Dragon King's Harem Chapter 318. Lizard And Dragon II
Jyne, unable to resist a final quip, muttered under her breath, "Let's hope he's not allergic to flowers."
Al, however, remained steadfast, his eyes narrowing with a simmering intensity. "No amount of flowers will mask the stench of his deeds," he retorted.
I took a deep breath, grounding myself. "Remember, this is a delicate dance. We aim for justice, not chaos," I reminded the group.
Evelina nodded in agreement. "We're here for a resolution, not retaliation," she emphasized.
"Yes, resolution. As long as that idiot king beheads that baron, I'm okay with it," Al declared, his disdain for the Lizard King laid bare. @@novelbin@@
Eir couldn’t help but chuckle due to Al’s statement. But he tried to cover it. Still, I could see his smile beneath his hood.
I exchanged a glance with Evelina. I knew the Lizard King's actions had provoked anger, but maintaining decorum was paramount in the delicate arena of diplomacy. "Words, Al," I interjected. Calling the Lizard King an idiot, no matter how warranted, could escalate tensions beyond repair.
His response, however, was unapologetically blunt, "Sorry not sorry for that."
I sighed inwardly, understanding the difficulty of containing his emotions.
From a distance, the Lizard King's convoy emerged in a display of opulence. A grand tent adorned a colossal mount, resembling a mammoth with the exotic texture of rhinoceros skin.
Atop this majestic creature, the Lizard King presided in regal splendor, elevated above the rest. Surrounding him were several women. I couldn't help but bet that all of them were his wives.
I chuckled inwardly, having expected no less from a ruler like him. This was his moment to flaunt and bask in the glory of his perceived accomplishments. I recalled his habit of denigrating the real Argod, particularly for what he deemed a lack of sexual appetite.
His soldiers rode smaller mounts. These riders encircled the entourage like a protective barrier. The air resonated with the rhythmic beat of hooves against the desert terrain.
Among these soldiers, one figure stood out—the baron we had encountered before. Mounted on his own steed, there was an unmistakable air of malevolence about him. Even from a distance, I could discern the sinister curve of his lips. The malicious glint in his eyes hinted at the anticipation of revenge.
The Lizard King atop his imposing mount appeared relaxed, reveling in the company of his wives. Laughter echoed through the air as he engaged in what seemed like carefree banter.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the sight. ‘Ugh, tacky,’ I thought to myself. It was crystal clear; he was pulling out all the stops to brag about himself.
The rhythmic thumping intensified with every step the Lizard King's entourage took. The resonance echoed through the desert. It started as a distant tremor, barely perceptible, but as they drew nearer, the vibrations became more pronounced.
"Why does he need such a big mount to get here?" grumbled Eir.
"Because he has to show how big his ego is," Al chimed in, dripping with careless mockery.
I had to bite my lip to keep from bursting into laughter, but I decided to play it cool. Inside, though, I was giving Al mental high-fives for nailing the assessment of our 'grandiose visitor'.
Minutes later, the convoy arrived. The Lizard King, adorned in regal attire, approached. Al's defiance lingered.
I nodded subtly, signaling to Al that, for the time being, we had to tread carefully.
The formal greetings commenced, and Al's demeanor shifted to one of composed professionalism. "Your Majesty, welcome to the Dragon Tribe’s territory," he addressed the Lizard King.
