Yan Fei, on this occasion, discarded the route he had taken to arrive and set out to settle scores with Qatar’s Al Jazeera English TV Station. Located in Qatar’s capital, Doha, the quickest and shortest route there would be through Iraq and the Persian Gulf.
On this route, the Drone would first enter Iraq from the Syrian border near Mosul, then head southwards across the Iraqi airspace and eventually reach Basra in southern Iraq, before entering the Persian Gulf waters through Basra Port. After flying several hundred kilometers over the Persian Gulf waters, the Drone would reach Doha. Since Doha is a coastal city, the Drone wouldn’t even need to fly over land to deliver Yan Fei to Al Jazeera English TV Station in Doha.
This shortcut is shorter and quicker, saving at least four thousand kilometers compared to the Drone’s journey from the Mediterranean to the Suez Canal, through the Suez Canal to the Red Sea, from the Red Sea into the Arabian Sea, and finally into the Persian Gulf to Doha. However, this would expose the Drone to Iraqi airspace radar surveillance. But given the utter decline of the Iraqi military force, with just a bit of caution, Iraq’s virtually defunct air defense radar and the Air Force would never detect the Drone.
The Drone could fly at full speed for five hours when the Drone Energy Points were sufficient, covering a distance of over eighteen thousand kilometers. However, these Energy Points aren’t solely for flying; they serve many other purposes. Yan Fei always felt the amount spent was not replenished enough whenever he used Energy Points, so it was crucial to conserve them whenever possible. Otherwise, it would be a pity if he encountered a critical moment and the Drone was unable to operate due to insufficient Energy Points.
Thus, the Drone, under the control of Yan Fei and guided by the Quantum Radar, swiftly entered the northern territories of Iraq. To minimize any trouble, the Drone kept a strict flying altitude of only twenty meters above the ground, where it was most likely to avoid detection by ground radar. Even with US Forces stationed in Iraq, it was hard for them to spot a Drone at that height.
The Drone flew silently and swiftly through Iraqi airspace, stirring up a whirlwind of airflow at low altitude, but with the control of the Auxiliary Brain, this turbulence did not reach the ground, ensuring that the ground troops remained unaware of any abnormal activity.
Although it was deep into the night in Iraq, Yan Fei could still clearly see the buildings on the ground through the Drone’s vision. All the structures below were in ruins, not a single high-rise or new building in sight, presenting a visage of post-apocalyptic decay.
Iraq was once a world-renowned oil-producing country, rich in the Middle East decades ago. Its domestic cities were well-developed, its political situation stable, welfare generous, and its Military Force formidable. Who would have thought that under the influence of The United States of America, Iraq would begin its own demise? They not only waged an eight-year-long war with Persia but also invaded Kuwait in an attempt to default on debts, only to be thoroughly beaten by The United States and realize its true position in the world.
Then, after being awakened by the United States, the Iraqi people began to idolize the United States. They yearned for the “Democracy” and lifestyle of the United States, started protesting domestically, thinking that overthrowing the Government would earn them their ideal life. When the United States launched its second strike on Iraq, these people stepped forward to publicly oppose the Government and even helped guide the US Forces. Swiftly the once strong Iraq collapsed from within, its leader captured by the US Forces and hanged.
The Government fell, but to the surprise of those naive citizens, the Democracy and blissful life they had hoped for did not materialize. Instead, they faced over a decade of war and economic decline. Surrounded by constant bombings and threats of death, their once beautiful and bustling cities turned into Ruins, the generous welfare disappeared, and they lived in extreme misery, struggling to make ends meet, prompting some to reflect on their past actions and even to miss the good old days under their former leader. But there is no cure for regret, and the once prosperous and powerful Iraq was gone forever. Those who betrayed their country faced a hopeless, war-torn Iraq, waiting indefinitely for a strong leader to emerge and set things right again—but when, or if ever, that might happen was unknown…
Gazing at the ruins below, Yan Fei deeply realized the importance of peace. His reflection did not slow the Drone’s swift flight. To evade radar tracking, the Drone purposely avoided military zones occupied by US Forces and densely populated areas. Thus, its journey went smoothly, and in just twenty minutes, the Drone had flown across the entirety of Iraq, from Mosul in the north to Basra in the south. Carefully, it flew over the Basra Port and entered the Persian Gulf.
The Persian Gulf is one of the world’s principal oil regions, with two-thirds of the oil consumed around the globe being transported through it, leading some to call it the “Oil Channel.” Should any nation or force blockade the Persian Gulf, other countries worldwide would be plunged into a state with no oil, causing devastating impacts on their regular operations and economic order, as well as immense international financial turmoil, posing significant threats to global economic development.
