Chapter 31 - 31 28 Blooming Flowers Everywhere
Chapter 31: Chapter 28: Blooming Flowers Everywhere Chapter 31: Chapter 28: Blooming Flowers Everywhere They quickly traversed through the dense forest, putting the first obstacle wholly behind them.
Suddenly, a cluster of pink flowers appeared. They weren’t tall, but eye-catching, settled into a corner. Jingxing asked, “What’re these flowers called?”
Yu Qing glanced at them, replying, “Plums.”
“They are pretty.”
“Not just pretty, they’re incredibly beautiful. I have one planted in my courtyard, but it’s not as dazzling as this one.”
“The Demon Palace?”
“Of course, the Demon Palace. I’m especially fond of this flower. It resembles a peach blossom, but it’s far more beautiful.”
Ye Chen was unexpectedly captivated by a white scene before him. Initially, he thought it was snow on the mountainside. As he drew closer, he realized it wasn’t snow but pear blossoms. A single tree might not be interesting, but the sight of countless pear blossoms blooming over the mountainside, blanketing it in a white flurry, was a sight only describable as an ocean of flowers.
This sight could only be regarded as awe-inspiring, exuding a powerful aura.
An overhanging cliff appeared, curving inward like a crane’s beak, stretching towards the east. Ye Chen, after glancing behind him and then at the eastern sky, realized that the sun was about to rise. If he continued climbing, he would miss sunrise. This spot provided a perfect view. Breaking into a sweat, he put down his belongings, wiped his forehead, and found a seat. Despite the stuffiness, it was still breezy here.
Not long after, Haotian arrived, panting heavily.
“Wow, such a beautiful sea of pear blossoms!”
Ye Chen turned his head, making space for Haotian.
The sight from here was clear and far-reaching.
“Sunrise is almost here.” Haotian called out loudly, urging the others behind him to catch up.
The eastern sky was growing increasingly reddish, so much that it began to exude a purplish hue.
Haotian gulped down a few sips of water, claiming, “You’re so fast. Compared to you, you’re the real martial artist.”
Ye Chen gave a faint smile, “Have you not exercised in a while?”
“A little while.”
The group behind quickened their pace, crossing through the pear forest rapidly.
The sound of admiration echoed throughout.
The rhythmic rumblings grew louder and louder, resembling the drumming on the earth—it echoed from a distant place, growing nearer.
“What is that sound?” Ye Chen asked.
Haotian replied, “It sounds a little bit like the sound of ocean waves.”
“Have you ever seen the ocean?”
“Once. The azure ocean is exactly like the sky—constantly stirring and sweeping, overwhelming. In front of it, we truly realize how insignificant we are.”
“Hmm. I’ve heard of it, but never seen it.”
“There will be a chance,” Haotian reassured him, patting his back.
The sounds drew closer.
From a distance, a voice echoed, “Has the sun risen yet?”
“Haha, it has risen.”
Shi Zi hopped up, thinking she had missed it.
Only after catching up did she realize that Haotian had tricked her, but the glowing horizon was indeed turning redder.
“Such a beautiful sea of pear blossoms.” Yu Qing exclaimed in admiration.
“Magnificent, like a snowfall,” the voice of Young Master Ze added from behind.
Shi Zi in the front was getting impatient, yelling, “Hurry up, you guys, hurry up. The sun is about to rise.”
Bi Chun also made it.
Everyone chose a spot on the grass, a rock, or a stump, and sat down.
Suddenly, Shi Zi let out a roar, as if venting her emotions.
Haotian, lying on the ground, was startled. “This lion roar… are you missing male lions?”
A foot flew towards him.
“Stop hitting people at the drop of a hat. No one will dare to marry you in the future, you know!”
“None of your business.”
“Haha, as your brother, how can I let you become an old maid?”
“Somebody already reserved me a long time ago.” Zhan Ze chimed in.
“Brother Zhan Ze,” Shi Zi looked over.
“Alright, no more teasing you, hurry up, watch the sunrise.”
The line between heaven and earth became more pronounced, tinted with a red hue. Suddenly, a timid dot of light emerged from the ground. It was not dazzling at first, resembling a curious child peeking out slowly, gradually revealing a small head.
At this moment, Shi Zi couldn’t help but exclaim.
Everyone else was also rooted to the spot in awe.
Red, everything around was dyed red too. The color was not very bright, but it was getting conspicuous; a bamboo shoot sprouted through the soil all of a sudden and captured everyone’s heart. Once it appeared, shyness turned into curiosity, showing increasing bravery.
Pure and clean red, like a burning iron cake. Gradually, the color started to turn increasingly radiant, slowly morphing into golden. In just a blink of an eye, a significant change happened; the color of the clouds in the east became more complex as well.
It gradually started spreading over here.
The red sun slowly became dazzling, releasing its magic. It was not the same as before, as if sensing the earth needed her, it emitted a golden light from the east.
The Immortal City in the layers of mist became a little clearer. However, it would take some more time to completely dissipate the thick mist.
