The Gentleman at the End

Chapter 83 - 82 Red Lotus

Chapter 83: Chapter 82 Red Lotus

I hadn’t expected to meet again in such a special way after more than six months.

[Jin]

A gentleman from the same batch entering the city with Yi Chen,

who had not managed to identify the Black Hand behind Green Lake Town, received an assessment score of [92], second only to Yi Chen.

In terms of the number of Patients and initial infected ones he killed, he alone surpassed all other Assessors combined.

Likewise, his selection of the Black Letter

had led his gentleman training to diverge significantly, not attending the Omphalo-Centric-Academy but undergoing a confidential, special training oriented towards Executioner training.

Yi Chen had always been curious about what Jin’s Profession really was.

Eight months had passed,

and Yi Chen’s physique had undergone a fundamental change, and his brain had also grown.

Even so,

when Jin’s hand slid onto his shoulder, the sense of danger was still present, even stronger than during their last meeting, prompting Yi Chen to instinctively shake his shoulder and move away.

“Still so sensitive~ I just wanted to check your new Physical form.

Well~ Although it was a brief contact, I can feel that your body is completely different from before, that’s more like it~ You didn’t look strong at all back then.”

“What are you doing here?”

“Didn’t I tell you? I’ve ordered a large batch of goods in this shop, and I was just inspecting them. The quality of this batch was very high, and an uncontrolled explosion happened accidentally.

Are you interested in taking a look inside?”

“Hmm.”

Yi Chen now had plenty of time, and he was also very curious about what Jin was actually doing.

Stepping into the shop, shattered by the explosion,

his eyes immediately filled with various scattered limbs, more precisely, “Artificial Flesh,” with two large boxes also piled up with similar limb-like Artificial Flesh in the depths of the shop.

“Artificial Flesh”

This term, Yi Chen had read about it in the Library.

Some professions, particularly those of gentlemen or gentleman’s pets involved in curing or hunting, might require human flesh. As this went against a gentleman’s character, a substitute gradually appeared in the market – “Artificial Flesh.”

It had the same taste and texture as real flesh,

and even some very particular pets that could only feed on human flesh accepted—and even preferred—this kind of flesh.

There were two theories regarding the origin of “Artificial Flesh”:

1. A gentleman who had received the Purple Letter, and whose Profession was related to “Flesh,” could produce Artificial Flesh in large quantities daily.

2. Derived from the bodies of Patients, some of whose bodies were so severely damaged that they could not be cremated for Crystal, even the bodies of some initial infected were bought at low prices.

After special treatment that confirmed they did not carry Pathological Traits, it was marketed as “Artificial Flesh” circulating in the lower streets.

This Artificial Flesh was not cheap,

a single hand or leg could probably cost several silver coins.

For someone like Jin to buy several large boxes at once, he must be a major customer.

A small, busy shop owner was picking up scattered limbs from the ground, and concerning the explosion and the damage to the shop, he hadn’t said a word… probably because he dared not speak.

Jin squatted down, tilting his head towards the owner, “Mr. Fabio, I’m truly sorry for blowing up your shop like this, I will pay for the damages.”

Upon hearing Jin say this, the diminutive owner trembled, “It’s my fault, why should you pay! You’re a major customer here; it’s just some minor damage.

Just give me a moment, and I’ll rebox them right away.”

“Right! Prepare three… no, four boxes of this quality of ‘synthetic meat’ for me in three months.”

“Consider it done.”

All three large boxes were packed by the boss and were all hoisted onto one of Jin’s shoulders.

Jin’s physique was similar to Yi Chen’s, maybe even a bit slimmer and shorter, yet he easily carried the boxes that far exceeded his own weight.

“Need any help?” Yi Chen kindly asked.

“It’s not that heavy. If you really want to help, why not go to my room so I can thoroughly inspect your new body and whatever emblem you’re hiding?”

Yi Chen immediately gestured a ‘no’ with his hand.

“Boring man.”

Yi Chen immediately switched to the topic he wanted to know about, “Jin, what do you need so much synthetic meat for?”

“To use it, what else?”

“How will you use it?”

“However I want to use it…”

Jin shrugged lightly, and a severed leg flew straight out from the topmost box, which he caught in one swoop.

Following that, a series of red lines spread through the synthetic meat at the spot where his fingers pinched, even weaving into odd patterns of Red Lotus flowers beneath the skin.

At that instant, Yi Chen sensed a danger similar to when touched by Jin; all the plant life within his body began to move, autonomously weaving an explosion-resistant mesh structure beneath his skin

The direct sensation transmitted to Yi Chen was—’this leg is going to explode’.

At that moment,

Jin was about to make a throwing gesture with the leg in his hand toward a busy crossroad filled with people. @@novelbin@@

“Hey! Jin!”

Yi Chen instinctively wanted to stop him, but Jin had already tossed it first.

However, by the time the realistic throwing motion was completed, the severed leg was still in Jin’s grasp.

“Hahaha! Look how nervous you are. You didn’t think I’m a reckless madman, did you? If I were to blow up a crowd of gentlemen without any reason, the higher-ups would execute me directly.

Just because I broke a waste’s limbs, they keep bothering me; I don’t want to waste my time on such boring matters.

I don’t feel very inclined toward dying just yet—after all, the ‘Organization’ still amuses me, and there are many more interesting things to do than dying.”

After speaking, the red lines flowing through the leg returned to Jin’s body, and with a flip, he made the leg drop back into the box.

“Is this your Professional Characteristic? No… ‘Pathological Trait’ right?”

“Quite smart, huh~ Correct! With the organization’s help, I burned my father’s pathological body and obtained a quite special red crystal. Then I swallowed it without hesitation, making it a part of me, ‘Pathological Trait – Red Lotus’.”

The word ‘father’ made Yi Chen’s face change suddenly.

Seeing this, Jin immediately stepped forward and added:

“Don’t make that face. A beast like my father doesn’t deserve any pity.”

“Hmm.” Yi Chen didn’t ask anything further, likely understanding some of it and quickly redirected the topic, “By the way, using these limbs as remote weapons seems quite cumbersome to carry around, doesn’t it?”

“Wait till we get back to my place; a little processing will make them very portable.

Are you coming? I live alone now!”

A curiosity stemming from deep within made Yi Chen nod,

and even the little grape raised both hands in agreement, showing interest in an outsider for the first time.

“Alright then! Just to be clear, I’m only going to see how you process this ‘synthetic meat’; we don’t need to do anything else.”
