Chapter 50: Chapter 50 He is the National Doctor Cheng Han
The next day.
Qiao Xi got up very early, with dark circles under her eyes and red bloodshot in them. She helped Grandma Qiao prepare breakfast, and only then did she go back to her room to call Huo Xingzhou.
She saw that Huo Xingzhou had already washed up.
“Mr. Huo, breakfast is ready. After eating, I’ll take you next door to Grandpa Cheng’s house. His medical skills are excellent, much better than mine,” she said.
Huo Xingzhou paused for a moment, looking at her before saying, “Okay.”
He maneuvered his wheelchair and started moving out.
...
Qiao Xi shook out the blankets and arranged the bedsheet and pillows. Her hand felt a hard little box, and she picked it up with curiosity, her eyes widening in shock.
She quickly stuffed it back in, pretending to have seen nothing.
“Xixi, come and have breakfast quickly,” Grandma Qiao called out.
“Alright, I’m coming.”
Qiao Xi walked out of the room, sat at the square table, and ate her porridge and salted duck eggs with a distracted air.
Huo Xingzhou glanced at her, feeling that her gaze was evasive and her expression unnatural.
“I’ve finished eating. Mr. Huo, let’s go next door to Grandpa Cheng’s house now,” Qiao Xi said as she carried a box of milk and skincare products out, with Huo Xingzhou following by her side.
The house next door was a two-story brick and tile house with an ancient-looking small courtyard.
A wooden fence encircled it, and various herbs were drying in the yard.
“Grandpa Cheng! I’m back!” Qiao Xi yelled loudly as she pushed the fence gate and entered.
An old man in a green martial arts attire came out. He was lean and nimble, with quick hands and feet, a white beard, and an aura of an immortal.
His complexion was even better than that of young people.
“Qiao girl is back, always so polite,” he said as he took the gifts and set them aside, his sharp eyes then turning to Huo Xingzhou.
“Grandpa Cheng, hello. I’m Huo Xingzhou, Qiao Xi’s husband,” Huo Xingzhou introduced himself politely.
Old Cheng looked at him and snorted coldly.
“Grandpa Cheng, he had a car accident and has bruising in his legs. It’s a bit tricky. I was hoping you could take a look at him,” Qiao Xi said with a smile. “Please.”
“You’re extending your elbow out for others. You process the medicinal herbs for me in the yard, and I’ll examine him,” Old Cheng said seriously with a stern face.
“Okay!”
Old Cheng and Huo Xingzhou went inside, where Cheng Han looked at Huo Xingzhou with cold eyes. “People from the Huo Family have deep minds. Was it you who was investigating me before?”
“Sorry, Dr. Cheng Han,”
Huo Xingzhou said sincerely, “I discovered your identity by accident and also covered up any traces.”
Cheng Han’s expression softened, “Don’t use Qiao girl. I haven’t revealed my identity to her because I have my own difficulties.”
“I will not use her, nor will I tell her.”
“Alright, extend your hand.”
Cheng Han said indifferently.
“Thank you,” Huo Xingzhou said as he extended his hand, placing it on the hand pillow.
After the diagnosis, Cheng Han said, “That girl’s treatment plan is correct. Only the Cheng Acupuncture Technique is not yet sophisticated. I’ll perform acupuncture on you for the next half month and let her observe.”
He was using Huo Xingzhou as a teaching tool.
“It’s my honor,” Huo Xingzhou remained humble throughout. @@novelbin@@
Cheng Han’s attitude improved a lot, and he immediately had Huo Xingzhou lie on the therapy couch for acupuncture.
“Qiao girl, come in!” Old Cheng called out, “Help me prepare a medicinal bath.”
“Alright!”
Qiao Xi entered with light footsteps to assist.
…
Half a month later.
The seventieth birthday of the Old Master of the Huo Family was approaching.
In the evening, in Haicheng.
High-rises towered, neon lights flickered, a scene of prosperity.
On the top floor of a building, a small gathering of rich second-generation kids was happening.
Huo Beiting and Su Weiwei dressed up fancy, basking in the flattery and adulation of many wealthy second-generation heirs. Sun Weimeng drank sullenly, watching them enjoy the limelight with a cold eye.
Huo Beiting’s lackey, He Xuan, said loudly, “I heard Huo Xingzhou has hidden away in the countryside! He’s a scaredy-cat, afraid of our Beiting bro!”
