Chapter 540: Chapter 50 The Essence of Backstabbing_2

Admetos paused, a frown furrowing his brow.

“Although this seems like good news, I always feel they won’t just let things slide so easily,”

“As far as I know, when a boxer pulls back his arm and hides his fists, it’s often not because he’s retreating, but because he wants to swing an even more powerful next punch,”

Polux, one of the Sparta twins skilled in boxing, cited his own observations and experiences to seriously caution King Admetos.

“You’re right,” Luo En nodded in agreement, swirling the cup in his hand and musing aloud, “The Thessaly region was once the battlefield of the Titan war. The Giant Spirit Clan can awaken the Divinity and Divine Power of the Twelve Titans to the greatest extent underground. This place is the perfect bridgehead for counterattacking the surface, and they certainly won’t let things slide. Moreover, they seem to have already rebuilt temples underground in Thessaly to worship the Old Gods, making it even less likely they will abandon this pre-selected Holy Land. So the Giant Spirit Clan will surely make a comeback; it’s just a matter of time.”

“I understand what you’re saying, naturally,”

...

Admetos nodded, but his face couldn’t help revealing a resigned wry smile.

“But these earth moles have the blessing of the Divine Authority of the earth, leaving no trace as they come and go, always hiding in the intricate underground caves. Even if I wanted to find their lair and figure out what they are plotting behind the scenes, it’s easier said than done,”

Upon hearing this, everyone else couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.

The enemy lurks in the shadows while we are exposed; it’s indeed a troublesome problem that requires constant vigilance.

But after discussing the matter, they didn’t really have any better solutions and couldn’t finish the job all at once. So they could only focus on strengthening Thessaly’s defenses and preparing for the upcoming fierce battle.

After the two issues were discussed in succession, the banquet entered into a more joyful and relaxed phase.

Medea had her eye on the exquisite pastries and wandered around foraging;

Cainis, slightly tipsy, swayed her hips in the middle of the venue, dancing a fiery hot dance;

Helen, driven by an unexplainable competitive spirit, followed with a ritual dance she was good at, displaying her graceful and elegant temperament with every move, winning cheers from everyone;

Subsequently, there were friendly matches like Telamon and Hercules wrestling, Polux and the Mechanical God Ares boxing, and other such light-hearted entertainment programs, filling the hall with a harmonious atmosphere.

With the absence of the bothersome harpies, Luo En was happy to relax, leaning against a stone pillar leisurely drinking the new batch of Ambrosial Honey Wine from Thessaly.

“Doesn’t drinking alone bore you?”

As a sultry, sweet voice sounded in Luo En’s ear, the Mechanical God Aphrodite came over with a twinkle in her eye, holding two cups of wine.

“About what happened last time when entering the city, I was the one who offended you. Consider this cup of wine as an apology,”

Luo En’s eyes flashed, and he spoke with a smile.

“Well, it’s a case of ‘No fighting, no acquaintance,’ isn’t it? We’re all on the same boat now, no need to be so formal,”

He then politely accepted the wine cup, and under Aphrodite’s beaming gaze, he drank the crimson liquor in one gulp.

Seeing him drink the wine that symbolized reconciliation, Aphrodite’s smile bloomed even more radiant and enchanting. As she took back the cup, her fair fingertips unintentionally or intentionally grazed Luo En’s palm, leaving a tingling sensation akin to an electric shock and an indescribably delicate touch.

By the time Luo En regained his senses, the red-haired, golden-eyed Mechanical God had already drifted away, and in his hand was a crumpled little note.

“Thirty minutes later, Royal Garden,”

Seeing the elegant characters written on it, along with the seductive, pink lipstick mark at the signature, Luo En deeply inhaled the lingering fragrance Aphrodite had left behind in the air and a playful look appeared deep in his eyes.

Hmm, this tea seems to be a bit too strong…

With a silent swallow, a trickle of crimson liquid quietly flowed from the corner of his mouth.

As the moon rose high, the crisp chirping of insects orchestrated a delightful natural concerto, and the shadows of trees beside the road danced with the wind alongside the park’s foliage, creating a rustling harmony.

Underneath the bright silver moonlight, the red-haired, golden-eyed Mechanical God of Love leaned in the gazebo, lazily stretching out her limbs, revealing her slender waist and the tempting curves of her chest.

She had already drunk the wine, wasn’t it time to keep the appointment?

That’s not like him…

Just as Aphrodite in the gazebo furrowed her brow and murmured to herself, a distant whisper floated to her ears.

“Mmm, you smell so good…”

The sudden warm breath sent a shiver down the Mechanical God’s spine. She quickly leaped away, instinctively entering a state of alert.

“Why so tense? I’m the one you beckoned, right?”

Luo En looked at the startle-response Aphrodite and showed a reproachful gaze.

“It’s your fault for appearing suddenly behind me and making me so nervous,”

Aphrodite regained her composure, her charming face displaying a hint of annoyance.

“Alright, my bad,”

Luo En raised his hands in surrender and then got straight to the point.

“So, what’s the matter you wanted to see me about so late in private?”

“Of course, to do things that two people should do in private,”

Aphrodite stepped forward, her fingertip tracing circles gently on Luo En’s chest, her voice ripe with innuendo.

“Here?” Luo En first looked puzzled, then moved his hand toward his belt.

Seeing this, Aphrodite stiffens, “What are you doing?”

“Obviously, getting to the point,” Luo En answered as if it was the most natural thing, then remembered to urge, “I don’t know when the feast will end, and there are too many people coming and going here, so you’d better hurry up too.”
