Chapter 41: It Could Be Exchanged for Tens of Thousands of Pounds of Dried Meat.
Whoosh…
“Your contribution is the greatest, so you should drink more water.” Mu Liang poured plenty of water onto the tea tree.
He sealed the wooden bucket again, ensuring the crystal fish wouldn’t keep pouring water everywhere.
“Wow! It’s a green tree.” Mino ran over excitedly.
The bunny-eared girl blinked her blue eyes and asked expectantly, “Mu Liang, were trees like this before?”
“Yes, have you never seen a tree before?” Mu Liang asked in surprise.
“I have, but they were all dried up.”
Mino nodded her little head, her voice filled with both innocence and astonishment. “I just didn’t expect trees originally looked like this.”
“This is a tea tree.”
Mu Liang pressed his lips together and introduced it with a complicated tone: “Tea leaves can be brewed into a drink, and it tastes very nice.”
He hadn’t expected the bunny-eared girl had never seen a green tree. So, when did the world of the wasteland apocalypse begin?
Why did some people still possess seeds?
“Can the tea leaves be brewed tonight?”
Mino smiled shyly and whispered, “Just a little. I’m curious about how it tastes.”
“Of course. You can have as much as you want,” Mu Liang said dotingly with a nod.
“A little is enough,” Mino replied bashfully, gesturing with her fingers.
“Pick some tender leaves and buds from the tea tree. This part is the best for brewing tea,” Mu Liang instructed gently.
He noticed the bunny-eared girl was eager to touch the tea tree.
“All right.” Mino’s blue eyes lit up as she carefully approached the tea tree.
In no time.
“Wow!”
The bunny-eared girl exclaimed in wonder, “The tea leaves are so pretty.”
“Was this tea tree also transplanted from Blood Beard’s place?”
Li Yue walked over with her dirt-streaked face, her silvery-white eyes fixed on the tall tea tree.
“More or less,” Mu Liang responded with a meaningful smile.
“This tea tree could at least be exchanged for tens of thousands of pounds of dried meat. He was truly wealthy…” Li Yue realised mid-sentence.
She turned her head and glanced sideways at Mu Liang, teasing him playfully, “It seems the truly wealthy person is you.”
“You could enjoy this wealthy life too,” Mu Liang said, his words carrying a hint of deeper meaning.
“Huh?” Li Yue blinked, failing to understand.
“Have you seen a tea tree before?” Mu Liang changed the topic.
“I have. It was only half as tall as this one,” Li Yue said through gritted teeth, her silvery-white eyes flashing with a trace of hatred.
“It seems it brought unpleasant memories for you,” Mu Liang noted, sensing the repressed emotions in the white-haired girl’s voice.
“It’s in the past now,” Li Yue replied in a low voice.
The white-haired girl shifted the topic in a cold tone: “You should guard this tea tree carefully. Thieves will definitely target it.”
She had never seen such a large tea tree. To some, it would undoubtedly be a priceless treasure.
Mu Liang nodded with a smile and softly asked, “If tea leaves were used for trade, do you think they could be exchanged for some ferocious beast crystals?”
“Yes, but very few people would trade for them,” Li Yue responded with her emotions back in check.
Her tone carried a subtle warning: “Those who can exchange for tea leaves don’t lack beast crystals. If they learn you have such a large tea tree, they might just resort to stealing it.”
“Well, who would end up stealing from whom is another matter,” Mu Liang replied with a faintly provocative smile.
“Ah! There’s Angel’s Wing growing here too,” Li Yue noticed the Angel’s Wing flowers beneath the tea tree.
The white-haired girl ran over joyfully and crouched to examine the blossoms.
Mu Liang watched the two girls with a smile, glancing at the sky.
Stretching his back, he sighed, “It’s already evening.”
“It’s time to prepare dinner.” Mu Liang leisurely carried the wooden bucket and headed back to the house.
“Mu Liang, wait for me!” Mino covered her pocket and chased after him.
“This kind of life is really nice,” Li Yue said as she stood up, watching the two enter the house.
She glanced at the sky, then lowered her gaze to the Angel’s Wing flowers.
“Shouldn’t it be covered up to make it safer?” Li Yue muttered to herself.
Just as her words fell, her peripheral vision caught the sudden appearance of a large lizard on the field ridge.
The white-haired girl froze momentarily before inexplicably smiling and walking back to the house with light steps.
With such a ferocious beast standing guard, isn’t that safer than covering it?@@novelbin@@
Li Yue reached the doorway but had yet to enter when she heard the bunny-eared girl’s voice, full of admiration.
“Mu Liang, what do you think of the warehouse?” Mino blinked her expectant blue eyes.
“You did a great job. It’s even better than I imagined,” Mu Liang praised without reservation.
“Hehe…” Mino smiled sweetly at the compliment.
The bunny-eared girl then exclaimed in awe, “Li Yue helped a lot too. She’s amazing! She arranged a row of stone bricks in just a few swishes.”
“Then you both should eat a bit more tonight,” Mu Liang said with a chuckle as he stepped out of the warehouse and saw the white-haired girl sitting at the table in the hall.
He said softly, “Thank you for your hard work today.”
“It was my duty,” Li Yue replied with a cold expression, though the corners of her lips lifted ever so slightly.
Even a white-haired girl could feel happy when praised.
Mino stepped out of the warehouse and saw the white-haired girl sitting at the table. She immediately became a bit embarrassed.
She hurriedly looked for something to do and said to cover it up, “I’ll move the items into the warehouse.”
“I’ll help,” Li Yue said as she stood up.
“…” Mino froze, hesitating before saying weakly, “No need, I can handle it alone.”
“It’ll be faster with two people,” Li Yue said with a hint of amusement in her eyes, picking up a roll of cloth and heading into the warehouse.
Mu Liang leaned close to the bunny-eared girl and whispered, “Don’t be afraid. She’s a good person; you can be friends with her.”
“I-I’ll try,” Mino replied hesitantly, her bunny ears drooping.
When building the warehouse and rooms earlier in the day, the two girls had only spoken when necessary. Otherwise, they quietly arranged the stone bricks.
“You don’t have to force yourself,” Mu Liang said gently.
“Mm.” Mino nodded slightly and carried a roll of cloth into the warehouse.
“Why didn’t I notice Mino was so shy before?” Mu Liang muttered to himself.
As he sliced tomatoes for soup, a thought occurred to him.
Could it be that at first, the bunny-eared girl thought he was dead?
Then, after he remained immobile for a day or two and later weakened for a couple more days…
“So, Mino’s shyness towards me just disappeared naturally?”
Mu Liang shook his head with a wry smile. No wonder he hadn’t realised the bunny-eared girl was shy.
What do you think?
