Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Day and night, Lin Shen pressed on, now beginning to suspect that he had fallen into an endless loop, as if being tricked by a ghost hitting a wall.

With his speed, several days and nights had passed without rest, he was still on the Jade Bridge, unable to see the end. Anyone would think they were just walking in circles.

But there was only one path on the Jade Bridge. If it really were a loop, he should have returned to the gate by now.

He hadn't seen the gate the whole way, so Lin Shen had no choice but to continue forward.

Just as he was about to doubt his life choices, the Jade Bridge finally came to an end.

"This bridge... is really just unbearably long..." Lin Shen sighed with relief as he saw a White Jade Tower at the end of the Jade Bridge.

It was fortunate that he hadn't tried to walk back, or else he would have wasted even more time on this Jade Bridge.

As Lin Shen approached the White Jade Tower, he found that at the end of the Jade Bridge there was only this tower, surrounded by a sea of clouds on three sides, with no other paths in sight.

The White Jade Tower bore no plaques or signs, and no words stood before its door. Lin Shen called out a few times, but there was no answer from inside.

After apologizing for the intrusion, Lin Shen cautiously pushed open the door of the White Jade Tower, and a ray of morning light shone from within.

Lin Shen was stunned by the sight that met his eyes.

Inside the door was a landscape of mountains and rivers, a setting sun, evening clouds, and white egrets, accompanied by the chirping of insects and croaking of frogs.

This was nothing like the White Jade Tower—it was clearly a scene from the Human Mother Planet.

Lin Shen found it hard to believe, he closed the door, paused for two seconds, and pushed it open again, only to see the same evening glow, not the interior of a tower.@@novelbin@@

Lin Shen tentatively stepped inside and instantly found himself by the riverbank. When he turned around, the jade door was nowhere to be seen, and the White Jade Tower had vanished as well.

Flying up into the sky to look around, Lin Shen was shocked to find that he was not far from the Dark Bird Base where he was born.

He flew in the direction of Dark Bird Base and soon saw familiar people and buildings.

"I'm really back..." Lin Shen quietly returned home for a visit, startling no one, taking just a few glances before heading straight to Tiancheng.

The Wei Family was puzzled; both Lin Shen and Wei Wufu had gone to the underground space, and there was only one way out through Townland Hall. How did Lin Shen return from the outside?

Lin Shen recounted the events he and Wei Wufu had experienced, leaving the Wei Family members dumbfounded.

Lin Shen told Wei Changqing that he needed to visit Nirvana first and then go to the Sea of Blood to settle the score with Little Star and rescue Wei Wufu.

Lin Shen had calculated that he could use his mechanical wristwatch to travel to the Mysterious Planet with the Golden Buddha Temple, undergo Nirvana in the ancient temple, then use the wristwatch to return to the Human Mother Planet.

After rescuing Wei Wufu, he could still leave the Human Mother Planet using the Yingyue Well; he wouldn't be trapped here.

Fearing that Wei Wufu might encounter danger on that strange planet, Lin Shen didn't dare to delay a moment and immediately teleported to Ancient Temple Star.

Just as he had thought, the Ancient Temple Star that he reached using his mechanical wristwatch had the Golden Buddha Temple. Lin Shen found Master Chao Du, got his permission, and once again dived into the ancient temple underwater.

Arriving at the Fire Basin mentioned by Tie, Lin Shen activated his Super Base Form, took out a God-making Egg, swallowed it without much hesitation, and then jumped into the Fire Basin.

Evolution Theory began to operate automatically, and suddenly he felt as if a strange energy within him was gushing forth like a spring, flowing endlessly to every part of his body.

At the same time, the energy from the Fire Basin surged towards his body. The flames, which obviously burned bright, gave off no heat; they even felt slightly cool.

The flames in the fire basin enveloped Lin Shen's entire body, yet he felt as if he were immersed in ice-cold water, his whole body indescribably cool.

Evolution Theory automatically kicked in, and his carapace also surfaced on its own. Lin Shen calmly absorbed the energy from both, waiting for his body to enter the Nirvana state.

Once he entered the Nirvana state, Lin Shen's body would undergo earth-shattering changes. How to maintain his humanity in such a state and ultimately return to human form was the key to Nirvana.

The energy from the fire basin continuously flowed into his body, and the energy from the God-making Egg inside him also kept breaking down and merging into his body.

Yet Lin Shen didn't experience the intense changes others had described, nor did he feel his consciousness was affected.

Tranquility!

Lin Shen only felt tranquility, and in this peaceful state, the two types of energy continually fused into his body.

"The effects of the Dark Domain Lotus Seed are truly remarkable, to integrate two Attributes so effortlessly into one..." Lin Shen thought it was the effect of the Dark Domain Lotus Seed.

As time ticked by second by second, Lin Shen gradually sensed that something was amiss.

Initially, he could feel the energy in his body becoming abundant, but his body remained unchanged.

Lin Shen had thought it was because the energy had not yet accumulated to the point where his body could undergo Nirvana, but even as the surging energy within him began to diminish, his body was still unchanged, showing no signs of entering Nirvana.

"What's going on?" Lin Shen was surprised to find that the energy from the God-making Egg was nearly exhausted, and his body still hadn't entered a state of Nirvana.

"This can't be right... Why haven't I undergone Nirvana..." Lin Shen felt the energy from the fire basin also diminishing and started to panic.

He had read many accounts of others' Nirvana experiences but had never heard of a situation like this.

Even after the flames in the fire basin went out, Lin Shen's body remained utterly unchanged.

He could feel that the energy from both the fire basin and the God-making Egg had indeed merged into his body, but that energy didn't induce a state of Nirvana.

Lin Shen stepped out from the fire basin, its flames completely extinguished, and reigniting it was uncertain and likely not anytime soon.

Even if the fire basin were relit, the Attributes would be different from before. Having already absorbed the Power of Nirvana from two Attributes, it would be impossible for him to absorb a third.

Filled with doubt, Lin Shen carefully examined his own Attributes. He was indeed still at Ascension Level, without any change in his Attributes and no acquisition of Nirvana Attributes.

After pondering for a long time, Lin Shen suddenly thought of a possibility.

Having undergone thunderfire body refinement at the Jade Level, although his Attribute remained unchanged, his Super Base Form and carapace did undergo some variations.

Could it be those changes that caused an issue with his body, preventing his Nirvana?

Lin Shen deactivated the Super Base Form, wanting to take a risk and see if he could only achieve Nirvana in a normal state.

But the result was the same. Under normal conditions, he still did not undergo Nirvana; his body had no reaction at all.

"What in the world is going on, could it be an issue with Evolution Theory? The flawed Evolution Theory is missing the latter sections; it's all from my own explorations in cultivation; could I be stuck here?" Lin Shen was on the verge of tears; he couldn't achieve Nirvana.

Then again, thinking about it, even if there were problems with Evolution Theory, he had absorbed the Power of Nirvana twice, including one from the Immortal Land. Even without cultivating the Evolution Skill, his body should have responded.

Now his body had no reaction whatsoever, which was definitely not normal; there must be a problem with his body.
