trace of darkness and monstrous flesh. Some tried to flee, but the radiance caught them, turning them into nothing before they even hit the ground.

The battlefield was no longer a place of war. It was a graveyard of light. The once-roaring battle had fallen into silence. Not a single creature remained. The smell of burnt flesh and scorched metal filled the air, mixing with the thick, choking smoke. The ground, once soaked in blood, was now nothing but blackened surface, scorched clean by the Apostles' power.

Richard heaved a sigh, so many lives wasted.

"Well, Thalvorn's army did their work." As the redhead spoke, several portals began appearing behind him.

This time, the horizon was filled with bluish-black portals swirling close to the ground and people stepping out one after another.

They hurriedly, but in a mannered fashion, took their stance.

Those who wore green cloaks stood closer to Richard in a complicated pattern, making it impossible for someone to breach. And before them stood the crimson-cloaked warriors, their presence far more intimidating and their weapons raised.

They were distributed in more than fifty groups—each one of them having more than twenty soldiers.

Eleanor narrowed her eyes as she looked at the masses. She knew that the population of the earth was quite vast, however, this was a little too much.

However, she wasn't intimidated since her confidence comes from quality rather than quantity.

There were about a thousand soldiers from different nations, ready to attack the enemy forces.

Jessica turned to look at Eleanor before the violet-haired gave a nod.

Taking a deep breath, the commander barked, "ATTACK!!"

"Heeaaaayyyy!"

"HAAAAA!!"

More than five hundred soldiers, who were on the offense advanced toward the enemy forces. All of them were superhumans, which explains why their pace was so fast.

On the other hand, the forces from Earth didn't move. They simply stood there, holding their position and ready to engage.

Eleanor felt something was wrong...however, before she could warn or even utter a word, hell descendent.

The sky split open with fire and steel. A thunderous boom echoed as artillery shells rained from above, exploding in the midst of the charging superhuman army. Bodies flew, torn apart by the force. The ground shattered, massive craters swallowing soldiers whole. Blood and dust mixed, painting the battlefield in death.

Missile launchers roared, sending trails of fire streaking through the air. The first wave of missiles slammed into the advancing troops, the explosion engulfing dozens in an instant. The shockwave ripped through armor and flesh alike. Screams filled the air, then vanished, drowned in the deafening blasts.

Eleanor's warriors tried to push through, but the earth beneath them shook violently as more bombardments crashed down. Flames swallowed men whole, melting steel and flesh alike.

The air rumbled as gunships appeared, their mounted cannons spitting death. Bullets tore through the ranks, mowing down superhumans who could barely react. Tanks rolled forward, their heavy barrels unleashing hellfire, sending shockwaves that obliterated anything in their path.

Jessica's eyes widened in horror. The confidence of their warriors shattered in seconds. Hundreds lay dead, their bodies reduced to nothing but smoldering remains.

Eleanor gritted her teeth.

They had walked into slaughter.
