Chapter 788 The Spaceship is Hijacked
Chi Jiu and the entire delegation felt as if they were dreaming.
The Diman Tribe had actually said they brought the wrong Divine Statue and then brought in an old, shabby Celestial Divine Statue.
After being appraised by the Celestial Race's appraisers, not only did the statue meet the standards of Celestial Divine Statues, but also all the points mentioned by Lin Shen corresponded one by one; no matter how they looked at it, it seemed real.
However, they still didn't dare to be certain and all turned their gazes to Lin Shen.
But the people from the Diman Tribe were guarding Lin Shen as if guarding against a thief, and simply did not let him touch the statue. Every time Lin Shen got slightly close to the Divine Statue, he scared Glen and the others into a cold sweat, hurriedly reaching out to stop him, fearing he would shatter the statue again.
This was a real Divine Statue, and if it were to break again, they couldn't conjure up a third one; no one could bear that responsibility.
"It seems there are no problems, so let's start the handover," Lin Shen said with a smile as he stepped aside.
Glen let out a long sigh of relief, forcing a smile as he completed the handover with the representatives of the Celestial Race.
Chi Jiu and the others went through the handover as if sleepwalking. Chi Jiu, who should have been in charge, looked like an apprentice who had yet to complete his training, always checking Lin Shen's expressions before making any decisions.
It wasn't until the handover was completed and the Celestial Divine Statue was directly transported onto the spaceship that Chi Jiu still felt somewhat surreal.
"Is this really a Celestial Divine Statue?" Chi Jiu couldn't help but ask Lin Shen beside him.
"It should be real, right? Haven't you all already appraised it?" Lin Shen said with a smile.
Chi Jiu suddenly didn't know what to say. His eyes carried a hint of resentment – he had previously had a fair amount of trust in Blue Eye Master and his appraisals, but now, if Lin Shen were to say this thing was fake, he really wouldn't dare to believe Blue Eye Master and the others.
"I think it should be real," Lin Shen said, feeling a bit uncomfortable under Chi Jiu's gaze, and then added, "This time we only used three planets to exchange for the Celestial Divine Statue; we should consider the mission completed with Perfection, right?"
"Not just Perfection, but exceeding expectations. Thanks to Lord Lin being here, otherwise we would have fallen for those shameless scoundrels of the Diman Tribe," Chi Jiu said, getting angry just thinking about it.
Even with Lin Shen to take the blame, if they had really exchanged seven planets for a fake, that feeling of defeat would have been unbearable.
Later, the foreign races wouldn't care whose signature it was; the entire Celestial Race would become a joke.
"It's the result of everyone's efforts, without your reasoned and vigorous arguments, the Diman Tribe wouldn't have easily given up the real Celestial Divine Statue," Lin Shen said.
Chi Jiu's look towards Lin Shen became even more peculiar; this human was actually able to say such things at this time, clearly signalling to them that he wouldn't take all the credit alone, nor would he expose their mistakes.
As long as Lin Shen didn't clarify the issue, the higher-ups of the Celestial Race wouldn't know about the stupid things they did in the negotiations. It was as if a great mistake had turned into merit, and the outcomes upon returning would be vastly different.
For a moment, many officials from the delegation had a change of attitude towards Lin Shen, and a majority of the officials felt a sense of gratitude towards him; their gaze at Lin Shen was no longer the same as before.
"Dean Lin, I don't know what to say," Chi Jiu said with a look of shame.
He had only intended to let Lin Shen take the fall, but he hadn't expected that Lin Shen would not only bring back the real Celestial Divine Statue, but also only paid three inferior planets in the process. These methods made even Chi Jiu feel as if he were on a rollercoaster, unable to anticipate what would happen next. He found it utterly unfathomable.
The other officials in the envoy delegation were half in awe and half grateful towards Lin Shen, daring not to show the slightest disrespect to this near-minister by Emperor Tianshu's side.
Yet Lin Shen knew his own circumstances well; had he not fortunately encountered Keke and been taken to see the true Divine Statue of the Celestial, he wouldn't be much stronger than Chi Jiu.
"Who exactly is this Keke?" Lin Shen wondered, harboring some suspicions, yet unable to confirm them.
He had also searched online, but found no information about this person named Keke, and even checked pictures of some notable and wealthy young people from the Diman Tribe on the Celestial Net, still without finding such a person.
Meanwhile, inside the Imperial Palace on Diman Star, a young eunuch was serving the Little Emperor of the Diman Tribe, Shaxun XI, his meal.
Had Lin Shen been there, he would have recognized that this Little Emperor of the Diman Tribe was none other than the Keke he had met in the projection hall.
"Your Majesty, do you have anything joyful to share today?" The young eunuch asked, seeing the emperor eat with a smile and even laugh out loud, curious about what could be so funny about having a meal.
"Nothing, I'm just feeling happy," the Little Emperor replied with a smile, unable to suppress the grin on his face.
He was indeed overjoyed, having never felt as happy as he did today since ascending to the throne.
After all these years, he finally had his first win, at last putting one over on that person.
"The alliance between Tian Jiuyou and that old thief has developed fractures; Yu Star and Blazing Star didn't fall into the old thief's hands, delaying his plan to form a great western alliance. I still have a chance," the Little Emperor thought of that person, his lips curling up again: "Interesting fellow, I had underestimated him, thinking at most he could only disrupt the deal. I didn't expect he could go this far. If I had more talents like him by my side, my situation perhaps wouldn't be as difficult as it is now."
"Just leaving like that? Not even a goodbye message." Catherine was very unhappy. Lin Shen had left Diman Star without even notifying her, though she had clearly given him her contact number.
Naturally, Lin Shen was not in the mood to contact Catherine; the mission would not be complete until the Divine Statue of the Celestial was returned to Sky Pinnacle Star.
The journey of the spaceship was the most dangerous time; everyone was on high alert, fearing any unforeseen incidents.
But what one fears may come to pass; suddenly, the high-speed flying ship halted as if it had been put on a stand, unable to move no matter how the drive was engaged.
Lin Shen's complexion looked very grim; to possess such power, the newcomers were likely no ordinary people.
Immortal guards and Chi Jiu immediately erupted with the terror of Immortal Laws and radiance, bursting out of the spaceship to guard its surroundings.
Standing in the control room of the spaceship, Lin Shen could see more than a dozen individuals from different races surrounding the craft outside.
The space around them was twisted and deformed, clearly all immortals with the Immortal Laws.
The nearby space was so contorted that the entire spaceship was trapped within this twisted realm, unable to move at all.
"That is... Tian Jiuyou..." The Blue Eye Master exclaimed with a drastic change in his expression, recognizing one of the grey-haired Celestials.
"Damn it, this is completely shameless, starting trouble on the Diman Tribe's territory," Lin Shen cursed inwardly, sensing a grim situation.
Including Chi Jiu, they had only six Immortals on their side, whereas the opposition had more than a dozen Immortals, not to mention one was Tian Jiuyou.
What do you think?
