Chapter 85 - 84 Cesimani
Chapter 85: Chapter 84 Cesimani
Following Jin’s lead, Yi Chen arrived at the upper streets he had never set foot in before,
At the end of the street, there was a very strange bridge with many small, pitch-black masked sculptures on both sides of the bridge.
“Beyond this bridge is Gethsemane,” Jin said.
Yi Chen had also crafted a plant mask in advance to hide his face.
“Jin, are you sure I can go to your training ground?” Yi Chen asked.
“Let’s try. I will explain our current team relationship to the instructor… After all, among the people from my batch or the one before, temporarily, there’s no one willing to team up with me.
Special circumstances require special measures, right?”
“Alright then.”
As the two crossed the bridge,
the scene before them was unexpectedly an orchard with a dense distribution of oddly shaped fruit trees, and gentlemen with their eyes covered in black cloth who were carefully tending to these trees.
“What are these?” Yi Chen inquired.
Jin said with disdain, “These are just pitiful guys who have very poor self-control and let the desire for killing dominate their main emotions. After all, our place is specifically for training…slaughterers.”
Jin suddenly stretched out his right hand and drew a couple of slices across Yi Chen’s neck.
“The assignments arranged here mainly involve ‘superfast killing.’ Some people indulge in the banal pleasure of killing during the task. @@novelbin@@
Therefore, a mental review is conducted every two weeks, and those who do not pass are made to wear a black cloth blindfold and sent to tend to the orchard until the instructor allows them to return to training.
Just to make it clear! There’s nothing wrong with my review.”
“Hmm,” Yi Chen nodded, understanding the necessity of this procedure.
Those special gentlemen choosing the Black Letters carry out assassination tasks to eliminate the Pathogens in the dark… They all have, to a greater or lesser extent, certain tendencies for killing.
After all,
Yi Chen had also come across a black envelope during the Letter Selection, he just hadn’t chosen it.
And he himself had a certain longing and impulse for killing; otherwise, he would not have requested that Professor Qian Bosen arrange physical training for him.
Yi Chen was well aware that once he gave in to these desires, his thoughts would likewise become corrupted.
To ensure an independent and noble mind during a killing spree, special measures must be taken.
Such cultivation and care of the trees might calm their minds for self-reflection.
However,
when Yi Chen saw these gentlemen with black cloth over their eyes, he immediately thought of his own physical tutor, Hogni Zed.
The two arrived in front of a small cabin deep in the orchard,
where an old man with a prosthetic limb and blindfolded eyes sat on a wooden chair with his legs crossed, a homemade pinecone cigarette dangling from his mouth, blocking the entrance.
Approaching the old man, Jin made a rare bowing gesture, “Mr. Beigus, I’ve brought a new teammate, ready to pick up some assignments from the instructor.”
The words of the old man came out with the smoke rings:
“Is it allowed from below?”
“When we go down, we will inform the instructor,” Jin replied.
The old man stood up, his collapsed and wrinkly nose slightly sniffing in front of Yi Chen.
“A recipient of the First Gentleman, mixed with the stench of minced flesh and blood… Fill out this confidentiality agreement, don’t cause me trouble, and report to the instructor immediately after you go down.”
The old man handed over a yellowed piece of paper with various prohibitions written on it.
As a ‘Foreign Visitor,’ Yi Chen was strictly forbidden from revealing anything he saw below, and his activity area was strictly limited; any violation would subject him to brainwashing.
As Yi Chen signed the agreement, the old man also moved aside his chair,
inside the cabin was just a solitary closed lift leading underground, carrying the two of them to the fully enclosed lower area, completely isolated from the “street district.”
There was just this one entrance throughout the entirety of Zion.
“Gethsemane – The Greenhouse for Executioners”
was a training field built by the organization specifically for the gentlemen who chose the Black Letter.
When the elevator reached the bottom level, a narrow stone corridor came into view, with various secret doors on both sides, through which one could faintly hear the sounds of tearing, metal clashing, and even screams.