“It’s beautiful.” Yu Qing let out a sigh of admiration.
“Yes, it’s beautiful, quite spectacular,” Zhan Ze added.
Ye Chen stood up, glanced behind him, and said, “I still see a long way to go.”
Yuan Jingxing said, “Let me carry the things for a while.”
“No need, I’m not tired.” Ye Chen walked ahead.
Shi Zi glanced at Jingxing and laughed, “Even if you weren’t carrying anything, you wouldn’t be able to keep up.”
“Haha, who said I couldn’t, I am just protecting you from falling like a barrel, didn’t you know!”
“Be careful, or else you might roll down the mountain like a barrel and drag me along.”
Hearing this, both Yu Qing and Zhan Ze burst into laughter.
After the sun rose, changes occurred rapidly. In just one hour, it became so glaring, dark red at first, but then slowly turning into golden. It seemed to sense the earth’s dire need for her warmth; she kept emitting golden light, which spread to the fields, and the fog also began to thin out.
Haotian followed Ye Chen, both of them climbed higher.
“It’s been quite a while since I last came here.” Haotian was also surprised by the changes here.
Ye Chen quickened his pace, as the continuous sounds of laughter passed from behind.
The laughter was mostly from Jingxing and Shi Zi’s playful bickering.
Haotian laughed, “Why is Jingxing so excited today, this guy, he can never express himself.”
Ye Chen smiled faintly upon hearing this.
The trees became sparse, not as dense as those at the foot of the mountain. The sun kept emitting its rays, which pierced through any gap it could find to light up the forest. The forest remained in the fog while the white mist retreated into the dense forest as if it were a child hiding.
Yet, the light showed no mercy, as if they had had their fun all night and it was now his turn to take control, pushing them back relentlessly.
In less than an hour, the sun was so blinding that you dare not look directly into it, causing eye pain.
The sky had completely lit up.
The dew on the leaves gradually diminished until it disappeared entirely.
At this time, birds suddenly increased in number, flying all over the place. Little deer followed their mothers, bleating everywhere. Suddenly, the forest also got lively. However, it was less lively than the group at the back.
Shi Zi said, “Jingxing, if you keep competing with me like this, I’ll genuinely start suspecting you have feelings for me.”
Hearing this, Yu Qing added, “What’s there to suspect, it’s as obvious as it gets.”
Enraged, Shi Zi slapped Yu Qing’s arm.
“No way, how could I ever like him.” Yuan Jingxing pretended as if nothing had happened.
Zhan Ze laughed, “Don’t sound so definite. Nothing is absolute.” He, of course, knew Jingxing had feelings for her.
“The two of you, one sings while the other follows, your cooperation fits seamlessly,” Shi Zi commented.
Hearing this, Yu Qing chuckled lightly, “We are not seamless, we just think you two should consider moving in this direction.”
“Better focus on yourselves,” Shi Zi retorted, fuming.
Suddenly, the number of trees became a lot more intricate. The flowers at the summit blossomed relatively earlier. Different flowers appeared simultaneously, competing for attention. Magnolias, Begonias, Lilacs, Wisterias, and many more that were unnamable, all started to bloom. They blossomed here and there as if this was their most beautiful stage in a year, all showing off their beauty. It was so overwhelming that one could hardly take in; just as one stopped to admire, another unidentified tree started to bloom.
This sight was a visual feast that fascinated people. Yu Qing also got excited about it. Being a flower enthusiast, she had never seen such a scene before. Previous encounters with flowers allowed her to take her time and admire them, whereas now she found another more fascinating blossom before she even finished appreciating the prior one.
Each held its grace; some may be more beautiful and radiant, but every blossom was full of confidence, unaffected by the others’ posture. Just like people, each had their nature and form.
As Shi Zi knew that Yu Qing was knowledgeable about flowers, she asked Yu Qing to introduce them to her. Yu Qing was even able to narrate some stories, these stories along with the flowers made them even more bewitching, as it illustrated scenes from the tales in their minds.
Honey-collecting bees buzzed everywhere, and birds also took the opportunity to find food. The forest gradually became bustling, with people surrounded by numerous competing blooms. Different flower fragrances combined into one, making it even more enchanting.
“You know so much,” Shi Zi remarked.
“Hehe, I just remembered a few things,” Qing’er responded.
“Looks like I have to learn too.”
“Even if you learn, it won’t last more than three days of enthusiasm, after which you will lose all interest,” Jingxing commented.
“You underestimate me,” Shi Zi protested.
“I know you, I’m not sure about the others, but how can I not know about you!”
Yu Qing laughed, “Going by your words, your relationship indeed is not simple.”
“Nonsense,” Shi Zi signaled Bi Chun to fetch two or three branches of each flower. In no time, her hands were full of flowers, she could barely hold them. She gave them to Shi Zi, who was relishing each of them.
The path was not as steep anymore, the peak seemed close, but it indeed was still far.
What do you think?