“He’d better hide for a lifetime! Otherwise, as soon as he enters Haicheng, I’ll make him a cuckold. His wife is quite beautiful! A cripple like him, probably can’t enjoy a beauty, it’s cheap for us then!”
He had too much to drink, and his words were becoming increasingly inappropriate.
The others all burst into loud laughter.
Upon hearing this, Sun Weimeng slammed his wine glass down onto the floor with a “smash.”
The red wine and the broken glass splattered everywhere.
“He Xuan! Say that again, your mouth is so filthy, have you been eating shit!” Sun Weimeng stood up and pushed over the entire champagne tower on the long table.
Clatter crash!
All the champagne flutes fell to the ground.
“Sun Weimeng, have you lost your mind! Turns out you’re still Huo Xingzhou’s lapdog. He’s fallen from grace, and you’re the only one unhappy, still speaking up for him on social media!”
He Xuan howled.
Sun Weimeng grabbed his collar and punched him in the face.
“He Shortie, who are you calling a lapdog! Say it again!”
“Sun Weimeng, you’re freaking sick!” He Xuan was only 1.6m tall and was always mockingly called “He Shortie.” He got very angry every time he heard this nickname.
The two quickly started fighting, with Sun Weimeng punching with force, truly living up to his name. He Xuan didn’t stand a chance against him.
Huo Beiting stood by, watching the commotion with amusement, and said maliciously, “Go teach Sun Weimeng a lesson, then throw him out! He has long stopped being loyal to me.”
Several of his cronies rolled up their sleeves and started punching and kicking Sun Weimeng.
“Don’t accidentally kill anyone.”
Huo Beiting and Su Weiwei linked arms, sipping red wine.
Su Weiwei spoke, “Let it be, even if they’re acting crazy. It’s just young folks having a spat, the elders shouldn’t interfere.”
Sun Weimeng was dragged away and thrown out.
The grand doors of the banquet hall slowly closed in front of him.
“Cowards! Fools!”
Bruised and swollen, Sun Weimeng pointed at the tightly shut doors and cursed loudly, “You just know how to bully me! Wait until Huo Xingzhou comes back, he’ll beat the crap out of you.”
He took out his phone from his pocket and called Huo Xingzhou.
As soon as the call connected, his eyes became teary.
“Huo Xingzhou! You’ve got me suffering so much!” he sobbed, “Everyone says you’re a coward, a complete loser. Only I speak well of you, and I got beaten up for it.”
Inside the room, seated in his wheelchair, Huo Xingzhou looked relaxed and turned on the speakerphone.
“Who hit you?” he asked.
Wiping tears, Sun Weimeng cried pitifully, “Huo Beiting’s lackeys, there were too many for me to remember. I was nearly beaten to death.”
Young Master Sun menacingly threatened, “Do you have some grand plan for revenge? If you don’t tell me, I’ll go find a woman, and the whole city will know I’m capable!”
Huo Xingzhou said indifferently, “Then go find one.”
“Are you threatening me! Is it because once I find a woman, you’ll castrate me!” He was in pain, gritting his teeth and crying so hard that he could barely catch his breath.
“Hanging up,” Huo Xingzhou said and abruptly ended the call.
Qiao Xi covered her mouth, snickering, “Young Master Sun is really amusing.” She put her suitcase aside, “Mr. Huo, everything is packed, we’ll head back to Haicheng tomorrow morning.”
She also packed a box of medical books to take back.
Lastly, she took out a bottle of medicated liquor from the bottom shelf of the bookcase, “Mr. Huo, this is what I promised you. Going back to the countryside, I definitely wanted to let you taste the medicated liquor.”
Huo Xingzhou watched her, a dark glint flickering in his eyes, “Are you sure?”
“It’s for promoting blood circulation and dispersing blood stasis, you can have a bit.”
Half a month of medicinal baths had greatly improved his complexion. Logically, his legs should also be trying to stand up by now.
“We’ll drink the medicated liquor back in Haicheng,” he said coolly, “Qiao Xi, I’ve prepared something for you.”
Qiao Xi watched him reach under his pillow.
In an instant, she blushed and felt hot all over her body.
All that came to mind was the “Mrs. Joy” and “say one thing and do another” from the other day.
What do you think?