Each secret door might correspond to a special training room.
Under Jin’s guidance, they rushed through the maze-like corridors until they arrived at a profound and solitary corridor,
The end of the hallway was marked by the sole secret door, accompanied by a torch.
Just as the two approached the secret door, a mature female voice immediately emanated from behind the wall.
“Come in,” she said.
By turning the torch at the entrance, Jin opened the secret door.
Surprisingly, the inside revealed a rather spacious office, dominated by a gray and white color scheme.
A barefoot woman stood in front of a display case at the edge of the wall,
wearing a white shirt with a black tie, a gray plaid skirt that reached below her knees, and black thigh-high stockings.
She moved with a slow and gentle gait, admiring and neatly arranging her unique collection of “finger specimens” within the showcase.
Her shoulder-length blond hair was tied into a ponytail, and she held in one hand a pair of round glasses with a golden frame, thoroughly examining each finger.
Using the glass surface of the specimens as a mirror, she glanced at the two people entering the door.
“Mr. Beigus actually let you bring a foreigner down here, huh? Speak! What is it you want?” she inquired.
Jin casually placed his elbow on Yi Chen’s shoulder, and with his other hand made an exaggerated arrow gesture, “William here scored a strong 96 on the Gentleman’s assessment, and it just so happens we’re from the same class.
We bumped into each other on the street earlier and decided to team up on the spur of the moment to tackle some more challenging missions for fun.”
The woman did not respond but continued to organize the specimens.
Only after she had finished arranging all of the specimens did she slowly turn around.
Her face appeared just over thirty and was exceptionally well-maintained; however, her light green eyes never once looked directly at the pair.
It was not until she sat back at her desk that she slowly directed her gaze towards them, the mere instant of eye contact causing Yi Chen to feel extremely uncomfortable.
“Have you brought your personal information?” she asked.
“Just a moment.”
Yi Chen actually had prepared a personal resume in his briefcase, just in case.
When the woman browsed the only recorded mission on it, her expression shifted,
the keywords ‘killing a Severe Patient’ and ‘contact with Open Source Patients without being affected’ sparked her interest in the young man before her.
However, she noticed an issue.
“It seems you took half a year’s leave before undertaking the ‘Secret Medicine Recovery’ mission. Why is that?” she questioned.
“I received special ‘Physical training’ at the academy, which took up an entire half year.”
“Physical…”
The woman could tell just by observing the details of his physical motions that Yi Chen’s physique was quite extraordinary.
“Omphalo-Centric Academy is full of bookworms, and even if they aren’t, they’re just brutes with brute strength, which doesn’t match your physique at all… Who taught you?” she probed.
“Teacher Zede,” he answered.
At this, the woman’s expression dramatically changed, and she sat up straight, “Hogni Zed?”
“Yes.”
“That blind man isn’t dead yet?
I recall he caused the death of many students a few years ago and was tried by the organization, later to be imprisoned by the academy for some reason. How did you come into contact with him?”
“Professor Qian Bosen arranged it for me… Currently, Teacher Zede only contacts me in private.”
No sooner had he spoken,
when a slim leg, barely seen in motion, hung in front of Yi Chen,
the foot, wrapped in black mesh, struck his chest with a crack! Ribs shattered.
Yi Chen spiraled through the air, slamming against the wall with such force that the entire office shook.
The woman, who had completed the superfast kick, still maintained the single-handed support on the desk, her body parallel to the ground in a side-kick pose.
She retracted her long leg slowly and evenly, landing gracefully in front of her desk.
All the while, she surveyed the young man who had been kicked into the corner and might have fainted.
Unexpectedly,
Yi Chen simply patted his chest, standing up unbothered and even smiling… He seemed to not care at all about his broken ribs, and there was even a hint of pleasure in his response to the kick.
“In just half a year, your physique has already transformed. Are you even crazier than that madman Zede?”
What do you think?
