Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 787 Complete the Transaction

Facing the harsh criticisms from the officials of the envoy group, Glen was overwhelmed and at a loss for words.

Glen's gaze fell on Lin Shen, who now sat leisurely in the back, appearing as if nothing was wrong, and suddenly realized that he was the true fool.

Although he didn't know why the fake Celestial Divine Statue had shattered, he was certain that Lin Shen had known it was a fake all along, otherwise Lin Shen wouldn't have been able to speak of the issues with the fake Celestial Divine Statue.

Everything Lin Shen said matched precisely with the real Celestial Divine Statue, obviously premeditated.

Even though he knew the Celestial Divine Statue was fake, he said nothing during the appraisal, waiting until after the pact was signed to suddenly make an issue of it.

"Damn it!" Glen then realized, the reason Lin Shen made a fuss after signing the pact was troubling.

If he had stopped Lin Shen earlier and hadn't let him destroy the fake Celestial Divine Statue, there might have been a chance to turn things around.

But now that the fake Celestial Divine Statue was destroyed, it was like there was no evidence left; although both parties could say whatever they wanted, no one would believe such a shoddy thing was the real Celestial Divine Statue.

Glen was extremely regretful in his heart, blaming himself for underestimating Lin Shen, and for allowing Lin Shen to touch the Celestial Divine Statue.

"That guy schemed deliberately to trap me!" Glen glared fiercely at Lin Shen and shouted loudly, "You are the ones who damaged the Celestial Divine Statue, and I haven't even asked for compensation yet, but you want me to pay? Why should I?"

"Alright, you want us to compensate, do you? We'll compensate you with our artifacts; give us the real Celestial Divine Statue," Chi Jiu said with a cold laugh.

The confrontation escalated into an argument again and Glen knew he couldn't resolve the situation now and had to leave the meeting room again to report to Shaxun General.

At that moment, Shaxun General was waiting with Tian Jiuyou for news from the other side; once the Diman Tribe secured the Plant Pact from the Celestial Race, they could finally trade the real Celestial Divine Statue to Tian Jiuyou.

By then, the Celestial Race, having spent a fortune on a fake Celestial Divine Statue and the legitimate Celestial Divine Statue appearing in Tian Jiuyou's possession, Emperor Tianshu would lose face and money and immediately become the universe's biggest joke, a subject of lengthy gossip among the races.

"Lin Shen indeed is a cunning one, negotiating at the last minute and making the Celestial Race pay four planets less," Shaxun General was clearly reluctant and even blaming Tian Jiuyou, hinting that his intelligence was inaccurate.

"It's just a bit of cleverness, but in the end it all falls within your calculation, my general; no matter how sly he is, he never expected it to be a fake Celestial Divine Statue," Tian Jiuyou said.

His words were flattering to Shaxun, but they were also reminding Shaxun that it was him who brought out the deceiving Celestial Divine Statue.

Without his indistinguishable fake, and the Celestial Race's inability to identify it, the plan would have been difficult to execute.

Before Shaxun General could say anything, the communicator suddenly rang, and seeing that it was Glen calling, Shaxun answered, thinking Glen had finalized the deal.

"General... there's been a problem..." Glen said with a troubled expression.

"What's the matter? Did that human kid renounce the deal? Did he not sign?" Shaxun frowned.

"No... he signed…" Glen replied.

Hearing that there had been a signing, both Shaxun and Tian Jiuyou let out slight sighs of relief. As long as the pact was signed, that was all that mattered.

"He discovered a problem with the Celestial Divine Statue?" Shaxun asked indifferently.

Even if the other side had discovered an issue, it was too late, as long as they did not admit to a problem. The Celestial Race had signed the agreement themselves, leaving no opportunity to retract.

"Lin Shen said that the statue we brought out isn't the one they authenticated," Glen said hastily.

"Did they say it was different? Couldn't you just take out the recording from their last authentication and compare it directly? As long as it's the same statue as the one they last authenticated, even if it's a fake, they would still have to accept it," Shaxun said coldly.

"We can't compare them…" Glen's face was full of distress. "Lin Shen smashed the divine statue into pieces."

"How preposterous! The Celestial Race dares to act so brazenly in Di Man Tribe's territory; they are courting death," Shaxun shouted angrily.

"They did not strike," Glen said stiffly.

"If they didn't strike, how was the divine statue shattered?" Shaxun asked taken aback.

"It just broke into pieces like tofu dregs with a casual slap. General, could there be a problem with our divine statue? Did we bring the wrong one? Otherwise, how could it shatter upon touch?" Glen said.

Shaxun and Tian Jiuyou were both stunned. How could it shatter with a casual slap?

Although it was a fake, it was transformed from an Immortal Life Base. Except for not being from the first Celestial Immortal's Life Base, it actually wasn't much different from the real thing; it wasn't made of tofu, so how could it crumble into tofu dregs upon a touch?

Even Lin Shen, a Nirvana Being, couldn't achieve that, and ordinary Immortals would find it hard to do so to that extent.

"Shattered by a touch? Without using any skills? No use of Power of Nirvana?" Shaxun asked incredulously.

"No, nothing was used, just a bare-handed slap that shattered it into pieces; when grasped, it crumbled into debris. Our people checked too; the material crumbles on touch; it's definitely not Immortal material…" Glen explained.

"Tian Jiuyou, what's going on here? Didn't you say that the fake Celestial Divine Statue was also transformed from an ancient Celestial Immortal Life Base? How could it shatter upon touch?" Shaxun turned to Tian Jiuyou.

"It's impossible; it's transmuted from an Immortal's Life Base. It wouldn't even break if a regular Immortal struck it with full force, let alone crumble into tofu dregs like he described. Lin Shen must be tricking us…" Tian Jiuyou's expression turned grim, unsure of how to handle the situation.

"Play a trick for me then, how without any skills or the use of Power of Nirvana, get a Nirvana Being to turn an Immortal Life Base into debris by simply touching it?" Shaxun snorted coldly.

"General, please be patient, there must be a reason. We need to investigate it thoroughly first," Tian Jiuyou said.

Shaxun ignored him, turning to Glen, "What did Lin Shen say?"

"They insist this is not the Celestial Divine Statue they authenticated that day, and demand we hand over the real one they authenticated, or else, per the agreement, return three times the penalty fee," Glen said and asked, "General, what should we do now?"

"What else can we do? Give them the real Celestial Divine Statue and complete the transaction," Shaxun replied.

"General, that can't be! We have an agreement; the real Celestial Divine Statue was supposed to be sold to me." Tian Jiuyou exclaimed in shock, quickly getting up to stop him.

"The Celestial Divine Statue you brought was detected, that's your lack of skill. You lost, so you have to admit defeat," Shaxun said grimly. "If you want the Celestial Divine Statue, pay the triple penalty fee first, then we can proceed with the trade."

Tian Jiuyou fell silent at once, the triple fee being equivalent to nine Base Mutation Planets, plus the resources to purchase the Celestial Divine Statue. Such a massive amount, if he could afford it, he wouldn't have needed to play these tricks.
