Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Help is possible, but it comes at a price! Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Help is possible, but it comes at a price! Jiang Man sneered, her tone calm yet icy, “No, I will not help!”

Having said that, she rose swiftly, “I’ve already understood the situation, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving.”

“Don’t go, Manman!” Hu Fangqin hurriedly stepped forward to hold onto Jiang Man, her eyes red with tears, her voice hoarse to the point of breaking, “If even you won’t help us, then we truly have nowhere to turn.”

“Jiang Rou, kneel down and apologize to your sister!” Jiang Yueping commanded at that moment.

Jiang Rou, her body covered in bruises, was already terrified by Jiang Yueping’s beatings, she bit down hard on her molars, moving her leaden feet step by step towards Jiang Man.

After hesitating for a moment, she eventually gave in, and with a thump, knelt down.

“Sis, please help me, the one million was mom and dad’s hard-earned money; now it’s all gone because of me… It’s all my fault, you can hit me or scold me, just please don’t ignore me, will you?”

“Manman…”
One of Jiang Man’s legs was embraced by Jiang Rou, and one arm was tugged by Hu Fangqin.

Looking at her wretched family, she scoffed coldly.

She fished out a crumpled piece of paper from her backpack and tossed it onto Jiang Rou’s face, “I’m not saying I won’t help you. Sign this, and I will.”

Hu Fangqin, puzzled, picked up the paper from the ground.

When she unfolded the paper and saw its content clearly, her eyes widened in disbelief.

“Manman… you want to… sever parental ties with us?”

“What?” Jiang Yueping almost leaped from the sofa, bounding over to his wife like a monkey, and snatched the wrinkled paper.

Upon confirming it was indeed an agreement to sever parental ties, Jiang Yueping finally couldn’t suppress his volatile temper, “Jiang Man, what do you mean? You don’t want to acknowledge blood ties anymore? You dare do such ungrateful things?”

“What wouldn’t I dare to do?” Jiang Man’s tone was indifferent, yet her eyes carried a trace of murderous intent, brooking no argument.

“You…” Jiang Yueping was so angry he was at a loss for words, his hand trembling as he pointed at Jiang Man.

Father and daughter confronted each other, Jiang Man with an untroubled expression on her face, her arms crossed, “If you don’t sign, then I can’t help you.”

She shrugged her shoulders, making to leave.

Caught in a dilemma, Hu Fangqin looked sorrowfully toward her husband, waiting for him to make a decision.

Jiang Yueping trembled with fury, his blood pressure skyrocketing.

Seeing Jiang Man about to open the front door, he stomped his foot in reluctant acceptance, “Sign, we’ll sign!”

Attempting to steal a chicken only to lose the rice, they had just acknowledged their own daughter and were now about to sever ties with her.

It felt like such a loss.

Thinking back, they should have played their part and pampered her when Jiang Man returned.

Jiang Yueping regretted it bitterly.

Jiang Man didn’t move but stood still, raising her eyebrows.

Jiang Yueping gritted his teeth and ran to get a pen.

“Press your fingerprints,” Jiang Man reminded flatly, her voice devoid of warmth.

Jiang Yueping, head steaming with rage, rushed to find the ink pad.

After signing their names and pressing their fingerprints, they handed the agreement to Jiang Man, “We have one condition, that one million must not only be recovered, but Zhao Peng must also be sent to jail!”

Jiang Man glanced at Jiang Yueping disdainfully, too lazy to respond, “Don’t overstep your bounds.”

She opened the door and left, her presence exuding detachment.

When the door slammed shut with a heavy ‘thud’, Hu Fangqin collapsed, falling to the ground.

“It’s gone… everything’s gone… We were counting on Manman marrying into wealth, and we could have enjoyed the good life, but now we’ve lost it all.”

“Mom, don’t be sad, don’t you still have me?” Jiang Rou sobbingly got up, shuffling on her knees to embrace her foster mother.

The mother and daughter hugged each other and began to cry.

Seeing this scene, Jiang Yueping ultimately couldn’t bear it.

After all, Jiang Rou had been raised in his care for twenty years, and he felt even more affection for her than for his own daughter.

“Enough, let’s just pretend our own daughter died twenty years ago. Once this matter is settled, we’ll go back to being a happy family of three just like before,”
Jiang Yueping came over to comfort his wife.

Hu Fangqin lifted her swollen eyes, which were like walnuts, and nodded.

The couple had reached an unspoken agreement, but Jiang Rou couldn’t swallow the insult.

She couldn’t act as if nothing had happened.

Jiang Man had married a wealthy husband and was always putting her down; she definitely couldn’t swallow that!

After Jiang Man came down from the Tube Building, she took out her phone to call Wu Yingfan.

“Help me look up someone.”

After hanging up the phone, she walked toward the big G and said to the driver, “You go home first, I have a date with a friend.”

“Miss, do you not need the car?” the driver asked respectfully.

“My friend has a car.”

The driver nodded, not daring to ask further, and drove off.

Minutes later, a flashy Porsche drove into the dilapidated neighborhood, creating a scene that caught the eye.

Wu Yingfan waved to the girl cooling off in the shade of the trees.

Jiang Man strode over, opened the passenger door, and leaned into the seat, “Speak.”

Wu Yingfan glanced at her with a mischievous grin, “Guess what?”

“What happened?” Jiang Man said coldly, an impatience in her brows.

Wu Yingfan leaned in, whispering mysteriously, “This Zhao Peng, he’s the little brother of your husband’s rumored fling!”

“???” Jiang Man felt like her CPU was fried.

Lu Xingzhou’s rumored fling? Who?

“Stop beating around the bush!” she said coldly.

Wu Yingfan chuckled, “This Zhao Peng, he’s Zhao Huai’s younger brother!”

“He’s nothing like his brother; it’s hard to believe they came from the same womb. Zhao Huai is a genius, a Tsinghua master’s graduate, while Zhao Peng dropped out of junior high and has been messing around in society. He’s had quite a few girlfriends, and every time before breaking up, he’d swindle a sum from them.”

“But the guy’s smart, a habitual offender. The girls always willingly lend him money, so even if you take him to court, the judge can’t do anything. He’s shameless, playing the card of a debtor who won’t pay back, a total deadbeat!”

“Humph!” After hearing about Zhao Peng’s story, Jiang Man scoffed coldly, “Does Zhao Huai know about this?”

“He probably doesn’t. Zhao Peng was kicked out of the house at 17 and hasn’t contacted his family for years. Sister Man, you’re not really planning to play the good Samaritan and help your unrelated sister get her money back, are you?”

“Of course, I’m not that kind-hearted,” Jiang Man raised an eyebrow, pulling out the crumpled disinheritance agreement from her bag.

Wu Yingfan took one look and exclaimed, “Not bad, Sister Man!”

“It’s not enough,” Jiang Man’s eyes were as deep as cold pools, “I have no obligation to clean up Jiang Rou’s mess, she definitely has to pay a price.”

“What price?” Wu Yingfan blinked, unable to contain his gossipy heart.

Jiang Man smiled darkly, “Give them a taste of their own medicine.”

“Huh? Huh? Huh?”

“You’ll know when it happens,” Jiang Man fastened her seatbelt, “Let’s go, let’s find this Zhao Peng!”
